Absolutely
You're right actually Dust, he's pretty necessary, I feel pretty angry at myself for using the poor elf man

According to Google, Necessary means-"required to be done, achieved, or present; needed; essential."

So really it's all about perspective.

Those are just 3. Next, please.

I'm not sure what logic you're using. You just randomly say "is this even necessary" when I explained just why it may be necessary in my post.

EDIT: Removed Tingle he's too good

I wouldn't use Geno as an example, though. He and SM RPG has a huge fanbase. But I can see why Shiruza doesn't think this character is necessary (and to be 100% honest I agree). Yes, Super Mario Bros has done a lot for gaming but Mario himself represents that era because 8-bit Mario IS today's Mario. Hell, the large amount of Mario reps even scream that the Mario franchise is the best-selling franchise of all time (and no I don't mind the large number of Mario reps).

Every suggestion on this forum could be perceived as "unnecessary". It doesn't matter if a suggestion is "unnecessary", look at it for every other thing then consider that.

Mario's Smash moveset doesn't represent major parts of Mario, such as the items, so representing those things in a Smash moveset could be considered necessary. And this character achieves that.

And still, Geno isn't exactly necessary. Tons of things with huge fanbases aren't necessary for Smash.

I asked if he's necessary because we already have so many Mario characters within Crusade. I wouldn't be distraught at his inclusion at all or anything, don't get me wrong, it's just... Do you really need to devote time, energy and resources to developing an alternate form of Mario when there are other franchises that have more unique characters that have yet to be implemented and would be much more rewarding an inclusion in the end...?

I'd only support 8-Bit Mario on the grounds that he's not made a high-priority character, mostly because the idea of time being used for such a project doesn't sit well with me. Though I also acknowledge that this is all simply my own opinion.

Who said he'd be a high-priority character? And who said he'd have to come before all the other characters? He could be developed as the last character.

How many is too many for anything? I mean Star Fox has 3 characters right now which is half of how many Star Fox games exist.

When series' become under-presented then yes, there CAN be too many characters from a series.

It's not that simple. Though there's no confirmed set character limit, Crusade can't make new characters (or other content) forever. They have to stop somewhere so there is or will be a limit, we just don't know what it will be. Every time a character joins, the chances of another getting in drops. This can result in a series being under-repped if not thought through enough.

8-bit mario sounds like a 11-year old's ssf2 expansion character idea because the sprites are easy to work with and he can't sprite to save his life so it still looks terrible

If I'm not mistaken this exact idea was actually on the SSF2 Expansion forums, back when I used to frequent there.

As for this...

Precisely my point. If we're going to even add a character last-minute, I'd rather it'd be anyone other than another Mario character (especially one who is more less Mario in a lower resolution, moveset changes or not). We have 9 of them; the only other series that even comes close to that number is Pokemon, with 6 (short 3 characters). The series after that? Sonic the Hedgehog, with 4. Every other franchise has as little as one or two characters. 3, if they're lucky.

I'd rather the devs focus their efforts on expanding the roster of Nintendo characters, rather than the roster of Mario characters, if they're going to add another character (regardless of priority).

It was, indeed. That idea caused this thread.

Hypothetically, if every single series got at least one more character, would you even consider the prospect of 8-Bit Mario?

Barring the Ristar, Pac-Man and Crash Bandicoot series, yes. Mostly because I feel they don't need any further character representation. Though unlike 8-Bit Mario, I wouldn't be as upset.

Simple answer? Yes.
