Subject: Primid (SSBB; The Subspace Emissary) Discussion: Straight from Subspace Wed Jul 13, 2016 5:27 am
Primids are sandbag-like creatures that are filled with a substance known as Shadow Bugs, and are the most common enemy in SSBB's story mode, The Subspace Emissary. Due to this, the Primid has many different variants, such as the Scope Primid, Boom Primid (has a Boomerang), Sword Primid, Fire Primid, Big Primid, and Metal Primid.
So why Primid?:
The Primid is a good way to represent the main Super Smash Bros series without resorting to boss characters (like Tabuu or Master Hand) or the Mii Fighters (due to their customization). Along with this, the Primid also represents Brawls unique story mode, The Subspace Emissary (SSE), very well, being the most common enemy in it (only missing in 4 or 5 of its 25 levels). Unlike the Fighting Teams, the Primid is not based on any fighter either, giving them the possibility of a unique moveset.
Attributes:
Walk Speed: Average: Its a basic, so make it basic (similar to Mario) Dash Speed: Below Average: Similar to Luigi in Smash 4 Weight: Below Average: Similar to Toon Link in Smash 4 Crawl: No Wall Jump/Wall Cling: No Falling Speed: Somewhat low: Similar to SSB Wii U's Olimar Jump height: Average Air Speed: Above Average: Similar to Mega Man in Smash 4 Air Acceleration: High: Similar to Bowser Jr in Smash 4 Air Deceleration: High Air Friction: High: They seem to stop quickly in the air in SSE Traction: Average. Size: Average: Similar to Mario
As a fighter, the Primid would be about stage control. While its mobility wouldn't be terrible, it wouldn't be anything spectacular. Its weight would be low, as Primids are fairly fragile in SSE. That being said, it has access to 3 projectiles (including its forward tilt) and 2 specials that can help guard a specific part of the stage
Attacks:
Jab: The Primid punches forward, then kicks. The kick can be followed by either an infinite jab (A rapid Punch) or a more traditional finisher (A push) Forward Tilt: The Primid throws a boomerang forward. Slow, but has great range. Up Tilt: The Primid jumps up while spinning with its arms out. Similar to Olimar's, though can hit further due to the Primid's larger size Down Tilt: The Primid kicks low similar to Mario Dash Attack: The Primid trips forward, falling over, and slides forward for a short distance. Similar to King Dedede's, though faster and not nearly as powerful Forward Smash: The Primid charges up its fist with fire and punches downward. Though it has short range and punishable end lag, it starts up somewhat quickly, and has great knockback Up Smash: The Primid breaths a stream of fire above itself. Somewhat similar to Zelda's, the Primid's Up Smash covers a larger area, but it lasts a long time, making it punishable should it miss. Down Smash: The Primid grabs out a green beam sword and performs a spin attack. Similar to the other Smash Attacks, it has some end lag, but this one covers a large amount of area Neutral Air: The Primid performs a basic Sex Kick. Forward Air: The Primid grabs out a green beam sword and slashes out in front of itself. Has good range and power. Back Air: The Primid breaths fire behind itself. Multihit attack that is somewhat similar to Mr G&W's back air in terms of use. Up Air: The Primid swings above itself with a beam sword. Similar to Corrin's Up Air. Down Air: The Primid stomps down. Its foot can meteor smash opponents. Grab Air: The Primid throws out a Chain of Light. The end of the Chain can KO at moderately high percent. Grab: The Primid throws out a Chain of Light. Good range, but laggy. Pummel: The Primid head-butts the opponent Forward Throw: The Primid punches the opponent forward. Back Throw: The Primid throws the opponent backwards Up Throw: The Primid throws the opponent up and breaths fire on them Down Throw: The Primid throws the opponent onto the ground, becomes Medal, and jumps onto the opponent. (He turns back to regular at the end of the move) Neutral Special: Scope Shot: The Primid grabs out an orange, Super-Scope like weapon and fires 3 small bolts of electricity. It can be charged up to fire a larger, KO-powered blast. Similarly to Palutania's Bow and Silver Bow, the attack can be aimed upwards. Side Special: Trackball: A Trackball (A sphere on a rail) appears in front of the Primid and can be attacked, launching it forward. Tapping the Special button creates a basic line, while holding the special button will allow you to "draw" its path, similar to PAC-MAN's Power Pellet. Depending on the power of the attack, the Trackball's speed and power will increase. After 3 hits, the TrackBall disappears. Others can also use the Trackball. Using Trackball again while one exists will move it to the Primid's location. Up Special: Auroros: The Primid grabs onto an Auroros, a robotic bird with a large beak, which brings it upwards. At the peak of the recovery, the Primid lets go. The Auroros will stay where the recovery ended for a short time, and will dive onto the first enemy that goes under it. When it dives, the Auroros can get stuck in the ground, making it able to be picked up and thrown as an item. The Ground version simply has the Primid throw one up in the air. Down Special: Mite Portal: A Subspace Portal (Called Generators in the 3DS's Smash Run) appears behind the Primid, which will release Mites, small, paper thin opponents. The Mites attack by jump kicking. The Portal (and Mites) will eventually disappear, though the Portal can also be destroyed by attacking it. Only one Portal can exist at a time. The Mites and aura of the Portal will match the owner's player color (P1 Red, P2 Blue, ect) or team color. Final Smash: Subspace Bomb: A Subspace Bomb lands on the stage and explodes. It covers a large amount of the screen, damaging anyone in its radius. However, it can be avoided on larger stages due to the start-up timer.

