KIRBY'S COPY ABILITIES!

As many of you may know, SSBC Kirby has abilities based loosely around the absorbed character's moves. I made a quick guide to which characters will give you which move. Hope this helps any confused players.

List of Characters (Alphabetical):

Happy Smashing! Yay

Rising Uppercut is from Kirby's Fighter ability, similar to Knuckle Joe.

Wow, Kirby doesn't even get ice breath from eating the Ice Climbers. I know his Ice copy ability was never coded and likely won't be for the sake of just one character, but that still comes off as odd.

I think we will get Freeze eventually, actually. We'll also want other obvious things like Yo-Yo for Ness.

Can you guys reconsider giving kirby actual copies of specials and not abilities from his games? It may be one move but I think it's worth it.

It would also help to put your answer/stance on this in the FAQ so that people won't ask perpetually (like I do).

When the game "reads" from each character file, it can only look into that particular file. So while loading Kirby, it can't look at other character files.

This means that any resources needed for Kirby must be in the Kirby file. With actual specials for copy abilities, we'd need copies of each special specifically for Kirby, which would quickly overwhelm the file.

Also, copy abilities are canon. Are actual specials really that exciting?

Or have the ability reside in the specific character file which would load regardless of whether Kirby is being played or not.

Very Happy Very nice.

I'm kind of with Dry because it makes things a lot simpler and is more canon to Kirby, but it could also be possible that each other character in the game simply stores Kirby assets in their own file. Kirby should be aware of which fighter's ability he copied and could reference their assets when he uses the ability.

I suppose you mean that Kirby's neutral special script can call the resources from any opponents onstage.

I think that might be possible, but I'm not sure. Crusade uses a keepmain variable to store resources, which is separate from the actual player object. I can't think of any issues right off the bat, although I'm not sure what would happen with, say Samus switching forms.

We should see what people's opinions are, though. Right now Sliss and I think Kirby want individual special moves, Falcon and I want copy abilities.

Wait, is Samus supposed to transform in v0.9? Because I played as both forms and neither transforms into the other when using their final smashes.
