Subject: Terra Brandford (Final Fantasy) Discussion Thu Jun 25, 2015 11:23 pm
Terra Branford is the first playable character in Final Fantasy VI, and the most central character in the game. She is called Tina in the Japanese version of the game, but this was changed in international ports because Ted Woolsey the translator for Final Fantasy 6, thought the name Tina wasn't exotic enough for English-speaking gamers. Terra is half-human, half-Esper. She is one of the few characters who can learn magic naturally, and is the only half-human/half-Esper hybrid in existence. Her unique ability, and heritage makes her a key character in the war between the Gestahlian Empire and the rebel faction, the Returners. However, because she is half-human/half-Esper she is generally confused on life, and love and generally unsure of how to feel.
Why Terra? - The reason why I chose her over another main character from FF is because FFVI was the last new (as in, not a port or remake) main series FF game to show up on a Nintendo console, since this was back before Square left for Sony.
Specials
Up Special (Tornado):Summon three tornadoes around Terra that spin and combine into one. Deflects attacks. while in the air Terra will rise

Largest range and high speed
Neutral Special (Holy/Ultima):Shoots five balls of light that home in on the opponent, f it hits, then a big, white explosion will occur. If the player hits the B button again right when it hits the opponent, Terra will use Ultima Ultima:Conjure a spherical field of energy around the opponent that hits them multiple times and then explodes Ultima has no knockback but causes much damage
Down Special (Meteo):Terra will open up a portal from space and send dozens of meteors quickly flying at her opponents.

You know, I also wanted to do a thread for Terra Brandford at some point, because Final Fantasy 6 was my favorite Final Fantasy (and still is), so naturally, I will support this.

What makes her unique? Yes, she's a spellcaster, but the way she's utilizing that is fairly generic. I'm not going to argue if she deserves a spot (Primary protagonist from one of the most popular Final Fantasy games, can't dispute that), I'm arguing if she can have a unique moveset.
Also... I'm not well versed in Final Fantasy lore, but can she do anything that, say, Kefka can't? I feel like Kefka is more well known amongst the masses and represents the same game... unless that 'Half-Esper' thing actually does something meaningful for Terra.

The reason why I suggested to Terra rather than Kefka was that it seemed more appropriate for a hero before entering an antagonist. although I agree that kefka would also be a good choice. as to moveset I'm always open to suggestions, which should be changed to make it less generic

I'll support, and since you asked...:
Spoiler:
FFVI has many playable characters, so I suggest having moves based on those other characters:
Down B: Runic (Terra uses a sword like G&W's bucket, the attack has less range but it heals some HP).
NAir: Grand Delta (A slower, bigger and triangular version of Lucas' SSB4 NAir).
Dash Attack: Dice (Terra throws a pair of dice that do random damage).
DThrow: Wild Fang (Terra throws the foe downwards and it's followed by Interceptor, Shadow's dog).
FThrow: Flurry (Terra does 4 slashes in a row, it isn't a combo throw or a kill throw, but it does a lot of damage).
Uthrow: Meteor Strike (A suplex like Kirby/Charizard's UThrow).
BThrow: Hurl (Terra grabs the foe and launches it backwards).
Other moves:
Jab (You forgot about this): Downward slash>Upward Slash>Tornado.
Neutral B: Flare (A charged attack that traps the foe and explodes in front of her).
Up B: Jump (A big jump followed by a faster version of Link's DAir, not TL's because the pogo effect is important).

Still supporting. Just imagine how awesome it would be if Crusade had both Terra and SSB4 Cloud.

Sounds like her moveset is taken from Dissidia Final Fantasy
Having Tina/Terra Branford would be excellent.

moveset was based on Final Fantasy VI and Dissidia
I've also updated the moveset, and I'm playing Final Fantasy VI again so I'll keep improving it
