Subject: Boggy B (Worms) Discussion: Incoming!!! Fri Feb 20, 2015 8:45 am
Boggy B is an elite military soldier, mascot of Team17, and a well-known character from the Worms series, first appearing in the very first Worms game. He is the primary protagonist of the series, and his name even appears sometimes in the game, randomly as one of the automated Worm names while you create your own team. Spadge, another elite soldier and the series' possible deuteragonist, is Boggy B's best friend, and possibly his brother. Boggy B's most major appearances are in the Wormsongs, Worms Blast, and Worms Revolution, along with every other Worms game after Worms Revolution. Boggy B also has a nephew named Clagnut, another skilled Worm Soldier (Clagnut is Spadge's son, so this very likely means that Boggy B and Spadge are actually brothers, although it hasn't been confirmed by Team17 themselves), and also a younger sister named Suzette who only appears in Worms Blast as a playable character along with her brother. Boggy B is known to be one of the greatest and most powerful Worm Soldiers in the Worms universe.
Why Boggy B?
-The Worms franchise has been around for more than 20 years and is still going. -The Worms franchise also had at least one game on every Nintendo console from the SNES to the Wii. They even had games on the handheld systems from the Game Boy to the DS. -Boggy B would represent Artillery games, a genre that's not yet represented in Crusade or any Smash game for that matter.
Boggy B is a small, slow on land and little tough, but it compensates with powerful ranged attacks and major meelee attacks
Moveset By SnivyKawaii (CJ) and TaXMaN
Aerials:
Dair: Boggy B attacks his enemy with his pneumatic drill doing multi hits, if you hold the button, Boggy will continue with the atack
Bair: Boggy turns around and fires his pistol three times, each shot dealing 5% damage.
Nair: Boggy pulls out his Battle Axe and starts to turn in place.
Uair: Boggy throws an Dodgy Phone Battery, when it collides with an enemy, it electrocutes it and also to those who are close enough
Fair: Boggy uses the Tail Nail hammer and does a overhead swing forwards. Can meteor smash opponents. As a bonus, it will bury opponents if they’re hit while grounded.
Smash attacks:
Usmash: Boggy does a Fire Punch (a small shoryuken). The higher the charge, the higher Boggy will jump.
Ssmash: Boggy winds up and delivers a giant swing with his baseball bat.
Dsmash: Boggy lights a dynamite and drops it right in front of him. After that Boggy will be able to move around freely while the dynamite burns out it's fuse (think of Snake's d-smash, only that it works with a fuse instead of an instant detonation). The explosion deals MASSIVE damage but Boggy can also get hurt if he happens to be in the blast radius. When not fully charged Boggy will drop a land mine instead which explodes on contact but deals less damage than the dynamite.
Normal attacks:
Utilt: Boggy looks upwards and shoots an arrow in a U-shaped arc from his bow.
Stilt: Boggy pulls out his shotgun and shoots. The attack has some range but has a slow start-up because Boggy will have to pump his shotgun first (oddly enough, between Worms 2 and Worms World Party, your worm will always pump his shotgun before and not after the shot).
Dtilt: Boggy uses the Petrol Bomb. He simply throws it on the ground before him. The targeted area is then covered in flames for a quite a length of time (just like in Worms World Party/Armageddon).
Jab Combo: Boggy hits two punches and then shoots with his Minigun
Grab/Throws:
Boggy simply reaches forward to grab opponents.
Dthrow: Attacks his enemy with his blow torch doing multi hits, if you hold the button, Boggy will continue with the atack (it can only be extended up to 2 seconds).
Uthrow: Boggy throws his enemy up and attacks them with his flame thrower.
Sthrow: Boggy throws his opponent forward and uses his dragonball attack on them afterwards (similar to Ryu's Sthrow).
Bthrow: Boggy drags the enemy behind him and strikes him with his golf club.
Specials:
Nspecial (Bazooka): Boggy pulls out his bazooka and starts charging it. The shooting distance and power depends on how much he charges it. You can also aim up or down with the attack.
SSpecial (Grenade): Boggy pulls out one of four types of grenades and throws it. Like the bazooka it can be charged, the power and distance will depend on the charge time (You can also aim up or down).
The grenades Boggy can pull out are as follows:
1.Normal Hand Grenade: Is the one most likely to appear, has moderate damage.
2.Cluster Bomb: The grenade splits into several smaller explosives that each deal low damage. Has a slightly lesser chance to appear than the normal Grenade.
3.Holy Hand Grenade: Is unlikely to occur but does great damage and knockback. Right before detonating, a choir is heard singing “halleluja”.
4.Banana Bomb: Works a lot like the Cluster Bomb except that the smaller explosives cause great damage and knockback. Most unlikely grenade to appear.
Uspecial(Jetpack): Boggy uses his jetpack to recover, when he uses it he can move freely on the stage, but he must be careful not to run out of fuel! after this Boggy will fall into a helpess state
Dspecial (Walking Explosives): Boggy sends out walking explosives that come out in a certain order (Sheep, Skunk, Mad cow, Old Woman and back to Sheep). Only one can be out at a time.
1. Sheep: The sheep moves forward at a moderate speed. It jumps over pits or obstacles that are in it's path. It will turn around if it collides with a solid wall. Pressing Down B again will make it detonate causing moderate to high damage (note that a new walking explosive is NOT send out when a sheep is detonated).
2. Skunk: The skunk moves forward at a slower pace than the sheep and gives a small hop occasionally. Like the sheep, it turns around upon colliding with a wall. If the skunk comes in contact with an enemy it will poison them, causing them to receive damage over time. Self-destructs after a while.
3. Mad Cow: This cow rushes forward at a faster pace than the sheep but NEVER jumps. The cow explodes upon contacting an enemy or a solid wall. The explosion deals high damage.
4. Old Woman: Walks slowly forward for a few seconds and then explode. The explosion deals the most damage out of all walking explosives. Turns around upon colliding with a wall.
Final Smash (Armageddon): Boggy freezes himself in a block of ice rendering him immobile but invincible. Meteorites, both big and small, start to fall on the stage from different angles. The damage of a meteorite depends on their size.
Other Moves:
Dash: Boggy is summit of blue fire and charges forward (similar to Bison's Psycho Crusher) and explodes causing a little damage to Boggy
Get up: Boggy fires uzis on either side of him.
Ledge: Boggy pulls out his chainsaw and aims it at the floor.
Crawl: Yes
Other:
Entrance: Leaps from his plane and lands with a parachute.
Taunt: Pulls out his Skip go rope and skips several times.
Taunt 2: Boggy takes a sip of his coffee cup
Taunt 3: Says “You missed!” with a mocking smile.
Lose: Waves a white flag in surrender or Actives a detonator and explodes dropping a gravestone
Win: Jumps up and down with his hands up while yelling “Victory!”
Win 2:Boggy does a backflip and then lets out a mocking smile
Win 3:Boggy puts both hands together and starts shaking them from side to side
Size: Boggy’s size ranges between Pichu and Olimar.
Weight: Boggy’s weight is a little less heavy than Pichu

