Subject: Megaman Zero (Megaman Zero) Discussion Thu Aug 27, 2015 7:17 pm
I'm actually somewhat saddened that no one has made a topic about him yet. Let's do this.
"I never cared about justice, and I don't recall ever calling myself a hero... I have always only fought for the people I believe in. I won't hesitate... If an enemy appears in front of me, I will destroy it!"
Megaman Zero is the main protagonist of the Megaman Zero series. Revived by the scientist Ciel, he is the legendary Reploid who fought valiantly during the time of the Maverick Wars. Though this Reploid's soul is that of the Original Zero, the body found is a copy of him.

Discuss away! An idea I had is that if the Zero from Megaman X were to end up as a character, this Zero should be one of his forms.

No support. He is not iconic. He mostly is known because of how Capcom shoves him into random things.

No support, i would prefer the Zero from Megaman X series, also, Zero's moveset could use more weapons and not just use his sword. And Megaman X's Zero is closer to Megaman and X's design.

No thanks
Sure it's Zero, but I'd prefer the one in Mega Man X

Despite what the others are saying, I prefer the MMZ design over the original.

He/she's just saying that he isn't called "Mega Man Zero" That's just the name of the game to let people know it's still a "Mega Man" game.

I like MMZ Zero's visual design over X Zero's, but I'm iffy on the moveset. Not bad, but could be a little less generic. Now, I don't support this, because a character representing the main X series should get in first, and I think that it should be X Zero over Mega Man X since we already have Mega Man, and X is Mega Man 2.0 in all but canon. In fact, I always assumed X was the original Mega Man, just vastly upgraded and given full sentience. I mean, I know that isn't the canonical case, but is there anything to deny it? Where did the original Mega Man go? Or Roll, and Bass, for that matter? Sorry, getting carried away. Yeah, no support, sorry.

Having Mario as a profile pic means nothing, and absolutely NOBODY knew that Braystar means Braydan/Braydon + star. Also, not everyone checks profile pages.

I'm supporting because I am 100% biased and a massive fanboy to this version of Zero in particular.
Work on that moveset tho. Do something with the Zero Knuckle, similar to how Kirby works right now.
I'm out. I could go for days on what other parts of the moveset he could bring but I'm just gonna say "support" and leave this time.

It does sound like a good idea to replace the 1000 Slash with the Z-Knuckle, but i'm afraid of the Recoil Rod not having much of a place in the moveset. But I definitely see the Z-Knuckle working out better. To differ it from Kirby's Inhale, perhaps instead of copying the neutral special, it copies the side specials instead?

Actually I was going to have it as something of a D-Throw. After grabbing the opponent with the Chain Rod, he grabs them with the Zero Knuckle, slams them to the ground and "reads" their abilities (then it follows with the usual combo-friendly launching arc). The ability roster would be similar to how Kirby's currently works; Zero gains one of several abilities from his series depending on the character he grabbed. Then, Zero could activate the ability using Taunt, to keep his current moveset intact (of course, he could still use his ability in the air, despite being mapped to taunt). On the ground, Zero could press D+Taunt to discard the ability by materializing it and tossing it behind him. Depending on the weapon, it'll create a different explosion when it lands with varying power, ranging from a minor bugbite to killing potential, though the more powerful the explosion the weapon creates the less far it is thrown.
If you don't like the concept of the taunt, I suppose you could place the activation over either N-Spec or F-Spec, with Taunt being used to discard it.
If you don't like the concept of using the pre-existing weapons from MMZ4, you could have them use either N-Spec or F-Spec instead (this could vary from character, or be one or the other; dev's call).
If you don't like the D-Throw idea all together, then... Make it his F-Spec, I guess; I like the idea of him stealing F-Specs. Though if it's going to be F-Spec at least let him charge forwards a bit first, like with the Flame Choke.
