SSB4: Guess the Reveal Characters

Back when Brawl was announced we had a load of new characters reveal themselves in the first trailer, we had Metaknight, Pit, ZSS, Wario and Snake if I remember right. This thread is different from the Checklist Thread, as I want you to predict which characters are going to be revealed at the very first hurdle, in the reveal trailer coming in just a couple weeks.


Personally, I think we'll have these 5 characters unveiled to start.
Toad
Shulk
Ridley
Lil Mac
Pac-Man

Pac-Man would obviously be the big bombshell at the end of the trailer, like Snake. On a side note, I think we'll see Link change into his Skyward Sword form for SSB4 too.

I personally don't see Toad or Ridley being playable.

I'm going to play it safe and just say Pac Man.

I don't see Toad making it SSB4, mainly because there are a lot of other Mario characters that are more viable, like Paper Mario, or Bowser Jr.

And as far as Capcom characters go, I find Megaman more likely than Ryu.

I remember in an early article about SSB4 they said there wouldn't be very many newcomers, if any at all. If they do reveal, I would imagine some pokemon from a newer generation, Shadow, Geno, Pac-Man (Because Namco association) and Megaman (Because Capcom said they wanted a character in SSB)

I forgot about Namco, I'll change my Ryu guess to Pac-Man.

Also, I think Toad is way more likely now than he was, especially now that Toads are being used as playable characters in the NSMB franchise.

The one character that I know wont get in, and people don't shut up about is Geno. He is owned by Squre-Enix and I do believe we know the history between Nintendo and them right now...

They just chose toads because there weren't any other character's that would make sense for the game. For example, they didn't choose the Wario bros. because they've never been interested in giving Waluigi an adventurous role.

What are you talking about Nintendo and Square Enix have a great relationship. They have done a ton of collaborations, including Super Mario RPG itself, Mario Hoops 3-on-3. Plus, Fortune Street, a Monopoly like crossover between Mario and Dragon Quest, is part of a hole franchise in Japan.

Also the Forest Maze song, with is practically Geno's theme song, was found in Brawl's data. Additionally he was the most requested character that didn't make it in the game.

The fact remains that they have a place in the Mario Universe they they've never had before, plus it would give them a chance to use items from the NSMB franchise without messing with Mario himself. So the Toads could have access to the Propeller Cap, Ice Flower or the Squirrel Suit.

I don't necessarily think toad is unlikely, I just think other characters out prioritize him. Bowser Jr. has been having important villainous roles since Super Mario Sunshine. Paper Mario has his own side franchise that seems to be growing quickly.

Toad was the most wanted character back in the days of SSBM, with people desperately hunting through the game code for mere traces (Same with Sonic), there's nothing stopping them from having Bowser Jr and Paper Mario too, but I think they'll unveil Toad first to build hype among the veteran fans.

Yeah, like they'll add three Mario characters. We didn't even get one in Brawl, in fact, we lost one.

One that was intended to return.

I actually think we won't get many new characters to show up in our first trailer.
Here's what I'm thinking that we'll see.

1. The Staple Four (Mario, Link, Kirby, Pikachu)
2. Two / Three other Veterans (Donkey Kong / Fox / Samus / Luigi [Year of Luigi])
3. One / Two New Nintendo Characters (Little Mac and Shulk?)
4. Our Third-Party Character (NAMCO: Pac-Man / Lloyd KONAMI: Snake SEGA: Sonic)

The reason why I'm seeing this is because Sakurai has stated that the game is not focusing on adding a large amount of content, it's about the game's experience and balance. So considering that, showing off too many of the new characters could really spoil the rest of the ones they have in store for us. That's why it wouldn't be smart to throw many new ones at us right off the bat.

In terms of Third-Party characters, having the confirmation of Sonic or Snake returning should be setting off great hype for the game as well. So like with the other newcomers, it might not be the best time to show off new third-parties as well.
