Cuphead (Cuphead) Discussion: We're lookin' for fun! Ssbu_s10

"Oh, banana oil! Paint the fence, milk the goat, patch the roof! It's the same old stuff every day! What we need is a little fun and adventure"

Now you might be wondering who is this cartoonish cup fella? Well allow me for an explanation
Cuphead is the main character of the game Cuphead alongside his pal Mugman. One day they left without a care under the watchful eye of the wise Elder Kettle. The two cups wandered far from home and ended up into the Devil's Casino despite the warnings of Elder Kettle. Cuphead and Mugman appears in the casino playing craps complete with a winning streak. The streak caught the attention of the casino's manager King Dice and the owner of the casino - the Devil himself who forced the cups to win or else their souls will be stolen. Mugman didn't want Cuphead to go for the gold, yet the latter didn't listen only to realize that the cups lost. The Devil attempts to get their souls, but the cups wanted to figure out a way to repay him thus putting the cups into an adventure to fight against various characters. So that was the deal, the cups made a deal with the Devil.

Oh, i get it now, what is Cuphead as in the game then?

Well, Cuphead is a 2017 run-n-gun video game developed by Studio MDHR. The game is inspired by the rubber hose-style cartoons from the golden age of American animation with inspirations from the works of various companies like Walt Disney Animation Studios and Fleischer Studios. You get to fight against many bosses as well as do other segments as well. The game was so successful that it got itself an expansion DLC and a Netflix series called The Cuphead Show!

Ok I wanna play some Cuphead, where can I play it?

Well if you are interested in playing, I think you're in for a treat. If you want to play some Cuphead, check it out on Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, macOS, Nintendo Switch, Tesla, or the PlayStation 4. It only costs like $19.99.  Like a Star @ heaven

Why Cuphead?

I wanted another indie game character besides Shantae. One of my nominations for an indie game character happens to be this cup boi himself. Cuphead is one of the most iconic and successful indie games of the modern day. Cuphead became a big name to even having a Mii costume in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as well as Cuphead spirits appearing as well. You even got Cuphead appearing in Arby's for a limited time only as part of the kid's menu and already mentioned Netflix animated adaptation of Cuphead.

How would he fight?

Well, I got a move set to show you how he can fight.

Gimmick!:
I've noticed that newer versions of Crusade had Shadow, Agumon, and Goku using gimmicks so for Cuphead I decided to give him one. This gimmick is called the Super Meter, the Super Meter allows Cuphead to store up to 5 cards above his damage meter. Once the card is raised up, Cuphead can still continue to get more cards when he fights until he gets 5 cards available. The cards are supposed to make Cuphead's shots powerful. Depending on what weapon you are using, your weapon will be more powerful than before. I'll explain later the weapons.

Basic Attacks!:

Jab: This would be a combo jab. Cuphead would first punch with his right fist and then press again to punch with his left fist. Think of something like boxing or whatever. If you were to do the rapid jab, Cuphead would rapidly punch his opponents thus finishing off with a sucker punch. Feels so rubber hosey right?

Side Tilt: Kicks with his right foot. Basic right?

Up Tilt: Cuphead causes a brief fountain from his head due to how he has some liquid on his cup head. This is a blast of liquid that is guaranteed to launch opponents.

Down Tilt: Cuphead swipes his hand downwards. This can trip opponents if you know what you are doing. Good for comedy don't you think?

Dash Attack: This is based on his dash move from the original game. Cuphead does a swift dash that can damage opponents and dodge projectile attacks.

Smash Attacks!:

Side Smash: Cuphead uses the Giant Ghost from one of his super arts in his smash attacks. Cuphead manages to summon a buff ghost that punches the opponent greatly. I'd imagine him doing a wind-up punch similar to that of a 1930s cartoon

Up Smash: Cuphead uses the Giant Ghost to do a great uppercut.

Down Smash: Cuphead uses the Giant Ghost to spin around like a top while stretching his arms out for the attack.

Aerial Attacks!:

Neutral Air: Cuphead spun around with his straw turned into an ax. This is based on the Whetstone charm from the game.

Forward Air: With both of his fists, Cuphead does a short swing with them. The fists do enlarge too. Think of something like Mario's f-air but with two fists.

Back Air: Cuphead leans back thus using his straw to hit his opponents multiple times. The straw spins like a little helicopter.

Up Air: Spins his straw upwards. This can hit opponents multiple times.

Down Air: Does a series of stomps on the air in such a crazy and laughable fashion that is worth laughing at.

Throws!:

Grab:Cuphead grabs with both of his hands.

Pummel: Headbutts the opponent with his cup head (no pun intended)

F-Throw: His straw becomes a hand that grabs and tosses his opponent forwards like a catapult. The opponent is a fighter's icon in this throw. I'd imagine the character being transformed into the fighter's icon once Cuphead grabs the opponent (you know how the fighter's icon gets to appear in Mr. Game and Watch's throws somehow.)