YES! FULL support from me! I pretty much grew up with the Worms franchise.
I few thoughts, though:
1. Maybe we can replace the d-smash with a stick of dynamite. Basically Boggy lights a dynamite and drops it right in front of him. After that Boggy will be able to move around freely while the dynamite burns out it's fuse (think of Snake's d-smash, only that it works with a fuse instead of an instant detonation). The explosion deals MASSIVE damage but Boggy can also get hurt if he happens to be in the blast radius. Note that only one dynamite stick can be out at a time.
2. U-tilt should be the Fire Punch. As the name states it deals fire damage.
3. I think S-tilt can be his shotgun. The attack has some range but has a slow start-up because Boggy will have to pump his shotgun first (oddly enough, between Worms 2 and Worms World Party, your worm will always pump his shotgun before and not after the shot).
4. To make up for D-tilt, Boggy can use the Petrol Bomb. He simply throws it on the ground before him. The targeted area is then covered in flames for a quite a length of time (just like in Worms World Party/Armageddon). Like the dynamite, Boggy can move freely around while the flames continue to burn. If he were to use this attack again, the new targeted area will be covered in flames and the previous flames will burn out.

Oh my goodness! A worms rep! Count me in!
Though, one thing bothers me a little bit...I've looked far and wide in this text, but I can't seem to find anything from Worms 4 Mayhem, which is my favorite. I mean, I played Worms 2 and then Worms 4 and was blown away by the former mentioned's awesomeness, so something from that game would really make my day.
His down tilt could be the Tail Nail, which would have a fairly slow startup but also have the power to bury foes, like Villager's down smash.