Misc:
On-Screen Appearance: Shadow Bugs fall from the sky and form together, creating the Primid. Idle Animation: The Primid looks around Taunt: The Primid puts its hands on the sides of its head and shakes its head. It gives out a sort of laugh while doing this. Victory Pose: The Primid poses as if to accept cheers from an audience Victory Fanfare: The "Classic: Results Screen" song from SSB Brawl, though the version used should be the one that plays after defeating Tabuu (It has a build-up to the fan-fare and ends with an echoey noise)
Spoiler:
Home Stage: Subspace Series Symbol:The symbol of SSE, this appears on many enemies in this game mode, Primids included Kirby Copy Ability: Using current Crusade abilities, Kirby would get Fighter. Eventually, the Primid would give Kirby the Poison ability, due to the Shadow Bugs that it is made out of (Brought to my attention by OmegaSteve777) Pallet Swaps

So, its moveset is designed around taking up space? A fitting role for something designed to be minion filler. Nicely done.
Couple of suggestions: 1. The Mites that come out of the Primid's portal do not sport random colors; rather, to accommodate the fact that mirror matches are a thing, the Mites' colors will correspond with the player's controller port (P1 = red, P2 = blue, etc) or team color. 2. Maybe Trackball can be like PacMan's Side B? Like, you can curve the track itself from the palm of your hand a set distance, and the ball spawns next to you once you regain control of Primid. Like PacMan's hazards, it wouldn't last very long (one or two hits, maybe) and the opponent can still hit it back, but having control over its speed depending on the strength of the launching hit can make for an incredible tool for stage control. This property is more in reference to the Trackballs being on, well, tracks of different shapes instead of just a straight line.
Support.

I was actually thinking of how the SSE has many obstacles you need to avoid, but I guess that and Filler can be considered similar
1: Right. Forgot about that. Added the Color changes 2: I changed it to where tapping the special makes a basic line, but holding the special button allows you to "draw" a path, somewhat similar to PAC-MAN's SSB4 Side Special, and it can take 3 hits/launches
And of course, thanks for the support

I'm conflicted if I want to support or not, mainly because I don't like the idea of Smash original characters in the roster (Like Master Hand and Tabbu) and the fact Primids are basic enemy, like a Koopa Troopa. You can make a moveset for it, but it's still a basic.

Understandable. I just wanted to give a little nod to the Subspace Emissary, and, despite being the basic soldier, the Primid is also the best fit for the representation.
Also updated the Primid's Up Air, and added what Kirby could get from Primid

Primid could potentially get Poison from Primid, because of the shadow bugs. In Robobot you get Poison from the Ganondorf amiibo, so it's not that big of a stretch. I just don't want it to be fighter because that a lot of characters give fighter already.

In that case, Poison will work out.

Also I support because I kinda like the idea of a fighter from Smash Bros.

Updated the main post with the Home Stage. The victory fanfare is there as well, but I couldn't find the proper version of the song (the one that plays on the result screen after defeating Tabuu), so the normal version will have to do.

Made some edits to make this match the formatting of the "Sash Lilac" thread. This mainly includes the following
Updated Attributes to better describe the character's physics
Added reference pictures to attacks wherever possible
The information present is practically unchanged as of right now though, so those who already did or did not support do not have to re-read to re-consider. That is all.

I do like the moveset, but it feels a little weird for a Primid moveset to exist without the Big Primid. But I do support the Primid joining Crusade as a ssb rep.

I guess it could be his Final Smash (In similar vein to Giga Bowser or Big Mac), but I feel like I have to represent the Subspace Bomb somewhere

The Subspace Bomb should stay as its main Final Smash, but maybe the Big Primid could be a alt FS (the majority of sprites used to make the primid could be used for it since visually all the Primid would do is change its size )
