"Failed to use 3D mode."

Heyo,

I experience an error message stating "Failed to use 3D mode." after I enter the game to go to the main menu. The game loads fine; I see the resolution setup screen and the title screen as if normal. But after I press enter the game gives me that message and freezes (though the menu music still plays in the background).

Does anyone know what this error message means and how I can fix it?
