| Deathmatch is an alternative to Stock that requires the player to achieve a set number of KOs rather than survive the longest. In Deathmatch, lives are unlimited but losing a stock causes you to lose a point. KOs award a point, and the first player to reach the score target wins. |

| that sounds extremely similar to time matches, just getting a set amount of points instead of working for the most within a time limits |

| Perhaps it would be better off if dying did not lose points? On death a point would always go to the player who scored the kill, or dealt the most damage. That way there is still a penalty for suicide in that you dont actually get to prevent anyone from getting that point. |

I thought it was already like that...I haven't played the game in a while. It would make the most sense. |

| Does it have to be based off of points? Can't it be kills? |

| Problem with "Dying takes a point off": 1v1 Death Match means that if both players are good enough to trade stocks back and forth the game will drag on and on. The moment one gains one point, they immediately lose it. This can happen with more players too, albeit the chance of this turns more and more situational.
SDing should give the point to however delivered the last hit. SDing with 0% should take a point off. Getting KO'd rewards a rival player a point.
Perhaps something to add and make this more interesting in matches with multiple people (Probably from 3 and above) would be that chainning multiple KOs without dying puts a bounty on the 1st place. This "Streak" is only achieved when a player who is winning has 2-3 more KOs than the 2nd place. Whoever breaks the streak is rewarded 2 points, adding an interesting "Comeback" or "Catch up" factor that makes matches more intense for the better players. |
