Subject: Sky Battalion (Freedom Planet) Discussion Tue May 03, 2016 10:44 am
“Deploy our Sky Battalion!”
Sky Battalion is the 4th level from Freedom Planet, where Mayor Xao's Airship (being used by Lilac and company) gets attacked by 3 Shuigang Airships. Part of the reason why I chose Sky Battalion over any other level is due to the fact that Sky Battalion is both early enough in the game to be noticed, and is one of the only levels in Freedom Planet to take place in the air. It also has a set design, making it the easiest to introduce.
Spoiler:
As a stage, Sky Battalion would be about as large as Temple in terms of length. The large size would make it perfect for 6-player battles. The Main Platform is very flat, though is starts to curve upwards towards the right side. The left side has a drop-down platform that is slanted down somewhat, angled towards the center of the stage. As for other platforms, there would be up to 5 Rocket-powered "Lifeboats" which would move around the stage in a similar style to Project M's Delfino's Secret stage. The amount of platforms (not including the upper-left platform) could be anywhere between 1 and 6.
Its a large Stage (And Image):
Hazards would include the other airships shooting at the stage, with their shells coming in from the top of the stage. The shells would be indicated by the same “Warning” as in Freedom Planet. Unlike Freedom Planet, not every ship will necessarily fire at the same time; depending on which ship(s) fire, the third of the stage in front of them will have shells rain down on, and areas under the platforms will not be hit (though the shells can hit you on their way down).
That's not all. Prince Dail makes an appearance, reprising his role as the final boss on Sky Battalion. His attacks and other details are listed below
Prince Dail Info:
In Freedom Planet, Prince Dail is the final boss on Sky Battalion riding/piloting the Cyber-Peacock. In order to defeat him, you must destroy the 8 "feathers," each of which can take 8% of damage. This means that characters with large and/or powerful hitboxes can quickly take out Prince Dail. You must do this 4 times before he is defeated (which will be represented in the Peacock's feathers: Green, Blue, Orange, and Red). Defeating him will provide you with either a point (Time) or a life (Stock). Upon his defeat, he will start to explode (similar to Wily Castle's Yellow Devil), and will be marked with the tag of the person who defeated him. The explosion will damage opponents, allowing potential KOs.
Attacks:
Electric Orb: Prince Dail releases a large energy sphere that chases a random opponent. It doesn't have much knockback, though it can trap opponents. Charge: Prince Dail briefly leaves the stage before Charging in from one side to the other, sometimes curving up and down. He does this 3 or 4 times. Every time he takes damage (not including the "Feathers"), he will do this. Tornado: The Robo-Peacock rapidly flaps its wings, releasing strong gusts of wind to both sides of the stage. The attack does no damage, though the strong winds can knock you off stage Electric Blast: Prince Dail releases lasers that hit in sixteen different directions around himself. The Peacock's feathers are invincible and turn yellow for the duration of the attack. The lasers have high knockback, but also have high startup and are shown before they do damage. Prince Dail only performs this before he leaves on his own or if he has 2 "hits" left
If Hazards are turned off, the other Airships will still be present, but not fire, similar to when you cleared them in Freedom Planet. Prince Dail could also appear in the background, but he would not interfere with the match. There would be 3 platforms set up in a similar fashion to how they appear in Freedom Planet (look at the "Large" image to see what I meen).
Possible Addition (Not Yet Finalized):
Omega Mode: If Crusade gains this, the Omega mode will be made out of a few (2-4) of the Rocket Boats, with the Airship in the background. Crystal Clusters* and Health Flowers These could, at times, pop up on the stage. They could be picked up (they are heavy though) and attacked. After they break, you can pick up Crystal Shards/Health Pedals, which will increase your Final Smash meter/restore some health. Items would have to be turned ON for them to appear *Crystal Clusters and Crystal Shards could be a standard item
Images:
Crystal Cluster/Shard: Health Flower/Pedal:
Spawn Locations, Blast Lines, and others:
Light Blue: Revival Platform: Players will respawn slightly towards the front of the stage Orange (On Stage): King of the Ring: Even though the stage is large, it is also generally flat, as most of the platforms can move and leave. They are placed near the front, rear, and middle of the stage. Light Red (Around Stage): End of Camera (Safe): Not only is the Stage itself large, but the "Magnify Glass" area is also quite large, making certain attacks seem weaker. Dark Red: Blast Zone (KO): There is a large amount of distance between the stage and the blast zone, especially vertically. Some meteor smashes would require much higher percentages to hit the blastzone. This also allows characters with powerful air attacks and/or high air mobility have a very strong ability to keep opponents away from the stage.
Possible Song Choices:
Standard Choices
Spoiler:
1. Sky Battalion
The main level theme for Sky Battalion. It is the only level in Freedom Planet to not have different parts {ie. No "Sky Battalion (Part 2)} 2. Prince Dail Boss Battle
This song plays whenever you fight Prince Dail, who is the final boss of both Sky Battalion and Battle Glacier.
Other Choices
Spoiler:
Freedom Planet Theme
The main theme of the game. A small excerpt plays on the title screen, while the full song plays during the credits. A remixed version also plays if you grab an invincibility power-up, and a slower version plays on the "Game Over/Continue" screen Dragon Valley (Part 1)
The main song from the first level available at the beginning of the game, and the first level for Lilac and Carol. Plays for the first half of Dragon Valley. A remixed version also plays on the cutscenes at Lilac's Treehouse. MEANIE Boss!
The mid-level boss theme. It first plays halfway through Dragon Valley, and plays on all stages, with the exceptions of Trap Hideout, Pangu Lagoon, Battle Glacier (if Schmup Stage is not considered a part of it) and the Final Dreadnought stages. Also goes under the name of "Minor Boss Battle" Major Boss Battle
First plays against the Level boss of Dragon Valley. It is also the Level Boss theme for Relic Maze, Fortune Night, Jade Creek, and Final Dreadnought 1. Bossoft
Plays as the Level Boss theme for Aqua Tunnel, Trap Hideout, and Thermal Base. Also goes under the name "Aquatic Boss Battle" Up the Creek
The song that plays for the first half of the fifth level, Jade Creek. Also goes under the name Jade Creek 1 Thermal Base (Part 1)
The song plays for the first half of the level "Thermal Base". Depending on weather you are using Lilac or not, this is either the 6th or 7th level in the game. Neo Chase
This song plays as the level boss theme of Pangu Lagoon and Final Dreadnought 3. However, if you use Milla, this song will not play, as she doesn't go to Pangu Lagoon, nor does she have a boss fight on Final Dreadnought 3. It also goes under the name of "Tragic Boss Battle" Schmup Stage
The theme for the Side Scrolling Shooter section before Battle Glacier. Depending on who you use, it will be after "Pangu Lagoon" or "Thermal Base", and you will use either the Holodragon or one of Mayor Zao's tanks (if you are Lilac or Carol/Milla respectively). It also plays in the Bonus Room during the "Final Dreadnought" levels. Battle Glacier (Part 1)
Plays for the first half of the second-to-last level, Battle Glacier. Sigwada
An upcoming stage from Freedom Planet 2, the Sigwada is also an Airship stage. The song is currently an "Old Mix" Street Knuckle (Mid-Boss Theme)
The upcoming Mid-Boss theme from Freedom Planet 2. Currently, we only have access to a Short loop, but it should give an idea of how the song goes Hub World 3 (Airship?)
An upcoming Hub world from Freedom Planet 2, it is believed to be for an AirShip-themed Hub (Maybe the Sigwada as well?)

