| This post is outdated as of version 0.9.1. Follow these directions only for versions 0.9.0 and older. The game now supports controllers natively. Wouldn't it be great if everyone knew how to play Crusade with their favorite controller? Well now they can! This game is different than others because there is no controller config. options built into it like an emulator for example. What you need is a program called JoytoKey, and it's found here: http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyToKey%20English%20Version.htm You also need a controller and an adapter. So plug in your controller and then open JoytoKey. Create a new controller config. and name it SSCB or something like that. Then select "Auto Setting Wizard". Now this is improtant, DO NOT TOUCH YOUR CONTROLLER. Instead, press the KEY that corresponds with the button/action from your controller. For example, first it will ask for imputs for the movement (left) joystick. Now if you use wasd controls ordinarily then you press w when it asks for up, a for left, etc. Same principle applies for the other buttons. This is the only way I know of so far that lets you use a joypad on Crusade. Things you should note: -C-stick attacks will not work. -Jump and Up must be seperate buttons. -In game, A-smashing should be OFF, and the smash button should be a different button than your standard A attacks. -Multiple buttons on the joypad can have the same key assigned to them (like having shield on both triggers) I don't know how that would all translate to anything other than GCN controllers, but I have my GCN mapped out like this (notice there is no C-stick functionallity): Joystick left/right - Move left/right Joystick down - Crouch/Fast-Fall, etc. Joystick up - Buffer Utilt, Usmash, Uspecial, Uair A - Jabs and tilts B - Special attacks X - Smash attacks Y - Jump L/R - Shield Z - Grab (hold to shield) Start - Pause D-pad - Taunt Any questions or suggestions for mapping controls can go here.

| Good guide, added a link to the EYNTK thread.
I bet you all thought I forgot about that thread, huh? |

| mercury, use Xpadder, is really easy to use, and you can map macros (that means, you can map your cstick) |

| If you're using a PS3 controller (which I use) via USB or Bluetooth dongle, you will need to install the MotionInJoy driver and set up your controller there.
If you want to use a 360 controller, I'm pretty sure you will need a wireless receiver. I don't use an Xbox controller so I can't really be of much help there. |

| Ok so I downloaded xpadder and configured my controls, but how do I make Crusade recognize the controler imputs? I don't see any way to do that, but I know my GCN controler is working perfectly fine. |

| We got xpadder working EXCEPT c-stick down crouches instead of a smash, i've checked over the configuration repeatedly and see nothing wrong with it. Any idea whats going on? It's currently set so c-stick down translates to my keyboards down key and smash button together, which works on every c-stick direction except down |

| I use Joy2Key and it works a treat, but my controller is seriously bad... http://www.thestrong.org/online-collections/images/Z006/Z00650/Z0065075.jpg It's the only one I have, it's got 2 shoulder buttons that you can't see but that's it. |

| Hi all I just downloaded the game like 3 days ago and started to play with this joystick (lol cheap joystick) and I configured my controls with joytokey and everything seems to be working fine. Just sharing something before I go to sleep. |

| Never seen that type of controller before, but glad to see that there are many options of controllers to use. |

| Literally any controller that can connect to your computer (Even a Wii Remote using bluetooth connection) is a viable option. |

| Should I add a tutorial to using xpadder as well? I already have JoytoKey in the OP, so I may as well, right? |

| How do you get the game to recognize inputs from the controller. Got Xpadder set up, can use it to type with so the keys are working but game does not recognize the inputs from the controller. Help would be nice. |

| The game has a slight bug right now that was overseen causing controllers not to work properly. You can use them in Online Mode by making all your inputs into another window like Notepad however. This bug will be fixed soon. |

| Actually that was happening for me too but it works fine if you run your program in a compatibility mode. I run JoytoKey in Windows 7 and setting Joytokey's compatibility mode to Windows 98 resolved the problem |

| So, I just got a gamepad today and I got JoytoKey. What exactly do I put for buttons 1-32? I am confused. I put in my controls I have for the game on the keyboard but how do I know which button # corresponds to what? O.o |

| Idk how it works for anything besides a gcn of ps2 controller, if you have something other than that I would suggest looking up the button mapping for your particular joypad. |

| I would love to help, but I'm not too knowledgeable with these things. I'm too use to the keyboard.
Anyone willing to help explain this better to him?
Perhaps you can stop by the chatbox and there might be someone there to help as well.

We can assign 2 keys to a button. So if we have 2 sticks we can assign to the right stick the directions + smash key to simulate the C-stick attacks. |
