Pokemon 6th Generation - Should we redo the Pokemon DLC Poll?

Now that the 6th gen of Pokemon has been confirmed and has a general release window, I think it would be best to bring up the topic of the Pokemon DLC poll, which was closed rather prematurely.
It ended months ago with Deoxys and Meowth getting thrown into the Confirmed DLC list.
However, this now leaves no room for a potential 6th gen rep. Smash always includes the most recent and relevant generation with its own rep. Seeing as we're not going to be finished with Crusade before 6th gen comes out, we need to find somewhere to give it some representation.

I would say I'm proposing this, but it would be more accurate to say I'm just going to do it some time in the future. I still want feedback on this, though. Assuming we keep the same number of confirmed reps from the Pokemon poll, the top two from it would be made confirmed when the Kirby, Zelda, and main polls are closed as well.

We could do a 6th gen pokemon trainer (Which would very likely not be the case) or wait until Pokemon X and Y are released and see where we can go from there and start the poll again if 6th gen has good candidates other then the starters.

I'd rather have the gen v trainer we have and find a sole rep for gen vi, like how lucario repped gen iv.

Yeah, I agree. But we should wait until the game's actual release before anything is decided though.

Det, if anything I think there needs to be a generation 2 rep in the game; I see a generation 1, 3 , and 6 if I am not mistakened. A good idea would be to try and get in one pokemon from each generation that hasn't been represented in the game yet, if at all possible. Or did I miss something?

2nd gen: pichu
3rd gen: deoxys is currently confirmed dlc
4th gen: lucario
5th gen: snivy (unova trainer), zoroark
6th gen: don't have enough information but a slot should be made

We need less generation 1; look at how many are in there, that's 6 including the pokemon that come with the trainer

Gamefreak, All the generation 1 pokemon in the roster are vets, meaning they probably won't get removed. The only one that can be removed is the confirmed dlc meowth.

Well, part of the Pokemon DLC has our only 3rd gen. Wouldn't we want to keep that?

Right, I'm just saying we should strive for that when voting. I support the idea of redoing the Pokemon DLC poll.

I dont support the idea of redoing the Pokemon DLC Poll. Here are the reasons why.

1. Out of all the Confirmed DLC, Meowth was the only one who got confirmed by winning a poll fair & square. Everyone else got it due to being previously on the roster, personal choice, or for the purpose of avoiding false advertisement. Deoxys was later added as well. He was added because he had been confirmed back in Proboards to be playable & Geno was added to the main roster, thus making a Mario DLC Poll pointless. To balance things out, Pokemon got a 2nd DLC choice.

2. It is obvious that 6th gen is gonna win due to such relevance & bandwagoning. So how is this fair for either Deoxys or Meowth?

3. The Mario series originally lost their DLC privileges due to Geno. Eventually after the DLC Poll was restarted with open suggestions, the Mario series got their DLC privilege back. The only setback to this privilege for the Mario series was that the winner (that being Daisy) can't be confirmed DLC. Instead, Daisy was put on the Main DLC Poll in hopes of winning. No matter the reasons, no veteran franchises that has appeared in Smash should not get confirmed DLC at this point if Daisy has to sit on the Main DLC Poll.

So yea, I'm strongly against restarting the Pokemon DLC Poll for these reasons. I would suggest having a 6th Gen DLC Poll when the time is right. Whoever from that gen wins, gets to be on the Main DLC Poll in hopes of winning. I think that is only fair.

The Pokemon DLC poll was closed for no reason at all. Even as a Meowth supporter, I believe this. After all, why was it closed, but the Kirby and Zelda polls still open?

Pokemon was closed for a reason, as I have mentioned before.

Due to Geno getting into the Main Roster, the Mario series poll was closed due to the Main Roster already having 8 Mario reps. To balance the Mario & Pokemon series to have equal reps, the Pokemon Poll was closed with Meowth & Deoxys being confirmed (Plusle & Minum were also on the poll, but DMX was the only person who voted for them). It was closed to balance a total of 8 reps for both Mario & Pokemon repsectfully since both series always had equal number of reps.

Eventually, the Main DLC Poll was restarted along with open suggestions. The Mario DLC Poll was reopened (without Geno since he was thrown on Main Roster). The only difference from the old Mario DLC compared to the new one was that the winner will be put into the Main DLC Poll rather than Confirmed DLC.

So, if 6th gen were to win any DLC Poll AFTER open suggestions were available, then they should be on the Main DLC Poll along with Daisy. If 6th gen were to jump into Confirmed DLC, then the same should apply to Daisy, which I hope doesn't happen.

Except there was no reason to actually close the Pokemon poll. It could have just been said that the top 2 from the poll would become confirmed.

Lets see how long this dispute will last.
