PostSubject: Some character changes that the new version really needs   Sun Mar 20, 2016 3:39 pm

I haven`t posted anything on here for a good while, so here I go:

Crusade`s newest version is looking very clean, so this are some character changes which I feel like would make the game better/more enjoyable for some people:

Link:
-Give him his regular boomerang!
I know that Link`s boomerang can be used in the air on crusade, but that`s still no enough.
Link`s current side-b in Crusade is quite outdated and uninspired for me personally, so I feel like the Crusade team should really change it to the regular boomerang that all Link mains love to use, it`s more fun and more enjoyable to use.
(Giving him some buffs based on Smash4 would be really nice too)

Toon Link:
-Making him more similar to Link
I know a lot of people might be against this, but I feel like it would not be a big deal if Toon Link got his original moveset back.
In the original smash games Link and Toon Link sure share some similarities, but they play comepletely differently, they both feel like completely different characters when you play as them, I understand that the Crusade team wanted to make Toon Link more unique, but I feel like those big changes where quite unnecessary as Toon Link has always felt differently to Link anyways, I would love to see Toon Link having his moveset from smash4 in crusade, but that`s my opinion and you can feel free to disagree.

Tingle:
-Give him a better neutral b
Instead of pushing him backwards, Tingle should be able to throw rupees while standing still, maybe make him able to throw more rupees repeatedly while lowering their knockback would be cool to, just make the move more fun to use in general!

Kirby:
-Copy abilities
I understand how hard would it be for the Crusade team to make more than 50 copy abilities for Kirby beacuse of how many characters there are in Crusade, but the copy abilities are probably the most fun thing about Kirby in smash, with enough effort I feel like you guys could do it!

Little Mac/Duck Hunt/Pacman:
-Give them their Smash4 moveset
Sakurai is a god in making amazing movesets, so naturally these 3 have much more fun and creative movesets on smash4, in Crusade their moveset are not really as fun as in smash4, so I feel like they should change them to the ones from smash4.

(I would also like to see characters getting the buffs that they have gotten through the smash4 patches to make them better)

Balance changes:
This are some moves which I think are a bit broken:
-Toad`s up-b (goes quite a high distance and hits opponents too, that`s just a bit unbalanced)
-Ashley`s up-b (You can move such big distances with it and you can even hit opponents meanwhile, it should not really hit opponents or it should not be able to move so much)

Lastly, these are the characters that really need a resprite to make them fit with the rest of the cast:
-Fox
-Falco
-Krystal
-Zero Suit Samus
-Marth

Thanks for reading all of this and I am really hoping the guys behind Crusade consider what I just wrote, good luck with the new version! Very Happy

1. This post is in the wrong place, this is for official discussions about characters in Crusade.
2. There is nothing wrong with Link's boomerang.
3. No, Toon Link does not need to be more similar to Link. If Young Link was to come to Crusade, do you think he'll be the same? No.
4. I think that's for balancing, I'm not entirely sure.
5. I think proper Copy abilities would be one of the last things to be done because of the spriting.
6. Lel no. While certain parts and aspects of the Smash 4's movesets can be used, the devs aren't going to change characters because they are in Smash 4.
7. Like with Link, there is no need to change those Up B's. They are A-OK.
8. We know those sprites are crap, they are getting fixed.
9. What`s with this " ` " stuff? You use " ' ". Basic grammar goes a long way m8.

Soo you what sm4sh for PC? Because that's basically what you wrote.

Lets talk about what you wrote:

Link's S-Special is way better than the boomerang, plus they didn't even get rid of it. Think about it, would you rather have one basic boomerang or four potential kill moves and a basic boomerang?

Toon Link should defiantly not be changed. Him getting homage to Wind Waker is a good thing. While I will still use Toon Link in official smash games, I like him the best in this game because he isn't too much of a clone, something that I wish wasn't such a big thing in recent smash installments.

Crusade is trying to be unique with it's moveset's and not blatantly copy the official smash series. If the dev's wanted to use the sm4sh moveset's for characters they would have by now. But they said that they aren't anyway which is good because the moveset's they have now are fine.

With the U-Specials, they aren't unbalanced. They may seem unbalanced but with Toad he needs an U-Special like that because he is weak with the shortest range attacks in the game. So a move like that is great for him, plus he goes into a free fall state which can easily be punished. The same goes for Ashley.

The sprites list should not be here because the dev's have been getting request for a LONG time about sprites, and stating that they should be fixed isn't the best suggestion because they have been working on it for a while and telling them that isn't going to make them work faster. It will get done.

I'm not trying to put you down but nothing should really be changed because everything is fine as it is.

I'd rather have none of the two and have the Gale Boomerang from Brawl instead, because that one has Windboxes, and Windboxes are exactly the kind of buff that Link really needs.

I want to reiterate here that the Crusade Dev Team does include some SM4SH stuff when necesary. Example: Ryu in the Update Trailer, some of MegaMan's normals, and there are talks about giving Pac-Man his Hydrant from Smash 4 (although people are still unsure, which special move the Hydrant should replace).
When something from Smash 4 was not implemented in Crusade, then it only means that either Crusade did it better or the dev team simply doesn't like what Smash 4 did.

