Crusade online mode is P2P: You either host or connect. If you host you give your IP to the other person (whichever IP it is, your actual one or something else like Evolve or Hamachi). If you connect you just type in the IP your opponent gives you.

You should put in the ability to go online locally with up to 4 other players (in the case of a 6-player match where you are 5 in one room playing on the PC with 1 more friend playing from another area/state/country online) especially since you now have official controller support.
Reminder: In Brawl you could go online as 3 players in "With Friends" and play with a 4th friend online.
