Furthermore, I suggest Agumon/Greymon (Digimon)

Reasoning:
1. One of the three founding members of the Crusade Alliance, the other two being in the main roster already (Duck Hunt Dog and Ancient Minister).
2. Represents the Bandai part of Namco-Bandai.
3. Adds a unique gimmick. (Being able to switch between the small, weak, fast, light Agumon and the large, strong, slow, heavy Greymon. Greymon having a Stamina counter that makes him weak when the time has passed, similar to the Trainer, while Agumon has no such counter.)
4. Serves as the old rival to Pikachu and Pokemon in general, and a Pokemon vs. Digimon fight would now be possible.
5. There was a Smash clone for Digimon.

Sorry for the double post, but I feel issue should be taken on this.

1. There are 25 slots total. 1 slot goes to Mario, 1 slot goes to Legend of Zelda, 1 slot goes to Pokemon, 1 slot goes to Kirby, 1 slot goes to Tomato Adventure (DeMille/Aretha). Hence 20 slots are entirely open, while four are open only to certain series and one is just taken.
2. Well the original dev team agreed with my idea, the new dev team (as far as I know) agrees with this idea, the forum agrees with this idea... I don't see where an issue with this is. DeMille is my little section of personal bias. And Ancient Minister doesn't count because he has a lot of support and takes up no roster space.
Technically I decided upon this with help from Nights and the original dev team.

The game doesn't come out for another 4 days in Europe and a week in America. We don't know if there are other worthy characters yet, which is why I'm waiting until people have actually played the game to hold the poll.

I got one question about the 1st phase. If a character is suggested by a member here on the thread, yet its hasnt been confirmed as a candidate on the OP, can I suggest the same character or I can only suggest who hasn't been mentioned yet?

@Golden: This is DLC, meaning if Nintendo-relevance is the main issue then they still have a chance.

@SmashKing: You can state you support the character but you don't have to suggest them again. The OP might not be updated just because I haven't had time to, you know.

Tom Nook (Animal Crossing)

Reason:
1. The mascot of the Animal Crossing series.
2. Other than Pikmin, the Animal Crossing series is one of the 2 mainstream new series in this generation.
3. Other than the Animal Crosser (who is does not have an original appearance), Tom Nook is really the only character that would make sense to use the Tools as weapons.
4. A series different from the other Nintendo franchises that are fighting, adventure, racing, RPG, etc. Animal Crossing is like Nintendo's version of The Sims in a way.
5. With Animal Crossing growing as a major player for Nintendo, Tom Nook is becoming more recognizable to this generation of gaming.
6. Animal Crossing is becoming one of Nintendo's major franchises similar to how Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Pokemon, Star Fox, Metroid, Pikmin, etc are.

2. Andy is perhaps the most popular Advance/Battalion Wars character.
3. Advance/Battalion Wars series is Nintendo's first role-playing game debuting in 1988. A playstyle that was later used for Fire Emblem 2 years later.


Chibi-Robo (Chibi-Robo)

1. A unique character that can use household items and switch between them
2. A successful series in its own rights.

Reason:
1. Would rep Maxis, which is now under EA Games. Therefore he would rep that company as well as Nintendo
2. Was Maxis first non-generic character made.
3. Sim City was the first game Nintendo & Maxis collaborated with.
4. Sim City was one of the launch games for the Super Nintendo.
5. Dr. Wright has appeared in other Nintendo games. One of them being in Legend of Zelda (I think it was Link's Awakening)
6. Was on Brawl's Japanese Poll and later was an assist trophy.
7. I have a good move set for him XD

Wesker reason:
1. Resident Evil is one of Capcom's Big 3 all-time franchises along with Street Fighter and Mega Man
2. Most main and spin-off Resident Evil games have appeared on Nintendo consoles, most notably the 4th game, which was a major selling point for the GameCube.
3. Wesker has appeared in most of the aforementioned games.
4. The RE series is indecisive with a main protagonist, though it has a primary antagonist, who is none other than Wesker. (And, we need more bad guys.)
5. Would complete the representation of Capcom, and a good character to serve as their DLC rep.

Hayabusa reason:
1. Let me be straightforward: He's a freakin' ninja. THE Gaming Ninja.
2. Tecmo is one of the oldest 3rd party developers for Nintendo consoles, and has collaborated at times with Nintendo on games.
3. Ninja Gaiden is a well-known, long-running franchise that has extended into modern gaming, and got its start on the NES.
4. He's already had a starring role in a fighting game series.

Also, may I suggest Lyndis (Fire Emblem 7)

Reason (more of a personal bias):
1. We need a FE newcomer blahhh
2. Shitty reason, but we may as well have more female characters. </bias>
3. FE7 was the first FE game released outside of Japan, and thus one of the best-known.
4. Sure, she's ANOTHER sword using FE character, though she also uses bows, which can balance things out a bit.
5. Was requested for Brawl and ended up being an assist trophy.

Strider Hiryu

Reasons:
1. He is a classic character from Capcom.
2. He has been on all the MvC games, as well on NvC.
3. He has good moveset potencial.
4. He has made many cameos in Capcom games.
5. He has a HUGE fanbase, and was included in the top 10 of best videogame ninja characters.

Seeing as Nintendo relevance doesn't matter with DLC:

Master Chief (Halo)

Reasoning:
1. Halo is one of the most popular franchises.
2. A Samus vs. Master Chief matchup is high on numerous fans' lists.
3. Chief is a video game icon now.
4. There was a scrapped Halo DS which WOULD'VE given him Nintendo relevance.

1. He's a popular gaming icon for one of the biggest popular hat collecting shooter multiplayer games out there.
2. He'd be hilarious to play as.
3. TF2 has spawned several internet memes, so pretty much almost everyone knows about TF2.

- Shantae -
1. She would kinda bring in a new gimmick (transforming to perform certain moves)
2. Her games are some of the best platformers out there (according to myself, fans, and game reviewers)
3. SHE'S ADORABLE

- Frank West -
1. He's covered wars
2. He would represent a popular CAPCOM franchise
3. He has great moveset potential (being able to use anything from his games, which includes mall benches, a battleaxe, a megaman mega buster, guns, shopping karts, chainsaws, and a lot more)

C'mon Slime!

Here's another unconvential character idea:

The Angry Birds (Angry Birds):

(NOTE: I am making a moveset where you play as the Red Bird, but use the other Birds for attacks, like a summoning. Also, Final Smash is obviously the Mighty Eagle.)

Reasons:
1. VERY unique idea that probably no one thought of yet.
2. Represents a widely popular app game that now has merchandise. MERCHANDISE.
3. They're angry.
4. They're birds.
5. Would truly be a WTF character choice that could be well liked if done properly.

GY, it's been thought up before, the Angry Birds are being made into an expansion eventually.
