heaven forbid I bring up the "yeah cool =)" example again but I honestly don't find why it'd be annoying otherwise

Honestly, I completely agree with Generic. There have been times where a bumped topic became beneficial.

If you go into it with no prejudice, Naruto is actually a great show (So long as you skip the anime-only arc's, they're godawful).

I had the hardest time getting into it due to its annoying protagonist and constant reliant on cheap humor. But it is starting over on Toonami here in the US, so I suppose I'll give it a shot.

Do yourself a favour and skip Seasons 3 & 5, I haven't reached Season 6 yet.

Seasons 3 & 5 are unique to the anime, and aren't in the manga, and they have no regard for the lore that the series have established. Take Season 5 for example, they spend three seasons establishing the advanced chakra rules, basically there are 5 main chakra styles, fire, water, lightning, earth and wind. Occasionally you get advanced "Genius" characters who can use both styles to form a new one called a Kekkei-Genkai (Haku for example used Water/Wind to make Ice Style). It sounds pretty easy to understand, yet Season 5 missed the last three series, because out of the blue is a new character they throw in for no reason, who has this special gift, "Crystal Style", giving no explanation at all.

I still follow Naruto, manga and anime. The most recent filler was actually a movie split into 6 episodes. It had cgi and everything. It wasn't canon, but it certainly could have been since it made use of Kabuto's early version of the resurrection jutsu.
