| Some possible item ideas from the FF universe:
Recovery:
- Potion: A simple healing item - Remedy: Removes status effects such as poison - Pheonix Down: Restores one stock
Support:
- Light Curtain: Grants the Protect status, buffing resistance to damage and/or knockback - Star Curtain: Grants the Reflect status, reflecting damage received onto the attacker and reflecting projectiles - Hermes Sandals OR Chocobo Feather: Increases movement speed - Bacchus's Wine: Grants the berserk status, increasing offensive power and optionally reducing control of the character's attacks (AI decides attacks instead) - Smoke Bomb: When thrown, unleashes a brief smoke screen. Opponents caught in the initial release get the status effect Blind, which causes their attacks to consistently miss for a set time - Hero Drink: Boosts the players stats (movement, attack, defense). May also grant invincibility - Holy War: Like the Hero Drink, but affects all players
Offense:
- Red Fang, Blue Fang, White Fang: Casts Fire, Blizzard and Thunder respectively - Vampire Fang: Life steal effect on hit - Cokatrice Claw/Pinion: Inflicts Petrify, turning an opponent to stone for a set duration - Spider's Silk: Reduces target's movement speed temporarily - Gold Hourglass: Freezes time for everyone but the user - Gaia Drum: Can be used to cause earthquake tremors - Stardust: Casts "Comet" http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Comet_%28Ability%29 - Dragon Scale: Used to deal water damage in some form - Malboro Vine: Inflicts poison - Loco Weed: Inflicts Confuse on all enemies (in-game effect can be discussed, probably reverses inputs or causes certain attacks to hit yourself) - Rising Sun: Thrown like a boomerang (can be discussed whether or not it returns to the user). http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Rising_Sun
That about covers every important FF item that could work in a smash setting. Just some ideas to draw from if anyone wants to start spriting unique new items. |

I mean, you could just give yourself a stock, and then your team member just takes it like in normal gameplay. |

| Uh... I don't think an item that restores stock is a good idea at all. Recovery items are bad enough imo. |

| 1-Up Mushroom.
Your point is invalid. |

| I'm pretty sure the 1-Up Mushroom is not in Crusade, and in that case the same idea applies. Your point is invalid, unless I'm proven wrong. In that case I am still entitled to my opinion, making your point invalid to begin with. |

| Items do not need to be balanced. Case in point: Smash balls or invincibility stars. Restoring a stock is broken, but then so are items as a whole so who cares? |

Imagine how irritating a match would be with that item on high. Stock Balls were in Brawl and they restored a stock, but they were exclusive to some mode (dont remember which, probably Adventure). |

| If the item would annoy you, turn it off. However, you have to consider that some players would want it. Maybe even on high frequency. Everyone has their preferences.
I dont actually want that item myself. It's only on the list for completeness. |

| Ok, then lets add an item that instakills everyone besides the user that is unblockable/undodgeable. I can think of a few video game items that could potentially do that, and I'm sure someone would also want to use it.

| Now for something actually relevant, since i think we all knew Pheonix Down was never going to get in. I think the best item choices are as follows: - Light Curtain: Grants the Protect status, buffing resistance to damage and/or knockback - Star Curtain: Grants the Reflect status, reflecting damage received onto the attacker and reflecting projectiles - Chocobo Feather: Increases movement speed - Red Fang, Blue Fang, White Fang: Casts Fire, Blizzard and Thunder respectively - Gold Hourglass: Freezes time for everyone but the user - Malboro Vine: Inflicts poison - Loco Weed: Inflicts Confuse on all enemies (in-game effect can be discussed, probably reverses inputs or causes certain attacks to hit yourself) - Rising Sun: Thrown like a boomerang (can be discussed whether or not it returns to the user) |

It also can't backfire. |

| weren't most dramatic items intended to have potential repercussions, though i.e. while bunny hood increases your speed and jump height it's also easier to be more sloppy and sd while mini mushrooms decreased your size it also made it harder to be hit while the home-run bat could ko easily it had a lengthy charging time |

| What if Phoenix Down added a stock, however using it forces a taunt, and any interruption during the taunt wastes the item? |

| Magicite could work as an item. Very much like Assist Trophies, but with a FF summon following the "summoner" for a while, helping when attacking, and finishing its appearance with its signature attack. I'm actually surprised that nobody thought about this.
About the Reflect thing, it could work similar to its Kingdom Hearts incarnation, except it stays for some time instead of just when you use it. Explaining: the shield appears protecting the user for a while, then if someone hits the user, the shield explodes as a counter-attack. |

JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKLUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUB! WE NEED YOU IN THIS THREAD NOW we need to post an announcement that deconfirms assist trophies, pokeballs, and other summoning items until further notice. SERIOUSLYAlso, stock restoring should be a no-no. -set Phoenix Down as the only item -set frequency to very high -pick Hyrule Temple -NEVER ENDING CRUSADE! |

You clearly did not consider that maybe this is exactly what many users would want. It's not uncommon for players to set lives to 99 in friendlies just so they can keep going uninterrupted. This is also a specific situation that you would have to purposely set up through your match settings prior to a match. I like the KH reflect idea. |
