I've looked at A LOT ssb64 vids and started to wonder... what if we had a SSB64 mode? No air dodging 0-death combos and fun times.

So would you like to see that for crusade?

It would pay homage to the beginning of the series, so why not?

Eh, dont want to have it in Crusade. After being spoiled with everything Melee & Brawl gave us, its hard to enjoy what 64 had other than Board The Platforms

Doesn't seem like a major difference to me, not even close. Its all the same to me.

But my vote will be no (if we are actually voting here. lol)

Dude, there's a HUGE difference between 64 and the others. Everything had way more hitstun in 64, which means that combos were also WAY easier in that game. And even if you're a noob you can rack up huge combos because of 64 mode, and you will find it extremely fun.

On the other hand, a 64 mode means we would have to rebalance everyone for one mode, due to a complete change in the game's physics and mechanics. I'm pretty sure this was suggested half-jokingly because of 64 tas vids Traweezie and I looked up for fun. I also don't feel like balancing a cast of 80+ characters twice.

Exactly.

Say, anyone know a way to play 64 online with a rom or emulator? I like playing against my friends over and over as the same two characters against the same three characters, but a bit more variety would be nice.

Project64k tends to lag if you're not near one of the major servers. I think the only big one in America is in Chicago. Also, people on project64k tend to refuse to play on anything other than Hyrule Castle, so if you enjoy variety in stages you ain't gonna find it there. But you should try it anyway, there aren't any better alternatives.

Also for 64 mode, is it just the physics that are changing? What about the existence of up throws, down throws and side specials? What about auto-throwing, rather than being able to escape grabs? Will teching happen by pressing shield as you hit the ground like in 64, rather than just before like in the other two? Etc.

I think it would be cool to have Crusade open to different game-play styles. It could really expand our audience/fan-base and it could make for different kinds of player groups for each game-play style online.

Perhaps in the options menu, there could be different game-play styles that can be toggled between, such as Regular and Smash 64?

@Merc yup I do

@Dry 64 mode would be almost like 64.. if we were to code the game to be just like 64, it'll be like coding another game...
I'm thinking more of getting rid of side specials u throw n d throw air dodge and if we could a slight change in the physics. I know it might be hard to code so I don't wanna ask for too much

@Dmx that's the Idea here I thought we might as well since we have melee air dodge and brawl air dodge

I have a plugin for PJ64 1.6 official called AQZ Netplay. However, there are limitations:
~ As it's a P2P Plugin, you need the other's IP Address.
~ You and your opponent must have the exact same save file or it won't work.
~ Regarding SSB64, you cannot use Computer Players, because of it's random algorithm generates different characters.
~ No cheats whatsoever.

Doesn't need to be the exact file just as long as the same game and region.
actually you can use cheats for AQZ just like pj64k
only difference it doesnt send them all players have to make sure they set them.

I do recommend AQZ more stable rarely desyncs you can play 3+hrs straight on games
I play Mario Party 2 online with it like every single day lol
