| When it comes to clones, there are some that all agree with and others that are always in debate. This also extends to introducing clones in the first place. While I am generally not a fan of clones (especially ones that have the ability to be unique), they are something that has existed, and if they make up only a small amount of a roster, it isn't problematic (the games listed are ones that I have the most knowledge/experience with). Before I go onto which characters I count as clones, I should clear up that I have 3 categories of "Clonage" and they are "True-Clone", "Semi-Clone", and "Derivative." I will try to explain each below, but the listing will clear up any confusion. True-Clones are characters that have very few differences to their moveset and physics in comparison to the original. Semi-Clones are characters that have a large amount of similarities, but also have very noticable differences to their animations, physics, and attacks. Derivatives are characters that have a few notable similarities to the original character, but are radically different in animations, physics, and attacks, and are generally the most debated. - N64:
Luigi: Clone Jigglypuff: Derivative
- Melee:
Dr. Mario: Clone Falco: Clone Ganondorf: Clone Pichu: Clone Roy: Clone Young Link: Clone Luigi: Semi-Clone
- Brawl:
Falco: Semi-Clone Ganondorf: Semi-Clone Toon Link: Semi-Clone Luigi: Derivative Lucas: Derivative Wolf: Derivative
- Project M:
Falco: Clone Ganondorf: Clone Luigi: Semi-Clone Roy: Semi-Clone Toon Link: Semi-Clone Lucas: Derivative Wolf: Derivative
- Wii U/3DS:
Dark Pit: Clone Dr. Mario: Clone Lucina: Clone Falco: Semi-Clone Ganondorf: Semi-Clone Roy: Semi-Clone Toon Link: Semi-Clone Lucas: Derivative Luigi: Derivative
- Crusade:
Dr. Mario: Clone Pichu: Semi-clone Falco: Semi-clone Evil Ryu: Semi-clone Luigi: Derivative Toon Link: Derivative Ganondorf: Derivative Lucas: Derivative
Crusade is (currently) missing because I haven't went into character comparison in great detail yet, though it would probably be similar to each character's most recent Smash appearance (Ganondorf would probably be Derivative though)

| Kirby and Jigglypuff are fairly similar in Smash 64, specials are completely different, but a lot of normal attacks are the same.
Right now I believe there is only one clone, being Falco (I think) and Dr. Mario when he comes around. I'm not absolutely sure if they are semi-clones or derivatives but the rest are: Luigi, Pichu, Toon Link, Ganondorf, Lucas, and Evil Ryu. From memory I think they might be... Luigi (Derivative) Pichu (Semi-Clone) Toon Link (Derivative) Ganondorf (Derivative) Lucas (Derivative) Evil Ryu (Semi-Clone)
Also you spelled "Ganondorf" wrong. |

| Falco plays completely differently from Fox due to his higher jump and de-cloned shine and nair. Still a semi-clone ofc.
My list would be:
Luigi (Derivative) Pichu (Semi-clone) Toon Link (Derivative) Ganondorf (Derivative) Falco (Semi-clone) Lucas (Derivative) Tails (Derivative) Knuckles (Derivative) Evil Ryu (Semi-clone) Chun-Li (Derivative)
The devs have done a really good job of decloning. Some characters definitely take ideas from others, but it feels like most of them were built from scratch. |

| Clones are fine. Like, in the official Smash games, the only clone that shouldn't be a clone is Ganon, everbody else is fine. |

I'll test them and see what I think (Pichu still feels like a clone, but I haven't really used Pikachu in Crusade, so...). The devs have done a beautiful job at changing the current clones to make them feel unique. I think I should mention that I don't say that characters with similar playstyles are clones. Falco and Roy in Melee are perfect examples of this; their differences, although minimal overall, are what gives them their unique playstyle - AmareTSM wrote:

I agree (I know why Ganon is a clone ), and while I think that characters could still be edited to be more unique, I understand why they are similar (in the case of Lucina and Dark Pit). Edit: Tested the Crusade characters listed above, and added them in where I believe they go (Kinda surprised with how different Pikachu and Pichu are now) |

| I'm not sure if this counts as "derivative," but Captain Falcon borrowed animations from Samus in the N64 version. The ones I can think of off the top of my head are Utilt and Nair, but I can't think of any other ones. Granted, they have different hitboxes and properties, it's just the animations were directly lifted.
Again, I'm not sure that counts. |

| Captain Falcon only shared a few moves, less so than the other "Derivative" characters (except maybe Wolf). That being said, I have very little experience in actually playing the N64 version, so I could be off (Jigglypuff also falls here) |
