Microsoft finally just revealed its newest console, the XBOX ONE. The name is derived from the console's new slogan, "The all-in-one system". It is slated to come out later this year, likely around the holidays. Here are some of the things that were discussed and revealed at the conference just now:
Hardware/Features: -3 OS's that will allow easy access and integration between games, TV, Skype, etc. -Voice and gesture controlled interface that further enhances ease of access between every form of entertainment. -Kinect now has a 1080p camera, USB 3.0, wider detection range and recognises more joints in your body -Xbox controller has new battery pack and is motion sensitive -8GB RAM, 8-core CPU, 500GB hard drive, -An estimated 300,000 servers to run xbox live compared to the current 15,000 -Screen and video capture features to record your gameplay -"Trending", a new feature that allows you to see what shows, movies, games, etc. are popular among your friends -Multitasking: being able to play a game, browse the internet, watch a show or movie, etc. at the same time.
Games: -15 exclusive titles in the first year, 8 of which are new franchises -Forza Motorsport 5 -New EA Sports games, including an "ultimate team mode" in FIFA 14 -Quantum Break, which mixes live entertainment into the gaming experience -CoD: Ghosts, written by the writer of "Traffic"
Partnerships: -EA Sports unveiled a new engine exclusively for Xbox One, meant to redefine how sports games are played. -NFL partnership will allow players to automatically track the career stats of their fantasy players live as they watch TV, among other things.
Other things: -ESPN fans can track stats live as they watch TV as well -Halo live action TV show directed by Steven Spielberg -Skype -Voice controlled TV guide
We should expect to see more at E3, thoughts?

| After watching the unveiling, they seemed to hide the gaming aspect of this new console (which is the only thing I care about, though the Xbox is slowly transforming from a gaming console to an entertainment-system; it's a good thing I got my PC built for PC gaming).
I am wondering if they hid it for a good reason, or a bad reason. I guess we'll have to wait ti'll E3 to decide that. |

| A whole lot of sports stuff going on here, so none of that peaks my interest even a little.
Games i dont think will be a major thing in any consoles favor anymore thanks to the movement towards PC style hardware, making cross-platform development simpler. Developers will tend to make their games for all 3 consoles in the interest of profit.
The rest of the stuff is extremely similar to what PS4 and Wii U have done, it's all about interfacing now. Not to say there aren't cool things on the list, they just aren't points over the other two systems. So pretty much the only thing that interests me at all on this list is the massive increase in servers, but guess what? That means the return of subscription online play, and it will be more expensive. Yay.
And lol at the controller still having a clunky battery pack. >.< |

| Not impressed. Maybe if I was a sports, Halo, or all-in-one guy I'd dig this. I'll wait until the games at E3 are shown. |

http://www.gamespot.com/news/xbox-one-has-preowned-fee-6408671 Microsoft has become such a joke :/ It really sucks that some good Xbox titles won't be able to reach their max potential because of being on the Xbox platform. Like.. if Halo and the GTA games either transferred over to PC or had both an Xbox version and PC version, I feel like they could be a lot better. Personally, those two series are like the only thing that convinces me to buy more Xbox live. |

| Microsoft is a joke. The only reason really that the Xbox was successful was exceptional marketing strategy. |

| This generation will come down to two simple things.
The release date and the price. If XOne is released first then all the sheep will flock to it, because of their old alliegence with the the X360, however if the PS4 is released first or even near the XOne and at a similar price people will start to realise about the preowned fee and the Xbox Live fee, and flock to that.
I'm fine with it either way, if the PS4 wins then as a PS fan I'll get to see a lot more AAA titles on the system, yet if the XOne wins then the PS4 will remain a haven for the more refined gamer, without all the riff-raff screaming down their mics. |

| I still support the Wii U all the way, I'm a fanatic for retro games and nostalgia, plus I tend to enjoy Nintendo games more.
But the Halo TV show is going to be so epic, I can't wait for that. |

I support Nintendo all the way, even though they appear to be going downhill. |

I support Nintendo all the way, even though they appear to be going downhill. Except that they aren't going downhill. The Wii U isn't going to be as successful as the Wii was, and it has an uphill battle ahead thanks to PS4 and Xbox One, but Nintendo is in no danger of no longer producing hardware. I think that if they can lower the price of the Wii U and put on a more aggressive marketing campaign in time for the 2nd half of the year, then Nintendo can ride through this next generation at least mostly unscathed. |

So this "preowned fee", it's actually retail price. So yeah, I think the XOne is dead out of the gates, assuming the media can warn the mass market about this before release. |

| Harrison also confirmed the always online bit. When you get a game, you get a unique code with it, and you need to be online to use said code.
Never thought I'd see the day where a company would actually commit console suicide, but Microsoft did it. |

Might we see Banjo-Threeie finally? Or perhaps a new Conker? If they do show one of these then it's the smartest possible move they could make. |

| 'Discussing the making of the Xbox One during a video feature for Engadget , Williams said: "We purposefully did not target the highest-end graphics. We targeted more as a broad entertainment play and did it in an intelligent way."'
In an intelligent way? I don't sense any form of intelligence in that decision, seeing as it's not what any Xbox fans want. |
