Star Fox Series

The Star Fox series is one of my favorite of all time, my and my then future girlfriend (and her sisters) would play Star Fox: Assault almost daily growing as kids.  The multiplayer mode was probably the most fun I've ever had in a video game; that, Melee, and DBZ: Budokai are what made me into a gamer.

Anyway, with Star Fox: Zero on the horizon, it's a very exciting time to be a Star Fox fan!  For those who haven't seen it, here's a trailer

Also, there's a fan made Star Fox game in the works, called Star Fox: Event Horizon.  It's made in the engine of another favorite game of mine, Freespace 2: Open.  By combining FS2's simulation (made somewhat more arcady, with somewhat auto-aim and regenerating health) gameplay with Star Fox' creative universe.

I've never played a Star Fox game that wasn't the 3DS 64 remake, but I'll probably be picking up Star Fox Zero when it drops.

Star Fox: Zero got delayed till 2016. Shame, but hopefully they add that potential online mode Miyamoto discussed.

Star Fox: Zero has recently gotten major graphical upgrades, mainly the lighting engine. It now features self-shading and other neat lighting features, which final puts its graphical fidelity above an emulated Star Fox: Assault, imo.

Star Fox: Zero is out, and oh man...it's just great.

I'ts getting a lot of flack for its controls, but to me they work great; they feel completely natural and enhance precision.

It is a re-imagining of 64 which was a bit disappointing to me, but it is thoroughly enjoyable still, and the level design is shaken up so it's all good. The only other thing I don't like is the lack of competitive multiplayer, which is where I spend a lot of my time in in this series.

The single player is very awesome; Gyrowing was surprisingly fun, the on-rails missions are just insane, and the AI actually attempts to target you in all-range mode.

I love this too much.

I might pick Star Fox Zero up if it drops in price down the road
