| Hey guys, it's Doq, and no I am not dead. Over at Team reduX we're throwing together a second year of the successful HOPE/DESPAIR events from back when the community over at SSF2 got restless waiting for their Beta release. This year, HOPE/DESPAIR has a three game lineup (subject to change), and SSB Crusade is included! Alas, this place has been very.... lacking in tournaments (last post 23 December 2016. lol.) so there's not much to go by in terms of a standard, so I went forth and made my own. - HOPE 2017 Ruleset - Crusade:
- 4 stocks - 8 minutes - Crusade version: 0.9.0 - Items sets to none and off - Final Smashes set to off - Airdodge setting to Melee - No special settings allowed.
Stage Legality 2 bans in best of 3, 1 in best of 5
Starter - Flat Zone 3 - Outer Space - Battlefield - Final Destination - Planet's Core
Counterpick - Suzaku Castle - Kongo Jungle
Other Rules
Set Procedure
- Double Blind can be called by any player. In this instance, both players message a third party privately and verifying the two selections. - Dave's Stupid Rule is in effect. You should know this by now, but if not: You may not pick a stage you've won on in the set. - Modified Gentleman's Clause is in effect: Players may go to any *LEGAL* stage if they both agree to it. Set length may not be changed, and players may not opt for banned stages. - If time expires, player with the most stocks, or least percent in the case of same stocks, wins. If the stocks and percent are the same, or if a double KO occurs, see me. - Pausing is disallowed for any reason.... although I think pausing isn't a thing in online games. - If the match ends with a suicide move, the results screen decides the victor. If sudden death actually works, double KO rules apply.
Stalling
Stalling is banned and will result in the forfeiture of the current game being played. Stalling is defined as intentionally delaying the game as to make it unplayable. This includes: - Excessively going under and around a stage for purposes other than recovery, AKA scrooging - Using infinites to deal more than 150% damage in one combo/chaingrab, or continuing an infinite combo/chaingrab past 300% - Using invincibility/intangibility glitches. - Using freeze glitches to freeze you or your opponent's character. - Stalling does not include planking, nor hanging around in the air, as both of these strategies can be countered.
Lag and Desyncing
- If the players desynch, the game will be replayed on the same stage with the same characters. In the case where at least one stock was lost before the desynch, both players will start the game with the same number of stocks that they had at the time of the desynch. If an argument arises over desynching, the TO will determine if the game should be nullified. If the TO finds out that one player intentionally throws a game in an attempt to emulate a desynch, their opponent advances, regardless of the current score. If there is no replay information, a judgment based on past behavior of both participants will determine advancement. - If severe lag issues occur, the offending player will play with the graphics tuned to the lowest possible setting. - If the players still lag, either player may request a speedtest, in which both participants will test their respective connections. To be considered valid, this action must be taken before the second game is started. If a player's result is considered unsuitable for competitive play, they get disqualified. If player connection speed is not the issue, they will have the option to play a game with reduced stocks and time. Depending on how bad it is, they may play with 3 stocks, 7 minutes; 2 stocks, 5 minutes; or 1 stock, 3 minutes. - To be considered unsuitable, one of the following must apply: - The player has less than 4Mb/s upload AND download speed. - The player has less than 1Mb/s upload OR download speed. - If the players desynch twice on one game, it is considered "nullified" and will not count against either player. - If the source of the lag is unable to be determined, or if both players lag equally, the player with the higher seed advances. - If a set takes longer than 45 minutes (or 1 hour for a bo5), the TO will personally determine the outcome of the set based on replay information and past tournament results. If this occurs because of lag, the player who has a better connection advances, regardless of the current results of the set. This is a warning to all of you people out there who attempt to compete with a toaster on dial-up connection.
Doq's Happy Ending Clause
If a player excessively disrupts the progression of the tournament, whether intentional or not, they may be barred from entering future events. The length of this ban will be based on the severity of the disruption. What is considered to be excessive disruption is up to the discretion of the TO, but may include the following: - Dropping out of the event without notifying the TO. - Delaying further matches by unnecessarily contesting the outcome of an argument after a TO has already made a decision on the matter. - Putting down the wrong score for a particular set, especially if another player gets wrongfully eliminated because of it. - Dropping a set with the intention of bracket manipulation or collusion with other players. - Dropping out of the tournament just to spite the TOs. - Uploading malicious files as match attachments. - Poor behavior and conduct. Conduct outside of events may also be grounds for being barred from future events.
- The TO has the final ruling in all disputes.

| Tis be an online event.
(I thought it would be obvious with the lag and desync rules in the ruleset.) |