Updated the Song List to feature 2 new songs (Neo Chase and Thermal Base 2), pointed out the main song(s) of the stage, and added links to the songs (click the song name to listen to it)
Edit: Also added a brief description to every song (I tried my best to leave out Spoilers)
Just as an opinion but wouldn't it be cooler if when you beat the boss, an explosion colored after the player expands a certain distance and players could get kills with it?

Possibly. I'll play through Sky Battalion again to see if I want to change anything/pull anything from the game.
Made some more edits: Edited the Airship hazards Minor changes to Prince Dail Removed "Chase Scene" from Possible Song List Added "Boss Battle Medley" to Possible Song List Added the Alternate Names to "To The Rescue!", "MEANIE Boss!", "Bossoft", and "Neo Chase"

Updated the song list some more.
Removed "To the Rescue" Added Relic Maze (Part 1), Up the Creek, Thermal Base 1, and Final Dreadnought 3.
I am also planning on getting together a screenshot of the Airship pulled straight from the game (as oppose to the zoomed-out version). Keep in mind that this is a HUGE level, so getting this will take some time.

Made some minor edits to the descriptions of the following songs
Freedom Planet Theme
Dragon Valley 1
MEANIE Boss!
Neo Chase
More importantly, Prince Dail is now out of the Possible Additions and into the main Hazards (I gave him the Green Light), and changed the way you damage him to take timed matches into account
Put the songs "Sky Battalion" and "Prince Dail Battle Theme" into a section known as "Standard Choices," with every other song going into a section known as "Other Choices." Added four new songs, none of which are from Freedom Planet, into "Other Choices." They are:
Intro (Gunstar Heroes)
To End the Battle/To Out World (Gunstar Heroes)
Theme of Seven-Force (Gunstar Heroes)
Bedknobs and Glowsticks (Runbow)

Re-Adjusted the Song List, removing the Runbow song, the Gunstar songs, and Sky Battalion (Beta), and replaced them with 3 upcoming songs from Freedom Planet 2. They are...
Sigwada
Street Knuckle
Hub World 3
Note that the songs are still in a more-or-less "Beta" state, so they may change at a later time