Tingle's nspec should be changed entirely IMO. Somehow implementing his balloon gimmick from Hyrule Warriors might work, or something with the Tingle Fireworks from Rosy Rupeeland. His existing nspec is kinda worthless, and it doesn't represent his character at all (he's meant to be greedy, he wouldn't just toss out rupees). Relatedly, since Rosy Rupeeland uses rupees as health he should have rupees burst out when he's hit, just as a visual effect.

The brawl boomerang could be in i guess bounce

I don't mean for the dev's to just ignore sm4sh stuff, but in his OP he said to change them COMPLETELY into their sm4sh forms which is something I think a majority of the people can agree would be a terrible move. Some sm4sh stuff would be ok, but to just copy and paste them from sm4sh to crusade would be a really bad idea.

Copy-paste thinks from Smash 4 would be only okay if you were trying to make a Smash 4 PC Edition or if you were trying to make a Smash Bros fangame that tries to look as official of a sequel as possible.

Me? I always wanted to do the later.

To be honest, I don't even know how Link's side special works in this game.

Anyway, I agree that Toon Link needs some changes, but I don't think recloning him is the way to go.

As far as Pacman goes, pls no. I personally think that he plays way better in Crusade than he does in sm4sh.

I think I've thought of an alternate Tingle nspec - just change the Rupee to a bomb, with the same arc but with an explosion on hit. More useful, and more representative of his character (he uses bombs heavily in Hyrule Warriors).

Duck Hunt at least is a far more interesting character in Smash 4 with the specials, I definitely wouldn't mind the Smash 4 specials as an alternate playstyle at the very least.

There is something wrong with his boomerang, only being able to use it in the air kinda get annoying and his ground side-b is kind of bland...

Spriting would not be that big of a deal in the topic of copy abilities, but programming it would be quite hard though, but I still think it would be worth it, if they can make palletes for every character then they can definetly put enough work into making Kirby have his copy abilities.

I want them to change the chars beacuse they are more interesting in smash4, but if the don`t wanna do that then I can understand why.

Those up-bs are a bit unbalanced

I just wanted to say what I would like to see, not saying any of this is completely necessary

I don`t think that adding the gale boomerang would be a problem, it`s very unique and more interesting than the current side-b which is quite bare-bones...

You are quite right about Toon Link, but I would just prefer to have smash4 Toon Link beacuse it would be fun to mess around with him on a different game that isn`t smash4. What I wrote is basically what I would like to see and NOT what I think is necessary.

Characters have different movesets in Crusade beacuse it came out before Smash4 m8, they can easily change them on the new version but I guess I can see why they wouldn`t do that. The movesets in Crusade are not fine, the ones in smash4 are far superiror and more fun to mess around with.

The up-specials are indeed unbalanced, specially Ashleys. Toad`s is way too effective considering how high it goes, yes it OBVIOUSLY puts him on free fall like any other recovery ever, but that still doesn`t make it balanced beacuse the start of the move is a liiitle bit weird, well not as weird as Ashelys...
Ashley has a ton of mobity on the battlefield which is kind of ridicolous, she can move at any direction with decent speed, on top of that she hits any opponent in the way, making this a recovery that`s almost immposible to deal with if you are the oppnent.

I didn`t know about the sprites thing sry.

This list is what I wanna see and nobody should take it seriously, if you disagree then that`s totally fine Smile

I think it could still be the rupee but implemented more innovatively and less useless. Maybe they can have some kind of pointer moving up and down and when you press the button he shoots lots of rupees in that direction, that would be way more interesting.

You are not very right in terms of "senseful", their games along with other classics are represented on a better way on smash4, and their movesets there are also much more creative and therefore more fun.

I definitely think Pac should be kinda blended with his Sm4sh set - Sm4sh is a really cool and fun character in a lot of ways but Crusade references the Pac-Man World games better.

I totally think Duck Hunt needs to just get his Sm4sh set but if the devs don't wanna do that I can't fault 'em for it

@JCrv: First off, don't double post. Please use the edit button instead.

You keep stating Link's current side B is bland. I'd like to hear why you think so (and no, don't just say "because his gale boomerang is more unique").

Regarding Kirby's copy abilities, spiriting will be the main issue. Like you said, it's 50+ character abilities that have to be made but some abilities need 2 or more animations (think Lucario's N special). Not saying palletes don't take much effort but they're way easier to make than spiriting 50+ copy abilities.

I haven't found any use for the Chomp, safe to say sadly; It's weak, slow and more or less you're better using a neutral side attack or Pac's up B instead. Bonus fruit would be okay though I would like all of the PMW games to be represented, personally.

Again: A faster Butt-Bounce delay and the shockwave would make it perfect.

I definitely think Pac should just get his Sm4sh nspec and dspec. The ones he has sucks, the Sm4sh versions are really cool, and the dspec references Pac-Land, which isn't repped in the current moveset at all.

Well, you can potentially break shields with it and it has some armour. You can travel faster/slower and up/down which I find cool.

A lot of users on here think so and who can blame them. They are pretty fun moves to use. As a side note, Pac-Land is technically already repped in his move-set.
