Here's a thread to discuss everything about Super Mario Maker. I just got the game today and so far I'm loving it.

If you have a course please post it here and I will add it to the course list up top, I have already added my first creation.

You Brits and your early acquisitions

We both have the same national release date, but I got lucky with my supplier. I ordered Mortal Kombat from the same place and I got it even earlier.

Iunno when I'm picking this up but I will at some point.

Just added the code for my second course.

I'll have the game as soon as Christmas comes, or as soon as it goes on sale. It's $70 CDN soo yeah. Expensive game but I want it a lot.

My copy is coming tomorrow in the mail. If I make anything I'll share here.

Canadian dollar is pretty messed up, isn't it?

It's the same over here, and it's honestly cheap for a game. It's not unusual for games over here on PS4 to run up to £55 ($85 American, $113 Canadian).

Here's my first course:
Koopa Troopa Point

I'm not sure if I'm 100% happy with it, but overall I feel like it's a decent course.

I just tried it, it was pretty fun and I liked the little dogfight at the end. I gave it a star

I've added your course along with my third course, "Squid v Squid".

Donut Lift Peril

I tried to take one idea and make it progressively get more difficult throughout the level. It's tough but it's doable without taking a hit.

just an FYI I took down Koopa Troopa Point because I wasn't satisfied with it. I'm working on another one atm that should be more interesting

Okay, I've removed SP's course and added Roy's.

EDIT: Here's a fun trick that I found by accident. If you put wings on Buzzy Beetles then they fly straight, until you stand on them when they start flying diagonally up. It's quite handy for adding secrets to your course.

EDIT: I removed a dumb thing at the end to make it feel more like a Mario level.

Ghostly Jaunt: B1C4-0000-0026-C406

This one was me trying to make a sense of urgency with timed jumps by making it an auto-scroller. I think it worked well.


EDIT 3: Another new level!

Flight of Fancy: A2E0-0000-0028-4CF0

While it's technically my shortest level, this level is another fair-yet-difficult one. I designed it around one idea - riding a parabeetle to the finish.


EDIT 4: Yet another!

Conveyor Castle: BB94-0000-002A-D558

This is my easiest level yet. Completely fair, it's just skillful platforming on conveyor belts. Feels just like a normal Mario level.

The whole purpose of that level was to make you die once at the end. Easily done the second time though.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting it to be hard, just funny. The win/lose ratio is startlingly low however.

I've also learned some info about when level upload limits increase, and it's not very pleasant. Your second Medal comes at 50 Stars, which increases your count to 20 levels.

Was playing around with the idea of an airship with an underwater sub-level. Very easy compared to my previous levels, but still has some neat ideas and is pretty enjoyable.

I've completely updated the OP now.

I've also added three new courses from me, including my favourite one of mine so far, "The Last Stand". It's a real classic Castle stage and I hope you guys enjoy it. Also on there is "Just Run" which I posted a couple posts up, and Greedy Wario Bros, which is a quickjumping level that I know SP has already played

EDIT: I've also made an Amiibo showcase stage, honestly it's mainly to whore myself out for Stars, hoping to bring the level cap up.

Wall-to-Wall Grotto: 62E5-0000-0032-AD52

The basic concept is 2 walls on tracks, forcing you to keep wall jumping between them. It's pretty damn tough, but still doable.

New level:

Battleship Assault: 3CD7-0000-0034-86C8

Started off with a concept of boarding an airship from under it and going through the inside. Kind of just took it from there... the hardest parts of this level are the inside of the airship (bullet hell) and the boss. I feel like this is a unique 'boss' encounter that actually requires some careful platforming.

Digger Depths: D5A3-0000-0034-EFA9

This is by far my easiest level. I was toying around with the moles and realized how neat it was that they could be put under things like piranha plants, carrying them around. It eases the player into this and slowly expands the concept until the end. I could have done more and made it more difficult, but I felt like this was more like a typical SMB3 level.

Chomp Fortress: 2F68-0000-0038-5FA2

Probably as easy as my last one. This is my attempt at creating a believable SMB3 fortress, while also taking my tried-and-true concept of taking one idea and expanding it, while also increasing the difficulty.

Phantom Manor: 07BE-0000-003B-1DB4

My attempt at a SMW ghost house. It's not that difficult, but has some interesting puzzles.



EDIT 2 more levels!

Cheep Cheep Overpass: CBF6-0000-003D-7512
- A long bridge with a lot of Cheep Cheep. It starts getting pretty chaotic near the mid point due to a forced slowdown with a track.

Bone Patrol: 4281-0000-003F-3D5B
- A standard SMB3 style airship. Not too difficult and features a boss 'fight' at the end.

Fort Mallet: 5CC7-0000-0040-8EE6

Fairly standard SMW castle. This is the first time I've included a shortcut, and the boss itself has a pretty unique way of killing it.

1000 Wigglers Under the Sea: 13FD-0000-0043-CC6A

Very easy and basic underwater level. Nothing special other than 'underwater wigglers'.

Where is everyone? I've made 4 levels since all of my edits above:

Endless Chateau: 5D3B-0000-0049-46F8
- A real SMW-style ghost house. My last one was more puzzle-based, while this one will make you feel lost if you don't pay attention to your surroundings.

Demolition Derby: FA85-0000-004B-EDD3
- A short minigame where the goal is to break through the blocks above you.

Beetle Blaster Den: 6CEC-0000-0052-8188
- A level I made on stream, featuring beetles carrying blasters. Also some blasters shoot beetles.

Frostblaze Cavern: C989-0000-0053-969C
- A simple ice level with fire-based hazards.

Sorry Roy, I've updated everything, and I'll add my new courses when I get a chance, I have a few.

BTW guys I'm at 48 stars which means in 2 star's time I'll be able to upload 10 more levels. If anybody could help me out with those stars I'd be very grateful

Haven't made too much lately, but here's an update:

Swingin' in the Breeze: B9FB-0000-005A-BDFD
- I wanted to hit 20 courses so I didn't try very hard on this. The gimmick is platforms on tracks that go back and forth, though it never expands this very much.

Hang Ten: 777A-0000-006C-6FF2
- A gimmicky level where you have to ride a vine to the end of the course.

Snake Block Bastion: 08A1-0000-007A-5C79
- A homage to the snake block castle levels from Super Mario World, it borrows ideas from those and adds a bit more.

The Grate Castle: 6A3C-0000-007A-FE51
- My course that was featured in the Mario Maker Mondays race! A homage to the grate castle levels from Super Mario World, the whole first section can be run through without grabbing on to a grate.

Cloudtop Ruins: 2408-0000-007D-8EFD
- An attempt at a sort of themed level, a cloudy walkway leads into some abandoned ruins, complete with an escape sequence.

Pastry Plains: 7CF2-0000-0088-6A08
- An extremely basic SMW plains level, it feels right at home. It feels a bit too easy, however...

B200-0000-015A-D6B8 Boats
When Mario finds some Boats in the sky he travels among them and have fun

1C2B-0000-0167-2DF9 The Full Experience
This is my newest course using elements that I now have and now I have all the items in the game. Enjoy.
