General Playstyle: Improv-Tactian
Megaman.EXE's playstyle will be based on how Battle Chips work in the Battle Network series. In the games, you are given a random set of Battle Chips, and you must use these until a gauge fills up, allowing you to pick another set of chips. This can lead Mega's playstyle to be dependent on what chips he draws, and the player's ability to adapt to what attacks he can use at a certain time.
Jab, Side Tilt, N-Air
Megaman's normal "buster" attack. This is inspired by both Megaman: Network Transmission, the Battle Network games themselves, and Megaman's attacks in Sm4sh. Megaman will basically fire his buster in a "rapid" motion, shooting a projectile each time the attack button is pressed while moving or jumping. Like in his home games, these projectiles won't cause the enemy to flinch, like Fox's lasers, but they'll only deal 1% of damage, like in the Battle Network series. It can be used to get extra damage on the opponent, just like how it's used in the home games.
Dash Attack - Dash G
Inspired by the "Dash" battle chip. Mega will don the helmet from the "Fishy" enemy and dash forwards a decent distance.
Neutral Special - Battle Chip
When Megaman.EXE is spawned, either at the beginning of the match or after a KO, he will automatically be given a random set of 5 Battle Chips. These chips all have different effects and function in different ways. Each Chip also has a different probability of appearing, with the "stronger" chips being rarer than the common ones.
Each chip can be once, and once the chip is used, the next available chip will be chosen. Once all chips have been used up, Lan will give you another random set of chips. While the chips are being chosen, the attack instead becomes a fairly weak punch attack. Each time Megaman loses a stock, his chip selection will automatically be replaced with another random assortment.
Side Special - Teleport
In the Battle Network series, Megaman moves from panel to panel by "teleporting" to each spot while in battle. When this special move is performed, Megaman will vanish and reappear a set distance forwards, dodging certain attacks for a split second. However, this attack has some ending lag, forcing him to be punished if he dodged an attack too early.
Up Special - Powie Hop
The Powie virus from the first game appears above Megaman, allowing him to hang onto him, and lift him in the air. After a few seconds, the Powie will transform into a weight, pulling it and Megaman down until they hit the floor. Imagine Pit's Brawl Up-B, mixed with Kirby's Final Cutter.
Down Special - Cross Change
This is inspired by Megaman's Crosses in the later Megaman Battle Network games, where Megaman can merge with other NetNavis. This can give Megaman special elemental effects to various attacks, change his Jab, Side Tilt and N-Air, and power up certain Battle Chips, however, they all have their drawbacks. If Mega is damaged too much while in one Cross, he will revert back to his normal state, and can't use this Cross until he loses a stock.
