| So I'm here to ask you all a question. Should we close the Project Crusade Wiki? Some of you might not know there is a Wiki. Some of you are editing the Wiki as I write this. And that's the problem. I discovered that anyone can create a page on the Wiki, and edit it since the new page doesn't have permissions. I could try and make the wiki so that only admins can make pages, but the problem with that is I don't have the power to do that. Also, there are two more problems. One of them is that I can't play .9 on this computer. What does this mean? I was the main contributor to the wiki, making dozens of edits each time I visit. But since I can't play .9, I can't keep any pages up to date. Another problem is the wiki doesn't truly serve a purpose in my opinion. I feel the best answer is to close the wiki for good. I'll see your opinions before I send a request to the wikia team to close our wiki. |

seems
strange

| I vote yes, though if there are any good articles you'd like to keep you can archive them for future use if possible. |

| Nah. New players still need some foundation before they can get anywhere technical with their characters. It might be nice to have a direct depository for the characters; I don't know any other place to find one.
Besides, with the new version coming up, it would be more beneficial to update it rather than have is closed. |

| Has there been a case of people actively trolling or sabotaging the wiki? If not, I really don't think editing without permissions is a problem. Not being degrading but instead realistic, our game isn't big enough to have its wiki targeted by trolls. |

OHHH YES IT IS. Have you been to the facebook page before? Anyway i think the wiki should be restricted on contributors, but not closed. To the contrary, I think the wiki needs to be more well known. Have a link to it on the facebook page, clearly marked. |

| I've never gone on but i wouldnt mind working on sections relating to competitive play. In fact those should be limited to people like myself, Dry, Merc, Traweezie, Det, etc. |

| I can't remember how long ago this was now, but I (and one other, which I think was Blitz...?) originally bugged plasmis to get the wiki up and running again. After we gave up, it was Light here who took it up again.
I think if we want this wiki to not be an empty wasteland, it needs lots of contributors. We should have the editor's list bigger rather than smaller, just so that we have some content at all. |

| The main problem with the people making pages is the difference in quality It's this http://projectcrusade.wikia.com/wiki/Luigi
vs.
this http://projectcrusade.wikia.com/wiki/Crash_Bandicoot
Now I could clean it up and lock it, but then it would be just be left in limbo like this http://projectcrusade.wikia.com/wiki/Pacman
because I can't actually get the things I need to add any information. It's clear that you guys want to have a wiki, but I'm not sure of a solution to fix the problem. I can't actually make any more editors since I don't have the power to give admin powers on the wiki. Any suggestions? The only thing I can think of is starting a new wiki that may or may not be a worst quality of the current wiki. |

| A new wiki is not a bad idea, either way I'd be up for becoming an editor. |

| It seems people support making a new wiki. I'll wait a day to see either more support or different suggestions before I start making a new wiki or something. |

| Alright, my two cents:
I'm not sure a wiki would be the best medium to create a small informative site only editable by a select number of people. It only causes overcomplications.
My suggestion is to create a small on-site guide with basic information pertaining only to the most basic topics - characters, stages, items, modes, mechanics, et cetera. Expand on them as you need to, but don't overdo it (everybody knows Mario is a plumber, nobody needs to know his side tilt does 7% damage*, some things just don't need to be stated). Just provide some small insight as to their context in Crusade and what their function/purpose is. Nothing fancy.
Like Brawl's dojo site, but more in-depth. The reason Brawl's dojo succeeded so well was that it never said more than it needed. You must recover! X character joins the fray! Keep it simple.
Does this make sense?
*competitive/metagame guides can be published separately, of course |

| ^I like your idea, but until the section is created, we'll just use the wiki
I'll start the new wiki when I have time, probably friday or saturday. Once I got most of the pages copied to the new wiki I'll start adding new editors. When that happens I'll probably make another thread to recruit editors. Thank you for your opinions, and hopefully this new wiki will be better than the last. |

| Don't bother, imo.
I generally think maintaining a wiki would be a major waste of time and effort that could be put to better use doing something beneficial to the game at large. As someone who spent a lot of time editing the wiki back in the early Forumotion days, my main motivator for doing so was that it gave me a sense of responsibility within the community; I felt like I was productive and making a worthwhile contribution to the project when in reality I was merely mindlessly typing out information already provided to me by other people.
Skimming through the wiki now, it seems like not much has changed since 2011. The format's the same, the content is just as dryly written and incomprehensible, the articles are still padded out with inaccessible meta-game babble while lacking any real substance or flavour. Not to mention that the only people I've ever seen pay attention to the wiki are the editors themselves.
So why bother remaking the wiki if it'll only end up another circlejerk for the talentless members of the forum to pretend they're doing their part?
You all need to set your priorities straight. |
