THIS GAME REPRESENTS THE CATEGORY OF DREAM GAMES, WHICH IS MOSTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR HER.

LSD Dream Emulator was a game released in 1998 on the PS1. This game is a third person perspective game in which you explore bizarre dreams of one diagnosed with LSD.
While it has fallen to obscurity, it is rather well-known among certain people.
According to some, Yume Nikki (which was released in the early 2000s) had some inspiration from this, and with reason.
However, LSD was mainly to perplex the player. Yume Nikki is heavily storyline-based in a certain way.
From Madotsuki's dreams, there are many examples that can help give the player hints about Mado's background. Common theories are that she was raped, due to the common phallic imagery, and that she lost her best friend and now views her as a monster, among other things.

So what does this mean?

Yume Nikki's primary goal is to give the player an understanding of Mado's history in a vague yet somewhat clear way, while putting the player in an environment that may petrify the player, and make the character relate to Mado very well.

Yume Nikki has led to a plethora of fangames; a quantity of around 60 exist. It may also be the inspiration for certain similar games, such as Misere and Middens. Basically, it is responsible for a new genre of games: dream games.

THE NOPPERABOU, WHICH MAKES HER FACELESS AND CAPABLE OF TOSSING HER HEAD UP IN THE AIR BY ITSELF


THE DEMON EFFECT, WHICH SUMMONS LIGHTNING


THE STOPLIGHT EFFECT, WHICH STOPS ENEMIES IN THEIR SPOT

AS YOU CAN SEE, THESE LEAD TO MANY OPTIONS FOR MANY DIFFERENT MOVES, WITH HER KNIFE BEING HER PRIMARY WEAPON.
SO WHAT WOULD LIKELY BE HER MOVESET?

MEDAMAUDE: MADOTSUKI ATTEMPTS TO GRAB THE OPPONENT WITH HER HAND AS A HEAD. IF SHE SUCCEEDS, SHE'LL TELEPORT WITH THEM TO WHERE SHE SPAWNED AND SPIKE THEM TO THE FLOOR.

BICYCLE: MADO CYCLES FORWARD ON HER BIKE, TRAMPLING ANYONE SHE RUNS OVER WITH A DECENT SPEED. SHE CAN ALSO MOVE DIRECTIONS VERY QUICKLY WITH LITTLE TO NO PAUSE. SHE'LL STOP IF SHE HITS A WALL.

WITCH: MADO RIDES HER BROOM AS A WITCH AND yeah that's it

CAT: MADO QUICKLY GROWS CAT EARS AND A TAIL, LETS OUT A LOUD MEOW, DRAGGING OPPONENTS WITH A RATHER WIDE RADIUS TOWARDS HER, DOING NO DAMAGE BUT FORCING THEM TO MOVE TOWARDS HER RATHER THAN TO A SPECIFIC PLACE.

AND HER FINAL SMASH:
MADOTSUKI OPENS A DOOR. THIS IS OPEN FOR SAY, 20 SECONDS. ANY CHARACTER WHO GOES INTO THE DOOR ACCIDENTALLY HAS NO ESCAPE, AND IS SUBJECT TO FACE (look it up) WHO DEALS MASSIVE DAMAGE AND KNOCKBACK

AND OF COURSE THESE ARE ONLY POSSIBILITIES. SHE CAN DO MUCH MORE THAN THAT.
