Nintendo Direct: Official Discussion Thread

This was a great Nintendo Direct, many things to look forward to, Mario 3D World looks amazing, Pikmin 3 DLC, Sonic in Smash bros and Kirby 3DS were my favourite parts, but the whole thing was great! Now time to get that Pikmin 3 DLC

The new Kirby announcement made my day. I'm so glad I watched the direct this morning.

I can't believe I slept through it. Damn it all.

Tomorrow, 11am Eastern. This theme is "New details and information about previously announced Nintendo 3DS software launching through early 2014.". It seems unlikely we'll get anything Smash related, but we can hope.

Also, I'm going to call this seeing as it seems the right time, I reckon tomorrow they will unveil Majora's Mask 3D.

New Yoshi's Island?

Well seeing as it will primarily be 3DS focused, I suppose a character from a recent or coming 3DS game would be best suited to be shown for this Nintendo Direct.
Only characters that really come to mind right now are Yoshi (Yoshi's New Island), Zelda (A Link Between Worlds), and a Pokémon Character (Pokémon X and Y).

I feel that Zelda probably has the strongest chance, but I do hope for Yoshi. It would be nice to have the starting eight characters be confirmed.

I hope more info on Kirby will be released.

Tomorrow, 9am Eastern. This theme is "focusing on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS software launching through spring 2014.". If that Spring rumour is true, now would be the time they announce it. Also expect new info on Donkey Kong and Mario Kart 8.

They also don't say "Previously announced" like they did last time, so I believe we'll see at least one new title.

just because i'm majoring in computer science doesn't mean i don't have to take other required courses

calc being one of them

chem and theater being the other two (for this semester, at least)

and i hate it

sometime in the next year or two i'll only be taking courses for my major/minor (compsci and japanese) so i'll be having a much more enjoyable experience

Hey guys what if they made a Pokemon related Smash Bros. reveal

I would much rather have Pokemon X squared and Y squared than Pokemon Z...

My careless predictions on tomorrow's Direct.

- majority of the video will be related to Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze

- Diddy Kong or less likely a new DK rep confirmed for SSB4.

- brief news concerning Pokemon contents or spin-offs.

- more information on New Yoshi's Island.

- a lot of information about Mario Kart 8

- minor series games like Prof. Layton, Disney games, & other games people don't pay attention to will get some attention.

Overall, I think this Direct will have heavy focus on Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8, New Yoshi's Island, & the new Prof. Layton. Everything else will be minor. With DK:TF & MK8 being 3 months apart, expect a drought for Nintendo through the first few months of the Spring. No wonder why they didn't have a Direct in Jan. 2014.

I'm just crossing my fingers that they'll announce an original title game.

Please, Nintendo.

Make something new.

Please.

Yeah Mewtwo is very unlikely to be confirmed here, mainly because of how close this is to Lucario.

Are all IPs Nintendo has made since Brawl (aside from Wonderful 101, which you already mentioned).
Granted, not all of them have potential characters to use, and most of them won't even get a character in Smash anyway (like dozens of OTHER IPs Nintendo had prior to Brawl...), but they are there, and they are proof Nintendo does continuously make new IPs. They just aren't nearly as successful as the older ones.

Just found out, this is actually the very last day of the Year of Luigi, so I'd expect some news on that too.

Who knows, maybe a different character will get a year.

Not sure if this makes a difference, but a majority of those titles are from partnerships with 2nd parties. With the exception of Monolith Soft & other Nintendo branch companies, ofcourse. But even then, a game like Xenoblade Chronicles appears to be a successor of Xenosaga.

I guess what Sven is trying to say is that there hasn't been any franchises worth buying that wasn't made directly by Nintendo only since Pikmin or Animal Crossing.
