Dusknoir is the Ghost-Type Gripper Pokemon, most notable for his role in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky, where he was the main antagonist in the pre-credits storyline.

Dusknoir is a primarily black Pokémon somewhat resembling a cyclops. Its cylindrical head is light gray with a single eye that has a yellow iris and a red pupil. There is a yellow band near the top of its head, and a short, yellow antenna with a disc-shaped tip extends from on top. Six flat projections extend from the base of its neck and surround its head, resembling an upturned collar. Dusknoir has well-developed arms with two yellow bands near its wrists and large, gray hands. On the front of its torso are two almond-shaped marking, and on its back are two circular markings. Both sets of markings resemble eyes. A yellow band encircles its body, zigzagging along the front and forming a long curve around the back. It has a wispy tail in place of feet.
The antenna on Dusknoir's head allows it to receive transmissions from the spirit world, which tell it to bring people there. However, the anime has also shown it protecting people from being taken to the spirit world. The band on its body can open, similar to a mouth. It uses this ability to take spirits into its body and carry them home or as it travels to unknown places.

How he would appear in game: simple, just use the sprites from Mystery Dungeon.

Because sprites used in an overhead dungeon crawler are PERFECT for a fighting game. /sarcasm

You might want to separate his moveset from that particular sprite sheet. Come up with a playstyle that would fit Dusknoir, then create moves accordingly. Imagine him in the style of characters that are already sprited for Crusade.

Also, don't copy a paragraph from bulbapedia and slap it on your OP. You'll be more likely to have support from other members if you put effort into your description and type it yourself. Include details like why he'd be a good fit for a Smash game, what he would play like, etc.

Why...why did the OP comment on his own post with pictures of Sableye, Dialga, and a thumbnail for a No Commentary Playthrough of Explorers of Sky?

Also, yeah, put more effort into the moveset, don't limit it to pre-existing sprites because they most likely won't be used, especially ones like these, look at other Suggestions like LegoShaq's, so on and so forth.

Not yet. I want to see what he'll do to try and fix his entry.

He's clearly a guy who's enthusiastic about Explorers of Time/Darkness. I actually really enjoyed EoT myself, but alas, it was a rental. Yes, I rented DS games. Blockbusters were weird in my area.

I personally think enthusiasm given focus is a powerful force for creativity. I'd like to see him have the opportunity to make a better case for Dusknoir. He's not the worst Pokemon you could make into a playable character in a Smash game, IMO.

Awful choice for a Mystery Dungeon rep. I love Dusknoir, but come on. Grovyle. Ampharos. If we get any kind of Dark type shouldn't it be Gengar (I believe he's a dark type)

You gave NOTHING about how the moves work, just frames for them. This is a trainwreck, OP. No reasoning, either.

Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar are all Ghost/Poison types. Duskull/Dusclops/Dusknoir are pure Ghost types.

As much as Grovyle would be cool, I think Sceptile's appearance in Pokken Tournament makes him a just as eligible bachelor combatant as Grovyle. Ampharos would be awesome if we weren't already stuck with the definitive Electric-type and his baby form.

This leaves only one viable option for Mystery Dungeon representative:

I think that is a pretty poor reason to disclude a Pokemon. Pikachu is more of the "Mascot." Sure it is a pure electric type, but that doesn't mean it should be the only one, especially if one is unique to a particular portion of the series.

Yeah, but considering how many Pokemon types there are, it's hard to justify having three Electric-types before we have even one [insert any of the many unrepped types here]. Being a prominent character in Mystery Dungeon is the kind of thing that helps, though.

As the Ampharos thread creator, I don't really think being another Electric type is a huge point against him. He's got a totally different design, and as a PMD rep his moveset would also be completely different.

also doesn't that argument apply a thousand times more to wigglytuff

That said, Super alone offers Mawile, Espurr, and Mew as alternate PMD reps.

Heh. I hated Super Mystery Dungeon.

Anyway, as for Dusknoir, as much as I absolutely love him in every way, I'm gonna have to go with no.

First of all, this forced usage of the sprite sheet is stupid, awkward, forced, and stupid. We'd obviously be creating new sprites for him anyway.

Secondly, we have SO MANY Pokémon reps, and as for Mystery Dungeon representation, Grovyle trumps Dusknoir in importance, and is equivalent in awesome-ness.

No support.
