Now before you all start smacking me to death with a crowbar, allow me to explain!

...

I always felt sorry for this character.

I mean, his game was released at the end of the lifespan of an already-unpopular console, and its p**s-poor CGI cutscenes didn't win over any fans. Despite that, the game itself is pretty decent. Nothing earth-shatteringly brilliant, but still enough to call a game. Also, the game had a killer soundtrack, thanks to Guns 'n Roses' Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal.

Anyway, the reason why I want this character (and was in the fact the third character I had planned to make for the devs) is that we need more SEGA reps from franchises other than Sonic the Hedgehog. Sure, we got Ristar, and with enough support we'll get NiGHTs, but remember: It never hurts to add a face nobody saw coming. Remember in Melee when we first saw Mr. Game and Watch?

Anyway, onto the moveset. For this moveset, I'll be focusing on basic Smash Bros controls:

A: Punch
A + A: Jump Kick
A >: Woody spins forward like a little tornado.
A ^: Woody sticks his leaded tip upwards
A v: Woody slides his leg to do a trip kicks.
Running A: Woody does a cartwheel, followed by a slide kick.
A SMASH >: Woody slams his head forward.
A SMASH ^: Doning a toga, Woody throws a fireball upwards. If it hits nobody within 2 seconds, the flame dies out.
A SMASH v: Woody does a breakdance spin.

Air A: Woody puts his hands behind his back and kicks his feet forward.
Air A Forward: Woody scoops his body forward making his point stick out.
Air A Backward: Woody swats a backhand.
Air A Up: Woody blows into his fist and delivers a powerful uppercut.
Air A Down: Woody turns upside-down and dive-bombs towards the ground lead tip-first. If he hits nobody, he'll get stuck for 2 seconds.

Grab: Woody grabs his foe by the neck.
Pummel: Woody punches his foe in the groin.
Forward: Woody body-checks his foe away.
Backward: Woody spins his foe around with a tornado effect and eventually lets go.
Up: Woody draws a cannon, loads his opponent inside it, and plugs his "ears" as the cannon shoots him or her upwards.
Down: Woody slams his opponent to the ground and rubs his eraser butt on them before kicking them aside.

Special Move (B): Woody draws a stack of dynamite and tosses it. The dynamite can be picked up and thrown before the wick blows it up, however, so be warned!

Side Special (B Side): Woody draws a crossbow and loads himself inside of it. You can fire him in any direction, and it can be cancelled while sailing.

Up Special (B Up): Woody draws a paper plane and flies it upward. If the plane collides with a wall, Woody will jump out forward.

Down Special (B Down): Woody rubs his eraser butt on the ground, creating a pitfall for others to fall into.

Final Smash: Doning a bandana and a huge megawatt speaker, Woody draws himself an electric guitar and starts strumming away. The shockblasts from the speaker push opponents away whilst damaging them at the same time. When the move is done, Woody strums a cord so loud, the speaker explodes!

Stage Entrance: Woody spirals in on his head and then flips himself onto his feet.

Taunt: Woody takes out a sharpener and sharpens his head. He then gives a smug look at the camera before putting it away.

Win Pose: Woody is seen sitting on a comfy couch watching TV. He then raises his hand to change the channel with the remote before looking at the camera and winking.

Lose Pose: Woody looks dizzy while seeing stars.

That's that. If I missed anything, let me know. Otherwise, let me know what you think.

I feel that using the already spare Sega slot on someone like this dude, a character I would bet half this forum hasn't heard of, would honestly be really dumb.

Ristar was added due to old developer bias; adding this guy wouldn't be a "big cool surprise", it'd just be a dissapointment that the next Sega rep wasn't like, Dr. Eggman.

I will give you this; really cool moveset, though. Good job.

Eggman comes from the Sonic franchise, which is already represented. Not saying it wouldn't be cool to have him (because it would be), but when think about it, the Capcom section of this game already has a Flagship character (MegaMan), Secondaries (The Street Fighter Crew) and an Oddball (P. Wright).

The way I see it, the SEGA branch could do the same with this: Flagship (Sonic and Co.), Secondary (Ristar) and Oddball (Woody).

But do we need an oddball?

Wright isn't an oddball, I would argue he's either the third or fourth most famous Capcom character and has been featured in a ton of games.

So really, we don't have a third party oddball. And I LOVE the oddballs, I made the Poochy thread! But I feel third party wise we may wanna stick to the iconic fellas.

I didn't mean oddball-wise in popularity, I meant via moves. I saw Wright's moves in Crusade, VERY obsurd...XD

But yes, it's debatable whether or not a third-party in this game has to be iconic, but one unfamilar face couldn't hurt...

Well, in a way, it COULD kinda hurt. I mean there's a ton more Sega reps people want more then Woody.

Oddball moves don't make an oddball character, though I do agree with you about his moves, they're funny.

I acknowledged that with NiGHTs in the main post.

But to me, the only other people I could see represent SEGA, other than who's already represented and who has been nominated, are DUOS, and, as noted with the Ice Climbers, are one heck of thing to program.

I mean, I'd love to see ToeJam and Earl, but coding issues are what held me back. Same thing for the Bonanza Bros.

I don't think it's as hard to do in Crusade. It's doable, atleast.

Who has been "nominated"?

From what I've seen, other than characters from the Sonic franchise...

NiGHTs, Wiseman the Wicked (The Antagonist of NiGHTs' game), Arle, Beat, Alex Kidd, and most recently, ToeJam & Earl.

Sorry to double-post, but...

My, My, what have we here?

Since the one of the devs said they need more spriters, and I don't see any spriter out there making a custom sheet for Woody anytime soon, I decided to lend a hand with this.

I know these sprites aren't custom, but they don't really HAVE to be. After all, Wario's sprites are edited variations of his Wario Land 4 sprites...

I promise to work on this moveset little by little each day. Heck, if I do, we'll have a complete character made by the end of the year...

Why don't you sign up for the Spriting Team? You're talented.

While I thank you for that, my good Shaq, I'm afraid my knack for spriting comes from editing sprites and nothing more.

Oh, and here's the forward tilt attack.

That so? Ah well. Still not supporting Woody, but the gifs are nice.
