Lethal League is an indie fighting game made by Team Reptile where instead of trying to hit your opponents directly, you hit a baseball back and forth until it connects. You get smashes, bunts, and a unique special for each character. There’s not much to take from, but a moveset is still possible boys.
Candyman is a 28 year old mutated man implied to be insane, and the most recognizable character from Lethal League. In Lethal League, his special mobility is limited as all he has is the highest jump, however if you hold the jump button you can hover a bit.
Why should Candyman be in? Well, with the sequel (Lethal League Blaze) coming out this year, now would be as good of time as any to have him, and given the new animations shown off in LLB thanks to Team Reptile, a moveset is now currently possible
By the way this was made with help from the official Team Reptile discord, developers had no comment.
Non Attack stuff:
Predicted Tier Placement - B
Some unique animations
Some animations based on Marth
Classic Mode Stage (If a LL stage isn’t added) - Q*Bert
Classic Mode Music - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jve-WgrF4Lc
Floaty Jumps
Glide - technically yes, however not much of one, just sort of hovers.
Slippery movements, speed somewhere by Marth
Double jump:
Taunt:
Run:
Walk: Run but in slow
Damage/Shield Break/Star KO/Screen KO/Grab Release:
Star KO Sound: He yells "Dammit Dammit Dammit!"
Idle:
Crouch:
Jump:
Tumble:
Entrance: He just drops into the stage like in Lethal League, but also finishes it with a taunt
Victory Fanfare: First 15 seconds of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7qC3vGhpKA
Victory Animation: he taunts again, with the soundbite of “Whoah, haha, look out”
Attacks:
Grab and Hold (We’ll see this again later):
Pummel: He beats his held opponent with his cane
Forward throw (We’ll also see this again later):
Up Throw: Tosses his opponent upward sort of lazily
Down throw: Slams opponent down then twists his cane into them
Back throw: He spins and does his forward throw animation
N-Air: He swings his cane, causing him to rotate in a clockwise motion.
F-Air: Spikes
- Spoiler:
B-air: He swings his cane in an overhead motion, causing it to switch hands. The hitbox at the bottom of this swing is a spike.
D-Air:
the new Downward Swing from LLB, spikes
U-Air: Very similar to Marth’s up air
S-Smash:
- Spoiler:
U-Smash: Upward swing
D-Smash: Fairly similar to Marth’s
Jab: He swings his cane once. No multi-jab
F-Tilt: Bunt animation
D-Tilt: Spins around, his legs become the hurtbox
U-Tilt: Overhead Swing
Dash: He runs and swings, causing him to slide.
Getup:
this is Raptor’s animation for this move, but everyone in LLB has a getup attack which draws the ball towards them. That is not how it would function in crusade, instead being more like an electric shock field.
N Special: Ball throw:
(a ball spawning in Candyman’s hands)
(Candyman throwing the ball)
The ball would travel a short distance, but has high knockback
Side Special: Reflect: He swings his cane in a style similar to a Cricket bat
- Spoiler:
in order to reflect projectiles
D Special: Parry: He holds a ball in hitlag, if anyone tries to attack him, they are forced back into their shield break animation
Up Special: Candycopter (The name the discord came up with): You ever seen Bandana Dee in Smash Flash?
- Spoiler:
Yeah it’s functionally identical, except it’s Candyman spinning his cane as a recovery
Final Smash: Candyball: His special from Lethal League, in Lethal League he turns the ball into this
which is what is known as a Candyball. This ball will go through walls, so that’s why it’s his final smash. How it would function in Crusade is he hits a Candyball downwards, yelling “Have a Jawbreaker!” It loops around the stage, getting faster and faster and larger and larger for about 10 seconds. Anyone hit will be put into a whited-out pallette of their shield break sprite. The faster it goes, the more damage and knockback it has. If it hits a wall or the floor of a stage, it leaves a yellow puddle behind which disappears as soon as the Candyball appears on the other side
Well that’s it. I enjoyed making this, but I can’t take all the credit. I had some help from the Team Reptile Discord, more specifically, Entity Number X, who helped create the specials. I think this character has just the right personality for a Smash game, don’t you?
