I will have to say no as well, what's the point of making a fan game based off of an Nintendo created series if there are characters that have NEVER even made an appearance on an Nintendo console!

My vote is to keep the restrictions. So, no.
Some exceptions are good to keep the variety, but add too many and the game won't really look like a Smash Bros game. At least that's what I think...

I'll say yes, I'm pretty sure most people here have enough common sense to not allow the crap to get through.

But the thing is they don't have enough common sense. Nobody has considered the possibility of "OH HEY THIS ANIME CHARACTER IS COOL AND WAS IN A GAME SO LETS MAKE THE DLC FULL OF ANIME" and then dumb choices like Naruto, Ichigo, Vegeta, and other anime characters will start to detract from the potential of actual game characters. Troll suggestions will become extremely frequent once again, and that's just a waste of everyone's time since they get locked anyway. Abolishing this rule will only lead to many terrible suggestions that will take votes away from other candidates, and only a few would be quality character suggestions (like Dante, Master Chief, The Heavy... oh, that's a coincidence, they're on the poll already!)

My vote is no.

It's been stated the rule would only spread out to characters that are only video game characters. No Spongebob, no Naruto, no anime or cartoons.

Troll suggestions have always been possible, people just don't waste their time with them cause they've run their course and aren't funny. I doubt this'll change.

And you can't say that those aren't among the best characters to represent their respective gaming platforms with, other than maybe Dante since Play Station has plenty of other good characters whereas Master Chief and The Heavy are the best candidates for their platforms undoubtedly.
