| Well I was thinking... what if we had money matches in crusade but instead of money we would bet points. I thought it would be a fun way to mix things up in the PR.
The rules could be something like this: Both "Rivals" must agree to playing a match. Regular tourney rules apply to the match. Players will choose if they want to play a best of series or first to series. The number of games will be determined by the amount of points that are on the table EX: 1-2 = best of 3/first to 3 3-4 = best of 5/first to 5 5 = best of 7/first to 7 Maximum bet is up to 5 points. Players can have up to 3 MM within a month and can not challenge the same opponents
I want to see what you guys think about this. |

| I like the idea. We could even make the "points" become part of the profile, kinda like how we used to have karma way back when. |

Yeah that could work. it would be alot easier than going back to the PR topic to see how many points players have

| Everybody could have a certain number of points to work with. Or, they could refill points every month. |

| Just going to point out that "best of" and "first to" are the same thing. Best of 3 translates directly to First to 2. Best of 5 is First to 3. There's no difference. |

No... I was thinking of using your actual points from the PR. If it was all just for fun then it might as well call it friendlies. Also why would the points refill every month? That also defeat the purpose of the "Money match". - Perfect Hell wrote:

Yes it's same thing. Usually the "first to" sets are longer than the "best of" sets which is why the "first to" games are one game longer than the "best of" in the rules. Btw what do you think about this PH? Since your in charge of the tourney stuff I want to hear your opinion the most |

| I approve of this. Especially me wanting to get back at Mike for thinking he's "better" than me. |

| I don't approve of using PR points. If i challenge a top player to Melee tomorrow and win, our power rankings won't be affected by it. A money match is just that; betting money. It does not however reflect on your own tournament prowess. Money matches are also rarely publicized or streamed. Occasionally a rivalry match happens for money on stream and gets big, but it's exceedingly rare. The only big one i can think of in recent years is Ken vs Scar. There's also the Mango v Hbox that spawned an East v West crew battle coming up at Apex this year, but that's not even the same. Neither of these examples were/are for money. Imo losing a single match to a specific player by challenge should not affect the PR, which is supposed to show who is winning the most tournaments. |

| Well we could use a different form of currency, it doesn't have to be PR points. |

| there should definitely be a way to challenge people outside of tournaments which affects the PR
whether or not this is the best method is up for debate, but part of the point of a money match is to emulate a tournament setting: tournament rules with money on the line. maybe you never play someone in tourney and want to get them to play you seriously, or you want to prove that you're better than another player before/after a tourney ends (e.g. 3rd place MM'ing 1st place) |

Personally I thought of this because no one else makes tourneys or don't have time to join tourneys. This is a way to prove themselves as players. Come on let's be honest here.. how long will it take for someone to catch up to me? If no one going to join/create tourneys the PR will stay the same... |

The point of the challenge is not to change a players power ranking, which is supposed to be based strictly on tournament results. This is perfectly in keeping with how real competitive gaming does it. If you want a money match with someone, you could always do it the real way and use money transfers such as paypal. Money matches, as I've said before, are not meant for publicity, though if you want them to be, then perhaps we can set up a challenges thread where players can challenge each other and record/stream the matches for all to see. If we want to set up some way to challenge each other and some sort of currency system to do it with rather than just simply challenging each other to matches and applying tournament rules as is the normal way then sure, go ahead but I'm not supporting the use of PR points in such a system. |

| The idea itself it's great, but a money Match without money isn't, well, a Money Match.
Don't get me Wrong, but PR points don't seem like something i'll care losing, which with money, it's a WAY different story. The idea it's the same, but the feeling isn't. |
