HELP - ADVICE NEEDED

Ok...

So...

I might actually be getting into my first relationship. I'm a total noob when it comes to such stuff, but I care for the girl and I want to make it work.

So I want advice.

I realize this isn't the best to ask for advice in regards to such a matter, but it won't hurt.

To help tell us about her. What's she like? What's her personality like? I'd love to help you bro, but this is some pretty important stuff.

I guess the best thing to do would be as caring and considerate as possible, but don't be to much of a push over as I heard some girls don't like that.

You're gonna have to be more specific than "there's a girl". Different people have different things they want out of a relationship, there's not one advice thats gonna work across the board.

Not quite.

Making her happy is not really the issue at hand. I'm fairly certain neither one of thus will have trouble making one another happy in the initial stages of the relationship where there's gonna be the initial spark. Even still it will be largely dependent on the statuses of our lives as individual people and how fullfilling said lives are. In the end I could be Mr. Perfect and still not make her happy for a multitude of reasons.

What I really want advice on is what NOT to do.

For instance, I already know I shouldn't neglect my friends and other facets of my life for her sake, even if the urge is there.

And I already know I shouldn't get comfortable with her to the point the passion and all romantic aspects of our relationship fade.

To be more clear, I don't exactly aim to make her happy. What I want is to make the relationship work in the long run.

Thank you. To be honest, the fact that we were classmates in high school has helped a ton. There's good communication and familiarity. If it wasn't for those factors, it'd honestly be improbable.

I suppose you have a point. And to think it never crossed my mind...

It will also depend on what I want out of the relationship and what she wants out of it...

It's too early to ask that, but it definitely is something to keep in mind.

One important general piece of advice, if you met as friends that shouldn't change too drastically now that you're in a relationship. I've been with my girlfriend for a little over a year now but we were friends for like 2 years before that, and the only thing that's really changed is that we go on dates independent of our other friends more often. It's not a Massive Step Forward that changes everything about the relationship.

Well Sliss, here's what not to do...

-Don't get overly possessive. Let her hang out with other guys. This should be an obvious, don't control her.
-Make sure to talk to her every day. May seem excessive but it's important for communication to be heavy in a relationship, even on a day-to-day basis

All I got for now, but those are 2 big things to remember.

Thanks. In my case she and I were friends back in the day but we haven't hanged out for a long time. However the basis of our interaction is something along the lines of friendship or at least, familiarity which is probably why our communication is so good. I guess it's nice to hear that being friends can work to the benefit of the relationship.

I definitely get what you mean. I'm somewhat clingy and although I' owrking on it, it really shows on occasion. For example I called her on Wednesday but since I had scheduled for Friday, she told me to call her next week. She wouldn't even settle for Saturday because she knows I clean the house during that time. I was very confused at first because the 2 dates went really well but now I'm 99% sure she's playing hard to get or something, especially since she mentioned a specific date. However I'm savage so I'll call her on Thursday instead.
