TrinitroMan is back again with a new character suggestion.
We already have Snake and Bomberman, but we still got one Konami face left.
And that is nobody else than Simon Belmont, the legendary vampire killer from Castlevania!
Gimmick: Hearts & Weapons & Power-Ups
In most Castlevania games, hearts are used as ammunition for a variety of attacks, be it knifes, daggers, holy water or even the famous Cross Boomerang.
That's also true in this game. Simon starts with knifes, but he can get different weapons as well. Also, everytime he uses a weapon that is not his whip, he uses up hearts, which you can still replenish. The II-item from the old Castlevania games is the rarest drop, but it also upgrade your weapon usage while still retaining the old ammunition draining.
Intro: A small tornado appears, and then Simon swings the dust away with his whip (references Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest).
Taunt: Simon grabs with one hand one end of the whip and wraps up with the other and of the whip his other hand, then he stretches the whip tight. While doing this, he will say "Face the power of the Belmont clan!" (based on one of his lines from Castlevania Judgment). Then, Simon goes back to his idle pose.
Win: Simon does his whip-using winpose from Castlevania Judgment, saying "He who wields this whip cannot be defeated" (one of his lines in Castlevania Judgment).
Lose: A simple clap (like the majority of characters playable in Smash).
Colors:
1st: Default, he will be based on his Super Castlevania 4 appearance
2nd: Castlevania 2 Simon color scheme
3rd: Castlevania Judgment Simon color scheme
4th: Castlevania Judgment Trevor color scheme
5th: Rondo of Blood Richter color scheme
6th: Symphony of the Night Alucard color scheme
7th: Castlevania Bloodlines John Morris color scheme
8th: Order of Ecclesia Shanoa color scheme
Basic movement animations: same like in the Castlevania games
AAA Combo: Left Punch-Right Punch-Knee Hit
Side Tilt: Simon swings his whip in front of him.
Up Tilt: Simon swing his whip above him (like in Super Castlevania 4).
Down Tilt: Simon swings his whip while crouching.
Forward Smash: Simon swings a big candle like a baseball bat. When it hits, it breaks, dropping hearts or weapons or the II-item.
Up Smash: Simon swings a big candle above his head. When it hits, it breaks, dropping hearts or the II-item.
Down Smash: Spins with his whip on the ground (a bit like Shulk's Down Smash in terms of animation). When opponents get hit, there is a chance that the opponent drops a weapon or hearts or the II-item.
Dash Attack: A quick forward lunge with his whip (akin to Link's dash attack in SM4SH).
Grab: Simon swings his whip to grab his opponents (tether grab like Link and Samus).
Pummel: A punch to the gut.
Forward Throw: Simon throws his opponent away by swinging his whip at the ground.
Back Throw: Simon turns the opponent around and kicks him away. If he has ammunition, then he will also throw a knife (or two when wielding the II-item) at the opponent afterwards.
Up Throw: Simon throws the opponent upwards with his whip. If he has ammunition, then he will also throw a knife (or two when wielding the II-item) at the opponent afterwards.
Down Throw: Simon throws the opponent on the ground with his whip. Good for follow-ups.
Neutral Air: Simon swings his whip in front of him.
Forward Air: Simon slams his opponent down with a big candle. A spike with a big start-up, and when the candle hits, it breaks, dropping hearts or weapons or the II-item.
Back Air: Simon turns a bit and then swings his whip, hitting opponents from behind.
Up Air: Simon swings his whip above him (like in Super Castlevania 4).
Down Air: Simon swings his whip downwards (like in Super Castlevania 4), but this one doesn't have a spike.
Get-Up-Attack: Simon's Down Smash with less damage and faster start-up.
Ledge Attack: As Simon climbs up the ledge, he swings his whip in front of him.
Neutral Special:
Flame WhipSimon Belmont charges up his whip, and then does a forward charge with his whip. When fully charged, the whip catches flames, refering the old Castlevania games again, and the forward charge is even longer and leaves a burning trail behind that hurts the opponents without making them stagger (like Fox' lasers). The whip attack itself does damage depending on the charge level, and a fully charged whip also has the benefit of giving fire-based damage to the opponent.
Side Special:
Use WeaponSimon Belmont uses the secondary weapon he is currently equipped with.
Knife/Dagger: A simple projectile that travels a distance fast. When wielding the II-item, he throws two knifes at the price of one knife.
Axe: A projectile that travels a downwards arc, but is slightly more powerful than the knife. When wielding the II-item, he throws two axes at once at the price of one, with one axe traveling a different arc than the other for more coverage.
Holy Water: A projectile that travels a short distance before hitting the ground, but if it hits anything, then it burst into flames (essentially a better Ness PK Fire). When wielding the II-item, the Holy Water gets the same type of upgrade like the dagger.
Cross Boomerang: A projectile that travels a distance very slowly, but it hits very often and also comes back like a boomerang after a certain distance. When wielding the II-item, the Cross Boomerang is mush faster.
Up Special:
Tornado WhipOn ground, it works exactly like his Tornado Whip attack from Castlevania Judgment.
In mid-air, it works like a recovery attack like Link's Sword Spin.
Down Special:
Belmont CounterSimon goes into a blocking pose. If he gets hit during the pose, he does a lunge-like attack at the now helpless opponent (based on one of his system mechanics from Castlevania Judgment).
Final Smash:
Vampire KillerSimon swings his whip in an uppercut-like motion (think Ike's Great Aether start-up attack). If he hits his opponents, he proceeds with his super art of the same name from Castlevania Judgment.
