Here, we will discuss the various movies made by both acclaimed anime film director and mangaka Hayao Miyazaki, and Ghibli, the studio he co-founded in 1985 along with director Isao Takahata (Grave of the Fireflies) and producer Toshio Suzuki, whom produced many of Ghibli's movies. Ghibli and its acclaimed directors/producers have created some of the most acclaimed animated films ever made. Here's a short list:
-Spirited Away -Princess Mononoke -My Neighbor Totoro -Grave of the Fireflies -Kiki's Delivery Service -Castle in the Sky (My personal favorite)
As stated, these films have received widespread acclaim from many fans of both animation and film, due to their wonderful animation, well-rounded characters, excellent soundtracks (Many of which come from Award-winning composer Joe Hisaishi), and strong plots. Even those who generally don't care for or despise anime have claimed to be fans of their works.
If you haven't seen any of their movies yet, I highly recommend you do so, regardless of your thoughts about anime. Either way, let us discuss.
*Please post spoiler tags if you are going to discuss plot points in any of these films.

Spirited Away is the best anime film I've seen, with Castle in the Sky a very close second.

For me, Princess Mononoke is first place. Spirited Away comes close second, then Howl's Moving Castle.

I've been meaning to get into Miyazaki's work for a while now.
Suggestions for a starting point?

Spirited Away is a perhaps the best starting point for his work. It exemplifies everything that makes Miyazaki's movies such wonderful films.

I agree, Spirited Away is a great starting point. Though it's a common favorite, so it could be argued that you should watch others first.

I recommend Spirited Away, or if you want a thicker plot (imo) then try Princess Mononoke or Howl's Moving Castle. My Neighbor Totoro is nice if you want something... adorable.

I'm start with Castle in the Sky myself, it gives you a great sense of Miyazaki in action, and it saves some of his best work for Spirited Away.
Alternatively, Spirited Away is meant to feel so alien, that maybe having it as your first Miyazaki film would magnify the experience.

I don't care what anyone says
Grave of the Fireflies is the greatest Studio Ghibli film and the most emotional animated film ever made
if you haven't watched it, you have to now