B-Throw: His straw becomes a hand and grabs the opponent. The straw hand spins around in a circle and tosses the opponent backward

Up-Throw: His straw once again becomes a hand and grabs the opponent. The straw turns into a brief spiral that hit's the opponent a few times before launching

Down Throw: Cuphead's straw becomes a hand once again. It grabs the opponent and slams the opponent in such a cartoonish fashion.

Also before I go, do keep in mind that the hand straw originates from the Parry attack Cuphead uses so I thought it is clever seeing Cuphead using a hand straw some way other than parrying. Plus, this is cartoon physics were talking about.  lol!

Specials!:

Ok, this is where it gets interesting.

Down Special: Weapon Change: Cuphead will pull out an Equip Card with the color red on the card. Once he pulls it out, an icon on his card will change into a different symbol. That means that the weapon Cuphead now has is changed when that happens. Cuphead has 6 weapons to choose from. I would like to talk about that in my neutral special.

Neutral Special: Weapon Use: This is how Cuphead can use his weapon. Cuphead shoots a projectile that comes in different and unique ways thanks to his weapon choice. Here are the weapons. While shooting, Cuphead can still move.

Peashooter - It's your basic standard weapon. This works much like Fox's blaster complete with average damage.  This weapon gives off blue magical bullets that have good range. If you have a Super Meter card available, Cuphead can do the Mega Blast which is a huge Hadoken-like projectile that hits opponents 3 times.

Spread - This is a short-ranged weapon that shoots out red small bullets. They don't travel that far but are useful anyways. When you have a Super Meter card available, you can do the Eight Way. This fires 8 large spikes that deal high damage yet they move slow.

Chaser - This is a projectile that shoots out small green slow-moving projectiles that can home on the nearest target. It's weak but can chase those who are nearby. With the Super Meter card, you can change it to a Chaos Orbit which spawns four slightly bigger projectiles that circle Cuphead and protect him much like Mega Man's Leaf Shield. Once the set time shows up, the little projectiles fly off out of orbit.

Lobber - Shoots a purple ball that arcs upwards, falls back down, and bounces on the floor until it bounces twice and pops on the third contact of the floor. Deals great damage yet has some limited range. With the Super Meter card, it becomes a Kablooey which is a much larger shot yet it doesn't bounce like normal.

Charge - Shoots an orange wave. This is a chargeable move that will shoot a twirling projectile once charged. IF you got the Super Meter card, the move becomes a short-ranged, but a big burst of energy that can damage opponents.

Roundabout - Fires a boomerang-like projectile that behaves like a boomerang. Have a Super Meter card, you will do the Jumbo Rebound which launches a larger, thicker, and closed version of the shot, and yet it still behaves like a boomerang.

Now how do you activate the Super Meter shots? Well if you want to activate the Super Meter shots, press neutral special and shield together to activate it. That be a great way to do so. Each shot costs like one card from your Super Meter.

Side Special: Super Bomb Morph: Based on a Super Art during the plane segment. Transforms into a giant bomb that travels in a straight line. Cuphead can explode and go back to normal if you press again or come in contact with a wall, a projectile, or an opponent. Hey, it's a cartoon character so why not. Also, I imagine the explosion having a cartoonish boom effect.  Laughing

Up Special: Parry Slap Attack: Based on Parry Slap mechanic from the original game. Cuphead glows pink and flies in the direction inputted by the player. The play can choose to input either left, right, up or down. If Cuphead were to come in contact with the opponent, he would damage opponents and meteor smash foes. This is somewhat of a mix between Fox's and Captain Falcon's up specials. If he were to make contact with an opponent, he would get a bit of an extra air boost. Heck, Cuphead can still get a boost if he were to come in contact with a projectile.

Final Smash:
Energy Beam: This is based on one of his Super Arts. Cuphead does prepares himself thus firing a large stream of liquid from his head. This is a stream that goes horizontally and it's kinda like Samus' final smash but it's much quicker.

Extras:

Taunt: Cuphead pulls his pants with a determined look. Based on one of his animations from the game he comes from. To be frank, it seems like some characters only have one taunt.

Entrance to the stage: Cuphead gets off of the plane. The same plane that appears in the flying levels. In fact, I would like to see the announcer from Cuphead speaking while Cuphead appears. Here are some quotes the announcer could say

  • Good day for a swell battle!
This match will get red hot!
    Here's a real high-class bout!
A great slam and then some!
    A brawl is surely brewing!

Victory theme: Perhaps a shorter version of the Cuphead Victory Tune.

Victory Animation: Cuphead jumps up and down repeatedly with the words "A KNOCKOUT" appearing complete with the announcer from Cuphead saying it. He then places his hands on his hips.

Lose: Appears in a ghost form (much like his death animation from his game) and claps for the opponent.
