Battlefield Theme!

Hey everyone. I was given permission last night to write the theme for the Battlefield stage last night. I showed it to some people on the
forum this morning and they gave me some nice feedback. Here's the link to it if you'd like to give a listen. Let me know what you think

It sounds OK, but only one thing.

The repeating of the same little beat over and over gets a bit much, IMO.

maybe start with that and add something else on the second part?

The intro is too long for me and I feel like after that, it's missing melody. You could somewhat reprise Melee's theme or, heck, part of Over the Edge (main menu theme) would be awesome to hear.

Other than that, it's a great start.

Oh man yeah, having a rendition of our current menu theme being used in Battlefield and Final Destination would be great! Just like the real smash :3

Well iirc he's also doing a new title theme

Anyway, i like it but it's repetitive. Battle themes should be to some extent, but not as much as this one

Well as I said on chat before, Over The Edge seems like just the upmost perfect menu theme. Not even just for Crusade, but in General.

I'm hoping if we get a new one it'll at least be just a techno remix of that.

Over the edge doesnt fit at all with 0.9 aesthetics. Its like putting Brawl menu theme on melee, it just doesnt feel right.

Well, I still want to hear how a techno-y one will sound.

(still am opposed to brony-made musics)

That version is going to be officially under the category of a VIP or Demo or whatever you want to call it. The *NEW* and Final version is being uploaded as we speak and a link will be posted asap.

I see that you put a lil' remix of menu theme

please forgive me for being a stickler, but still one thing.

the part at :44 where it slows down, it shouldnt really slow down like that I dont think. Battle themes shouldnt have slowdowns that last that long IMO.

but otherwise its pretty dang good

Well what I did was open crusade, turn off music but leave sfx on, then start a BF match and start the song up once the match loads. Gotta say it felt pretty epic at first, but a lot of the parts in the middle section felt a little slow or just didn't have enough going on. Mainly agreeing with Giga. Basically, :27 through :57 dragged. Both slowdown sections were solid, but two in a row was too much slowdown and messed up the pace of the theme

:27 - :41 was solid, and the section at :44 - :57 normally would be solid as well, but it wasn't when following the buildup at :41. Slow section -> buildup -> slow section didn't work very well imo.

I think with some work on this area of the theme it will be really solid

Small suggestion: Can there be a SMALL SMALL pinch of dubstep in there? Nothing too much though - it needs that techno feel.

Funny that you mention that. I wanted to do a dubstep mix of the theme. Ultimately, it's up to the guys in charge, but that's what I wanted to do

I remember you mentioned a Chillstep version to me yesterday. It could have the dubstep element to it, but toned down enough to fit as a menu theme.

If the theme was dub step-y, it would have to be VERY SLIGHTLY.

Dubstep isnt really the retro we're trying to go for, being a new-age thing.
