Metagross wai...

So I go to Pokemon Showdown to make a UU team, my first UU team, with a Metagross-Swampert-Hydreigon core. Then, after only knowing him as a UU pokemon, it seems that this very day, or someday very recently, he was bumped up to OU.

My luck tends to be very bad. I don't want another OU team, I want a UU team.

This could be why. It could also be due to the Assault Vest item. The Assault Vest increases Sp.Def by 50% with the only downside being that he can't use Status moves. This means that Metagross can have potential base stats with Assault Vest of 80/135/130/95/135/70, a total of 645 Base Stats.

That insane level of Attack, Defense and Special Defense, coupled with the fact that Metagross has no x4 weaknesses and that one of his abilities eliminates stat drops means I'm honestly surprised he's not considered Uber.

Metagross also has Meteor Mash, which is a 90 Power STAB attack that can increase his Attack even further.

Are you allowed to use items with Mega Evolutions? I remember when Relic posted his Scolipede idea, and he had Mega Charizard holding a Mega Stone, so I assumed that you have to be holding that to be Mega Evolved?

Also was Meteor Mash a typo, or has it actually been weakened since gen 3 (power 100)?

Btw Relic similar thing almost happened to me. Salamence is and always has been my favourite Pokemon, and has always been a staple of my main OU team. He got banned sometime late in gen 4... right after I stopped playing Pokemon.

The Mega Stone is needed, I just thought it could be due to either the Mega Stone or Assault Vest or both. Though I checked Smogon and nobody seems to mention Assault Vest so IDK. It seems to be all Mega Stones', Life Orbs and Choice Band's.

Also yeah Meteor Mash is 90 power now.

Sounds like not much has actually changed. Metagross certainly won't be Uber. Even in gen 3, he's not that high up in OU, and that was when he had the second most powerful attack in the tier, after Heracross. He's either a bulky powerhouse with CB, a situational sweeper with Agility, or a gen 4 lead with SR and Explosion. All of them have weaknesses. Has he picked up any extra tricks since gen 4?

Not that I'm aware of, except obviously Mega Metagross which grants stat boosts and Tough Claws.
