Corrin [Fire Emblem] Discussion

How does this relate to Corrin?

Woups you're right, I didn't even talk about Corrin.

He brings some interesting mechanics (his spear planting on the ground or characters for example) and might be a good surprise, I'd say it's better to wait his release on sm4sh before we see if he's interesting enough to be a good character in Crusade, but I'd support him as I feel like he's cool and we don't have many FE reps yet.

Frankly, seeing the Female Corrin in Crusade, isn't a bad idea XP.

We need more female characters in this game, please...

Still a bit hateful for Corrin. I feel like we need other FE reps before him/her.

I only play as male Corrin because playing with an erection is just not socially acceptable

After seeing some gameplay, I wouldn't mind seeing Corrin in. It would be cool if he/she was the 3DS FE rep over Robin, but I'd still prefer Robin. So I'm just gonna be the indifferent one like I've always been.

I don't have Corrin (Because I'm moving and my Wii U was one the first things to go into storage), but s/he is unique enough to be a choice. But the weebs tho

Now that the Fates is out of Japan and in the rest of the world, I feel like people could discuss this better.

I do have a very sour opinion against Corrin in Smash 4, partly because he is Promotional, and partly because we now have 2 Fire Emblem DLC characters. It isn't helped that he is only 5 months old in the US, and was released a month or 2 before Fates was even out of Japan. If we didn't have Roy in Smash 4, I would be less sour about Corrin. Like someone said, Roy was designed as a promotion in Melee, but by that standard, Marth was used as Promotion to any Non-Japanese players, along with Lucas and Shulk.

With all of that being said, Corrin in Crusade would be ok. I wouldn't pick him out as a main "contender" for a Fire Emblem character, but I would keep him as a potential character choice. His moveset is original (though not as much as Robin). Is there anything from Fates that isn't in Smash 4 that you think would work well for Corrin?


Edit: I will admit I prefer Roy over Corrin, but this is because Roy is much more accepted in the Smash community, and Roy is my "Ol Reliable" in Smash 4. However, that is the only real attribute Roy has over Corrin. That's not to say that one can't declone Roy, but as it stands in terms of Moveset originality, Corrin > Roy (but Robin > Corrin)

I was definitely not a fan of Corrin back when he was announced, although I have to say I love his/her moveset in Smash.
Though, I think the effort that could take adding the character would be spent better on other franchises.

So, no support unless Corrina (?)

Honestly, if it wasn't for Roy being the 3rd DLC character, I would be fine with Corrin. I don't much care that he/she can be considered "an advertisement," partly because I was actually expecting Wolf due to Star Fox Zero.

He did (He first appeared in the cut SNES game Starfox 2, before appearing in Starfox 64), but that doesn't mean that (re)introducing a character from a series with an upcoming release is never used as promotion

And with Xenoblade, very few people in the US even knew what Xenoblade was before Shulk's inclusion in Smash. I'm saying you could argue Shulk, just like Lucas and Marth (for non-Japanese fans).

For the Wolf part I was being sarcastic, I thought that was obvious :/

As for your point on Marth/Lucas/Shulk, with the first two their games HAD NOT BEEN RELEASED AT ALL IN THE WEST AT TIME OF INCLUSION.

Shulk's game had been out for years. I knew what it was long before Smash. It was a cult classic, like EarthBound.
