 Devil's Machine (Earthbound)

Quite possibly the most memorable part of Earthbound, comes the Devil's Machine!

Beware, spoilers for the grand finale of Earthbound follow!





The stage takes place on this section directly in front of the Devil's Machine. The layout is relatively simple, with a flat platform with raised edges on either side.

In the background, the machine has been getting energy via the wires connected to it. However, after about 10 seconds, it starts to turn off! The capsule opens, and the background changes drastically!



Giygas! Every so often, a text box appears at the top of the screen:



After this text, a random invisible hitbox strikes the stage! The damage, hitstun, even effect (poison, burn, etc) is random. Good luck avoiding this, but this is precisely how Giygas works. You can't grasp the true form of his attack!

Of course, the background gets progressively weirder as the battle rages on.




Overall, the stage isn't too complicated but I'm sure fans of Earthbound would love this stage.

Fairly generic. Maybe a floating platform could be put over the middle.

Why not add tripping then? That would make all stages potentailly trippy.