Well, there is the Icarus potion from Worms 4 Mayhem that's used for his multiple jumps.

Oh, okay. I was doubtful since he said "In worms GAMES" not "In Worms 4 Mayhem". The Tail Nail would still be pretty cool, and the Dynamite should totally be used for his Down Smash. But since it can deal damage to yourself in the Worms games, how about adding that into his Down smash? If you press the jump button just as the dynamite explodes, you will leave yourself vulnerable to punishing attacks, but if you don't you'll get hurt by 10%, but with no knockback.

I don't think I follow you... is this taking my version in account or is it a completely new version you had in mind?

Another alternative, in case moving around while using a smash is too hard to code.

That shouldn't be too hard. I mean, if they can code Snake's down smash, they can code my version of Boggy B's down smash. (not that I'm saying my idea is superior over everyone else's)

True, true. Totally forgot about Snake tbh. Now that you mention it, wouldn't they 2 be a tad similar? I mean, they're both soldiers armed to the teeth with weapons. I suggest Boggy B has a more wacky arsenal, to make his cartoon-y side stand out from Snake and all of his M-rated games or whatever.

He could come out of the ground like a worm, or kind of like he does when he takes fall damage.

They are similar (except the dynamite is fuse-based instead of instantly detonating on contact) but dynamite is pretty much one of the most iconic weapons in the Worms series. Explosions aren't new to Worms so it won't feel out of place. Plus, it gives that same "RUNAWAY!" feeling Worms always had.
Also here's some more ideas
1. Since the S-smash has been changed to the golf club maybe we can incorporate the Baseball bat somewhere else in his moveset like his Bair or his Bthrow.
2. I think it would make more sense if the Blowtorch was Boggy's dash attack instead of his Sthrow (since it's a continuous forward motion).
3. To make up for the Sthrow, Boggy throws his opponent forward and uses his dragonball attack on them afterwards (similar to Ryu's Sthrow).

Is his up tilt a fully charged arrow (Aka a bland projectile) or just a weak arrow that goes in a U-shaped arc? The second option would be pretty cool.

I think the second option is the best
have also an idea to smash down when not fully charged could put a mine and when fully loaded puts dynamite, that would leave room for a new down special

The mine could be moved to his down smash, I would have no problem with that. His new down special could be the sentry gun, black hole or bubble trouble. Personally I'm in favor of the Sentry Gun, but the Black hole would be really cool too.

Good idea! I'm guessing that the mine would explode on contact but deals less damage than the dynamite.
Maybe the animal weapons (sheep, mad cows, skunk, etc.) can be worked into Boggy's down special, since they are some of the most iconic weapons in the game. Here's how it works: Unlike Boggy's side B, Boggy will send out animals that come out in a certain order. Using Down B the first time will make Boggy send out a sheep. Using it the second time will send out a skunk. Using it a third time will send out a Mad cow. After that it will go back to sheep.
Sheep: The sheep moves forward at a moderate speed. It jumps over pits or obstacles that are in it's path. It will turn around if it collides with a solid wall. Pressing Down B again will make it detonate causing moderate to high damage (note that a new animal is NOT send out when a sheep is detonated).
Skunk: The skunk moves forward at a slower pace than the sheep and gives a small hop occasionally. Like the sheep, it turns around upon colliding with a wall. If the skunk comes in contact with an enemy it will poison them, causing them to receive damage over time.
Mad cow: This cow rushes forward at a faster pace than the sheep but NEVER jumps. The cow explodes upon contacting an enemy or a solid wall. The explosion deals high damage.

It is a good idea I was thinking about how we could get to the animals
could be his final smash, Armageddon as it says in the first post, or nuclear bomb to poison all the characters on screen making them obvious constant damage(except Boggy) or air strikes boggy convenes several air strikes as Concrete Donkey, Mail Strike, MB bomb, Poison Strike, etc

Hmm... I'm still deciding to vote for either Concrete Donkey or Armageddon (though the several air strikes combination seems pretty interesting too).
Just a small detail to add, if Boggy's final smash is Armageddon he should use his freeze ability before the meteors comes down to earth (since he can't take damage in a frozen state). After the final smash is over he will defrost again.
