Tin Star (Tin Star) Discussion: "DANGUMIT! Always durin' mah Coffee Break..." Tinstar

Now in case you don't know who this robotic cowpoke is, allow me to explain.

Tin Star comes from a 1994 railshooter for the Super Nintendo called, well, "Tin Star". He's the sherriff of a town called "East Driftwood", a western enviorment populated by robots. Accompained by his faithful sidekick, Mo Crash, and not-so-loyal steed, Aluminum, Tin Star must round up a group of outlaws in the span of a week. What makes this game stand out was the fact you could use not only the SNES Controller, but ALSO The SNES Mouse AND The Super Scope. In otherwords, this game was compatible with ALL the Super Nintendo's accessories. AND, his game was made by Nintendo themselves, so he wouldn't even cost a thrid-party slot!

Moveset:

Standard Attacks:
A: Tin Star punches forward.
A + A: Tin Star delivers an uppercut.
Side: Tin Star kicks forward.
Up: Tin Star dives his head forward.
Down: Tin Star delivers a trip kick.
Running: Tin Star rolls forward.

SMASH Attacks:
Side: Tin Star takes out his revolver and shoots a blast from it.
Up: Tin Star does a upwards kickstand, and when it's done, he comedically lands on his face, getting back up with a sheepish grin.
Down: Tin Star shoots a blast from both the revolvers in his holsters.

Air Attacks:
Main: Tin Star does a somersault.
Forward: Tin Star delivers a Luigi-esque Karate Chop.
Backwards: Tin Star kicks both feet to the side.
Up: Tin Star twirls his body around in fan formation.
Down: Tin Star preforms a dive as if he were diving into a pool. If he lands on someone, he bounces off them and onto his feet. If not, he falls flat on his face.

Grabs:
Pummel: Tin Star knees his opponent.
Forward: Tin Star lifts his opponent and blasts them with his revolver.
Backwards: In a similar fashion to Fox, Tin Star throws his opponent and blasts them from behind with both revolvers.
Up: Tin Star throws the opponent up in the air.
Down: Tin Star stomps on his opponent three times, then kicks them aside.

SPECIAL MOVES:
Standard Special: Knock-'Em-Down
Tin Star throws a jug in air, and in a similar fashion to Duck Hunt Duo's Hogan Alley Can, can continue to be shot around and sent sailing. Unlike that move, however, the jug will shatter when it makes contact with the ground. The jug changes color after being shot, too! The standard green will do more damage than the overshot red. However, the jug will only go up to red before it eventually can't take any more abuse, so be careful!

Side Special: Aluminum
Tin Star yells, "Hi-Ho Aluminum! AWAY!" and his trusty, somewhat rusty steed, Aluminum comes for him to ride. This move works similar to Wario's bike, only if Aluminum is attacked once, he'll neight harshly and gallop away. There's a 1-in-94 chance Aluminum won't even stop for Tin Star, and just continue to gallop away with being able to give him a ride.

Up Special: Vulture Ride
A Hungry vulture swoops down as Tin Star grabs it by the legs as it flies back up. After 2 seconds of riding the vulture, Tin Star shoots it as it turns into a Turkey Dinner. If it lands on the ground, anyone can eat the turkey dinner to restore minor health.

Down Special: Dynamite
Tin Star throws a stick of dynamite in the air, which will explode when it makes contact with anything in the air or on the ground.

Final Smash: Showdown
A crosshair shows up and Tin Star takes aim. If he makes contact with anyone, the opponent is blasted away into a cinematic shot of The East Driftwood Desert. Tin Star then gallops in on Aluminum and delivers a quick blast which sends them sailing.

Entry: Tin Star is seen taking a nap by a cactus. He then lifts up his hat and gets on his feet as he enters his fighting stance.

Taunt: Tin Star flexes his muscles.

Win Pose: An outlaw creeps its way by Tin Star, whom he blasts with his revolver. Afterwards, he blows the smoke off from the tip.

Lose: Tin Star claps for the victor.

So what you think?

Okay, yeah, this is both funny and actually a really cool "surprise" first party rep. Support.

Tin Star isn't actually first party. It was published by Nintendo, but made by Software Creations.

What exactly is his playstyle? What makes him unique?

In that case, no support, to be honest. May seem really out of the blue but that changes everything IMO.

Software Creations is no more. This aside, the title screen of the game says, "(c) 1994 Nintendo", so by default, it's Nintendo's property.

See?

His playstyle is a mixture of slapstick and projectile-enduced. What makes him unique is, like I said, he would represent a character from the Super Nintendo days that utilized all three controller playstyles.

Now I'm confused, is he Nintendo or not? I'm not good with this kinda stuff...this'll decide if I support or don't.

I... don't know. There's that copyright symbol, but wasn't made by Nintendo and it seems weird for a first party game to only be in North America (it wasn't released in Japan or Europe).

I know Wonderful 101 exists, but at least that is clear that it belongs to Nintendo.

I mean, I would ASSUME, that since he was copyrighted by Nintendo, he's at the very least owned by Nintendo of America.

And like I said, Software Creations went out of buisness, so I think all rights for the character would be...transfered, maybe?

I dunno. I'm just gonna mark him as a Nintendo character and leave it at that. I mean, he's trademarked by them, copyrighted by them, and his only game was on a Nintendo console.

Also, 'slapstick and projectiles' doesn't rell me what his playstyle is. Is he heavy? What can he do that no other character can do?

I would classify him as a mid-heavyweight character.

I'm not really sure what Tin Star would offer as far as different stuff (as evidenced in my moveset, some moves were taken from characters like Fox), but it would definately be neat to have another firearm user. Crusade doesn't have many aside from Fox, Falco and The Mach Rider.

I'm not counting Snake since his moveset focuses moreso on explosives and traps.

Actually, the Wonderful 101 belongs to Platinum Games (creators of Bayonetta & MadWorld)

The Wonderful 101 IP belongs to Nintendo, just as the Bayonetta IP belongs to SEGA.

Now that makes me curious if Tin Star's intital IP belongs to Nintendo despite being made by another company.

I would believe so.

I'm gonna play this game and determine whether I find him interesting or not. Honestly looks fun, always nice to have some new blood in the suggestions box. Wonder what's next, Ardy Lightfoot? For now a definite maybe from me. Points on creativity and a fair moveset.
