Within the last few months, there has been a new program released to the public called Parsec. Parsec enables you to connect directly to a host's PC WITHOUT any use of port-forwarding to enable online multiplayer for any and all local co-op/multiplayer games on the PC platform. Of course, this includes Crusade. The setup is simple and takes only minutes to complete. Simply sign up for an account, download and install the program, add your opponent as a friend and then press "co-op" to connect.

The primary advantage of Parsec is the drastically reduced lag/input delay when compared to port-forwarding or tunneling services such as Tunngle or Hamachi. Parsec also has an extremely simple, user-friendly UI. No need for creating rooms, setting passwords or joining networks ever again. Simply request a connection to your friend's PC by pressing co-op and you are linked in seconds.

I am still currently testing Parsec with players from various parts of the globe. Add me as friend if you would like to participate. Smile

Parsec Name: kumori#50709
Discord Name: kumori#6018

(Note: Lag and delay largely depend on the host's internet speed and strength so a wired internet connection along with a minimum of 15mbps upload/download is recommended.)

Well with some better tests, I wouldn't be the one to say that this could completely replace Hamachi & Portforwarding. First- It requires specific specs off your PC and internet, which many Crusade players may not have the best of. Somehow despite being an excellent US East host to most, Parsec denies me to host anyone because I'm using Intel HD Graphics. Going out of my way for an external GPU wouldn't be fun for users who don't have one or have an integrated GPU. Second, the latency and amount of people that can be hosted. Depending on the host, the latency can be almost the same or less than it was with Hamachi, somewhat at an inconsistent rate, and being it's still said to be in Beta, has some inconsistencies with controllers and what not with certain other things. A Person could host only one person for the majority than being able to hold a 6 man FFA. Last being its general inconsistencies as mentioned above. I'd see it working more for something like Flash 2 due to how horrible online is there compared to Crusade, though juggling the hosts, specs, and capability to handle the program well, It's just an "alternate", not a replacement to Hamachi or port for certain people.

I'm still conducting tests to see just how far these limitations extend. So far, for those who cannot host on Parsec are having average to very good performance. Even for those that are continents away. You may not be able to host but you can definitely join a host. Majority of those I have fought have hosting capabilities. It is to early to say if that goes for the majority of people, although I suspect that it probably does. As for 6 man matches, you'd have better luck using Parsec than hamachi anyway since 6 man matches are more or less virtually impossible anyway. Parsec has a better chance with bigger matches than hamachi does. I also notice that PArsec performs WAY better for clients with extremely slow internet than it does in hamachi.
