Should we reaplace Mirage Tower?

I know a lot of people are crazy about the stage roster "being set in stone", but I'd like to bring the Mirage Tower up for a second. I don't see what exactly we could do with this or why it was chosen over everything else in the Hoenn region. The Mirage Tower only appeared in Pokemon Emerald anyways and there isn't much potential for a good stage inside of it- nor is there for the route it appears at (Route 111). This is why I'm purposing that we change the Mirage Tower to something from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald that would be a memorable and unique stage. Here are some of my suggestions:

-Route 119: You would battle on the bridge beside the Weather Institute with a roaring waterfall in the background, including the rest of the route which is known for fishing for Feebas and battling the Mimic Cirlce.
-Pacifidlog Town: The water based city built on logs and rafts, said to be over a large population of Corsola. It's most well known for the old man that says whether the Mirage Island can be visited or not.
-Fortree City: An area where people live in tree houses with bridges made from ropes and wood, making for a unique layout. It's mostly known for wild Keckleon that would randomly block ground paths.

This is the stage I think would work best over Mirage Tower:

-Slateport City: A staple Pokemon City in R/S/E. Being one of the busiest and largest city's in the Hoenn region, the best place for battle would be the Slateport Market, which would provide a unique battle area, but a full view of the city in the background. Some possible stage gimmicks include:

-Wailmer (1 or 2 at a time) may pop out of the water at random, serving as platforms. If someone stands on them for too long, the Wailer will sink down into the water.
-Pelipers can slowly fly across the stage where their large beaks would serve as platforms. Like parabeetles in Super Mario Bros. 3, they would drop a little bit when landed on.
-The Slateport Market also sells large colored bricks for Hidden Bases in R/S/E. The one selling these in the market could randomly place Red, Yellow, or Blue Bricks on the ground as platforms/obstacles (this wouldn't bee too likely though).

This mock-up shows how the stage layout would be like. THIS DOES NOT REPRESENT THE GRAPHICS WE WILL BE USING.

In short, I know there are lots of people who probably don't want to replace this stage, but I feel like we're missing opportunity with Mirage Tower.

We already had a stage removal poll, mirage tower wasn't even close to being removed.

The only stage that was possibly going to be removed was Forest Maze, but the coding for the stage was found, so it was kept.

I'm interested in what ideas people have for the stage- what's the layout going to be like? What would make the stage unique?

Slateport City isn't a generic town at all- it's a harbor with more things to do than pretty much any other area in R/S/E. Oldale Town is generic. The Mirage Tower has nothing going for it stage-wise.

EDIT: We could also base Slateport off of this awesome picture this guy made.

That's not that great of a gimmick. It's a giant rock tower- all it could really do is split a flat run-off stage in half, inconveniencing anyone in the match.

It would be much more fun to fight at Slateport, frightening busy citizens in the market while jumping around Pelipers and Walilmers, trying to knock your opponent(s) into the water. It's like putting together Onett and Great Bay.

It was chosen because we planned on it having the gimmick of it slowly crumbling throughout the match, thus it changing fairly rapidly.

Personally I didn't want Mirage Tower; I'd rather have something like The Abandoned Ship or Sootopolis City (ironically I was the one who suggested Mirage Tower as an option when someone said 3rd gen had no decent stage ideas).

If my memory is correct, other than the gimmick of slowly crumbling, it got support cause of a need for a dessert stage (at the time people didnt think a Mach Rider stage was going to get support).

Mirage Tower seems like such a totally random area to put in the game when there's so many more possible locales that are much more important and could possibly be interesting in Hoenn.

This. Especially since it only appeared in Emerald, meaning that it doesn't even represent Ruby or Sapphire.

If Mirage Tower were to be replaced, two locations that come to mind that would be suitable replacements are Mt. Pyre or Sootopolis City (with the legends battling in the city).

Sootopolis City could work too. It's 20x more important than Mirage Tower, if anything. If you fought right in front of the Gym, that would make a really cool layout (being a run-off stage while still being able to knock down opponents into the water). The most fun thing would be is the entrance to the Cave of Origin. Because of the Gym being in front of it from that point of view, you wouldn't be able to see the entrance all of the time. Sootopolis would also have an expansive background, which is always nice.

For me, I'd replace Mirage Tower with Slateport or Sootopolis.

If it wasn't removed in the stage removal poll we had last time, then we don't want it removed. If it wasn't actually covered in that stage removal poll, then we'll cover it in the next one. Either way, I don't see the point of this thread.

Run-off stages are not bad when executed correctly. I could see this being more like Mushroom Kingdom II from Melee with the water at Sootopolis.

Mirage Tower was picked more based on layout potential than stage setting, as the crumbling stage could give a different layout than how it started. The layout change could be permanent, too. Also covers the necessary desert stage.

Then again, this could also work with Sky Pillar....

We've already passed this and had the replacement poll, no point in keeping this going..

I'm pretty sure there's only one necessary desert stage and that's Mach Rider.
What we don't have yet is a necessary Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald stage.

Yes, while this is true, we have too many walk of stages that are planned, or are currently in game that aren't "executed correctly." And I just don't like walk off stages.
Also, last time I checked, it was a third gen stage we wanted, not a Ruby, Saphire or Emerald stage. As a result, we could very well take a stage from Fire Red/Leaf Green, and it would rep gen three. Troll

Edit: Mach Rider bias is clearly showing; there are many other series that could have a desert stage.

I guess it is a little bias- let's have Gerudo Valley and Dry Dry Desert then.

If we're going to have one Generation III stage, it's very important to make sure that stage correctly represents the most important part of that generation, which was Ruby and Sapphire, for being more popular and better received than FireRed/LeafGreen, Emerald, or Colosseum/Gale of Darkness. Mirage Tower, being from Emerald only, just so slightly misses Ruby and Sapphire.

Also, how would the Mirage Tower not be run-off? You intend to make the battle play in Route 111, right?
