Amazing work guys. Shantae definitely looks like a character that would be fun to play as and stands out from the roster. Kudos to the entire team. The spriters, coders, and whoever made the trailer (best one yet), etc.
I have a question I would like to add here. How does she transform into animals? Is it by for example pressing down B or something that automatically happens when a limit is reached? If so, is there a pattern to which one you become? Are they limited in attacks, mobility, etc. While some questions can be answered by watching the video, it would be helpful if we can know in details on how this all works if it isn't too much to ask.

Transform is her neutral special. She can select what form to use by pressing a direction after starting the special. Up for Harpy, Sideways for Monkey and Down for Elephant. You can shield or air dodge/dash out of it to cancel the transformation... Or press B again to change the dance animation! If that's your thing. None of the animal forms has special moves. Other than transforming back to normal. You can however transform directly into another form even when you are already transformed. So you don't have to go human form again to quickly change into what you want. Each form also has only a limited set of A moves. They can't use grabs either. You can exit the tranformation to perform a special attack the human form has right away by inputing a directional special move normally while transformed. Especially useful for emergencies when recovering.
Monkey form is the quickest out of the 3 forms. Other than the vertical movement (Which Harpy excels at). This form is limited only to jab, tilt attacks, dash attack and one air attack. The attacks are generally quick, but doesn't have that much KO power. This is also the only form that can wall jump, cling and climb. This form also has one of lowest weight in the entire cast. Comparable to Jigglypuff.
Harpy is as expected, the form that has the most air mobility. Thanks to the multiple jumps. In addition can use Z-air to glide for a set distance, you can adjust the direction mid-flight too and has a hitbox. Will be left helpless after using it. This form only has air attacks and a whopping one ground attack. A useless jab. Harpy is absolutely terrible on the ground as a result. But the air attacks more than makes up for it. Back Air being a lethal kill move and down air can spike. Rest of the air attacks doesn't have as much knockback but they can easily be comboed together. Harpy generally excels at edge guarding, attacking enemies that are high up in the air and aiding in recoveries. The weight for this form is almost as light as the Monkey form.
Elephant is the form that has the highest attack power. This form only has smashes, jab and one air attack on the moveset. Air attack being a fast falling stomp. The smash attacks has super armor and they KO most fighters at early % with relative ease. But the cons are huge. Despite the high weight, it's more of a detrimental than anything. Especially since this form's mobility is not only bad. It's the worst out of the entire cast. Double Jump height is a joke, doesn't have it's own up b so you have to transform back to recover and can't even hang on ledges. Thus you have to use this form sparingly.
Thank you Toast for the details about how this character works. I would also like to know if there is any differences between Shantae Santa and Nega Shantae other than the visual appearances? If these are too much questions that is better off answered in a future presentation, then please let me know. Lol

I'm pretty sure Nega Shantae transforms for the majority of her moves while regular Shantae only has the special. Could be wrong

From what I'm noticing, based off of my speculation from the trailer, both versions are the same in many ways. Excluding the following. Shantae launches a firebfireball (probably her side special since neutral special is transformation) while Nega Shantae turns into a spider and launches some sort of purple ball. I also noticed that Nega harpy turns into this demon-like creature when doing this horizontal floating. Not sure if I'm missing anything. Going off the top of my head. There are probably some statistical difference as well.
Huh, I always thought that normal shantae had transformations while nega shantae intergrated those transformations into her normal moveset while things like the spider and bat were apart of her specials. IDK though. :/

This is pretty much how Shantae and Nega Shantae are different from each other.

Though, the Bat is actually a glide.
Oh, good to see it work like that. They might be similar in appearance but its good to see that even though they use the same assets they are different.
Yes! super duper hyped for this (so much that I literally just made an account to say this lol). So glad that I kept playing the game cuz stuff like this happens.
