Haruka Amami (The iDOLM@STER) Discussion

unlike my last thread, this character 100% originates from a video game. namco's idolmaster franchise is a media monolith, the first installment in the series even being a killer app for the xbox 360 in japan. the series survives to this day, with new games released on almost all platforms, a highly acclaimed anime adaptation, plenty of spinoff content, plenty of merchandise and a devoted international fanbase.

i don't have anything to say about how this character would work in a smash context but this: a singing pop idol as a fighting game character. what more do you need? if that sounds too ridiculous, i recommend you look at some of the other threads on this board.

So comparing this to other threads on this board makes this one justified when it has no information to back up the character's reason she should be included?

On a list of considerable Namco characters, this would probably be pretty far down. I dunno if I'd support this one.

To be fair, half of the Unofficial character topics on the board are pretty bad. Some are apprehensive, really.

But I do agree, you should probably edit in some description as to how the game plays. I've played the iDOLM@STER demo on my PS3 a couple years ago, and because it wasn't translated, it was ultra-confusing, minus the rhythm bits I found pretty self-explanatory, yet enjoyable.

I know that this is probably a joke thread and all, but back on the Suggestion Poll, Miku, to whom I feel a little compelled to compare to Haruka, was higher up than most people would think.

However, that's coming from the same poll that had Wreck-It Ralph maitaining first place for a few months.

I didn't miss the joke, I just didn't find it funny or clever.
