One of my favorite stages from Donkey Kong Country is Coral Capers:
It looks beautiful, it sounds beautiful, and it's just fun to play. I think this would lend itself to a really cool stage in Crusade. I've gone through the trouble of designing a rough picture of how it would look (excuse the terrible Photoshopping please):
Full-Size Image (1280x720):
The floating platform is a soft platform. It might be a neat idea to make it one of those coral blocks yet still make it a soft platform in reference to the hidden areas that are accessible by swimming through the fake barriers. It'd also be neat if the stage had the little bubbles as a visual effect.
What do y'all think?

What's the gimmick of that stage?

I think the gimmick is that it is underwater. Different gravity possibly

I think different gravity and maybe some of the enemies from the level could be stage hazards. However, the overall gimmick is that it's underwater. I've always wondered why there haven't been any Smash Bros. stages like that.

Because Sonic can't breathe underwater. It's that easy.

It works here, though, because in DKC, Donkey and Diddy Kong can swim through the level infinitely without needing air.

Yeah, but Sonic is not Donkey Kong.

Yeah, but Sonic can actually swim in Brawl and Smash 4.

Swimming on water is not the same thing like breathing underwater, though.

Why are you guys using Sonic as the reason for no underwater stages when Charizard exists? I assume the stage would use Mega Man water physics.
As far as supporting the stage... I've never played through the original DKC trilogy (I only finished 64, Returns, and Tropical Freeze), so I'm not really sure how much this represents DKC in general. Is an underwater stage like this a regular occurrence? I do know the song is popular, but that's just a song, not the level itself.
An underwater stage is probably a good idea to include in the game as a whole, but should it necessarily be a DK stage?

There are four underwater stages (or "Coral" stages) in DKC. Coral Capers is the first of these, and it's the one most DKC players have been to. Yes, it is mostly popular due to the song, but many people also comment on the beauty of the stage's textures, effects, and design. As for how it represents DK as a whole, we do have a stage for that (Kongo Jungle 64), so this will be an additional representation of the series. It's similar to how Brawl has a Norfair stage as a general representation of Metroid, but it also has Frigate Orpheon (based on the first boss fight from Metroid Prime) to serve as an extension of that universe.
You're right, an underwater stage doesn't necessarily have to be from Donkey Kong, but I support this one due to the level's popularity and unique aesthetic.
An underwater stage is definitely kinda out-there as far as Smash Bros. stages go, but that doesn't mean that it couldn't work in Crusade. It would definitely need some sort of different gravity to give that "underwater" feeling. I'd say that this stage would be pretty cool to have in-game, though I'm not 100% sold on that layout in the OP as of right now.

Then it's settled
Coral Capers is going to flip upside down every minute or so
While there is no doubt that an underwater stage would be something unique. However, where is the long-term fun in it? Sure, maybe people will have fun playing underwater the first one or two times. But, when you are use to the fast-paced action of Smash after soo long and then to play what I would refer to as "Slow-Motion" gameplay, it loses its fun. Thats all this stage really is to me. Just slow-motion game play exclusive to a stage.
Sounds like a waste of a Donkey Kong stage if you ask me. If we had a character like Starfy on the roster in need of stage, then yea I can see that. But even then, I kinda feel an underwater stage just wouldn't be fun anymore after a few plays.
