Super Smash Bros Wii U/3DS Discussion (NEW)

It isn't a Diddy/Dixie tag-team, so good news for solo Diddy fans.

Now, that just leaves whether Dixie is going to show up as her own character or not at all.

I honestly hated how Diddy played in Brawl, so I am sad that there's no Dixie.


Also it confirms a theory about the Boxing Ring. Seems it is only a Punch-Out stage when Little Mac is there, as seen here.

Also the boxing ring changing is really clever, and I like it.

I know there's not info for telling this, but do you guys think Little Mac has a special taunt in his stage?
Kind of like Starfox on Corneria or on Lylat System?

It's possible. Though at the same time, I wouldn't imagine Doc saying too much in one sitting if it's meant to be like the round intermissions.

That would be pretty sweet, they obviously already have a voice actor for Doc so that could very well be the case.

Maybe Doc. Louis will be like the Pokemon Trainer in the background. But then again, we never saw him anywhere visible during the gameplay.

My personal opinion on this, I tried to limit the bias as much as I could, for example I hate playing as Ness and Jiggs, but I love Mewtwo, Snake and Ike.

My only hope for the 3DS version of Smash 4 is that it doesn't have frame lag in any sort of way, though it does seem unlikely.

That would imply Jigglypuff has to approach Mac....
If attempt is successful, Jiggs will own Mac. If attempt is unsuccessful.....Jiggs gets Punched the eff Out.

Well let's put it this way, if momentum cancelling from Brawl comes back then Jigglypuff will yet again be absolute trash since no rest combos.

I've been looking through the release schedule for possible character unveil dates. This isn't who I think will be unveiled, rather who is possible to be unveiled when.

March 14th/15th - Yoshi (Yoshi's New Island)
March 28th/29th - Prof. Layton (Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney)
May 2nd/16th - Metaknight (Kirby Triple Deluxe)
May 29th/30th/31st - Mario Rep (Mario Kart 8 )

Professor Layton?

He's unlikely but his inclusion is very possible. His games are published by Nintendo, and his games have sold over 15 million copies together. With seven games, a movie and three Japanese novels under his belt I can see him being a very viable candidate.

Not to mention Layton v Ace Attorney has had heavy coverage on Nintendo Direct, they seem very involved with it.

I'm a little grey on the subject too, but I think they have as much of a right to Layton as they do Wonder Red for example. Layton is more than just a character that was licensed for a Nintendo console.

To my knowledge he's never appeared outside of Nintendo's consoles for games. His son stars in a iOS spin-off but that's it.

Level-5 owns Layton and is the developer of the franchise.
Nintendo just publishes the games outside Japan. Nintendo owns the IP as much as it owns Dragon Quest.

Layton is 3rd Party. Wonderful 101, however, Nintendo does own the IP.

His fight style would obviously be weird and would use his puzzles somehow for sure, but he's far from a  pacifist so could incorporate some more fundamental attacks.

He's far from a pacifist? Actually, he IS a pacifist. He knows how to fight, but he HATES violence. He'll fight only if it's really necessary.
One look around TV Tropes will prove that if you don't play the games. And if you DO play, there's quite a bit of dialogue that shows this trait about him. He's supposed to be a gentleman, after all

And even then, if he does have to fight, notice on the video how he isn't trying at all to HURT Anton. He just wanted to disarm him and tried to block his attacks for most of the time.
He even asks if Anton is all right - you know, the guy who just tried to kill him - when he does stop fighting, and it was Anton who started the fight.

But about his possible moveset, yeah, I agree with you on everything else. He probably would incorporate puzzles as his playstyle, maybe by using (initially) confusing attacks and/or some things he created - and this happens almost once per game IIRC - or got along the series.

Confirms what we already knew, that the Boxing Ring has two versions. Interestingly though it seems that Little Mac isn't the trigger. It may be selectable.

Also, this is very interesting and makes me very happy since I really like the blue colour in the Smash arena.
