So, what I've noticed:
- Risky Dair landing option and spike, but seems like it could be useful.
- Melee Bair and Melee Fair.
- Shocking Sheet, Sm4sh Up-B and a freezing Tornado. I'm not so sure why the last one is a thing

I never thought I'd be as excited as I am for Dr. Mario, but the changes made really add a level of uniqueness and show that the doc is deserving of being Mario's alternate. Even as a semi-clone, it seems he'll play rather differently from Mario, and that's great.
I also like the clever idea of having Doc (seemingly at least) harness the power of the viruses in some of his moves, and that you re-purposed some customs from Smash 4.
Let's just hope he has a new, unique Final Smash.

To be honest, I do like the differing concepts put into Dr. Mario's moveset to better reference his origins. As stated before, I'm interested in what his Final Smash will be, as long as it isn't the same as Smash 4, though that's up to the developers to decide.

I think his dash attack could be the dash attack/dash grabbing from Super Mario 64, and if you press the a button again he would recover faster from the attack, maybe there could be a small hitbox where he launchs the opponent, like if it was a hit & throw move altogether. Also, Blog's gifs and video show him being from the Mario Series, you guys think he should be from his own series, or have his own Victory Theme?

It has come to my attention that the artwork used in Dr. Mario's trailer is Sprite Art and the stock icon for him is the same as Smash 4's.
Even though this'll probably be fixed in due time, I felt like making my own SSBC-Styled Artwork to fill the void.

Yes! I would love if Doc got a Victory theme based on his series! Maybe  a portion of Fever?

Question for the developers: How long did it take to finish Dr. Mario (spriting and coding) compared to other characters?

This is the first real 'clone' character, so I'm curious about how the actual time matches up to what we believed the time would be.

I am just curious of one thing though... will Fair and Side B actually find uses beyond mistiming enemy dodges? Both seem to have reliable kill power, it's just that ones come up faster maybe and you can fast fall a FAir but that's about it?

Will have to play him to see what's going on, but part of me would have prefered to see the actual viruses in play...
Like, Side B could have been the Doc looking to his feet and lifting one as a small virus (that was hiding behind his foot) runs forward towards the enemy. Each virus would get a different pattern when acting (Blue virus could run the faster, Red Virus would jump, Yellow would remain in place), making this an interesting zoning tool.
If not wanting to touch Side B, then Neutral B could be the viruses... with the addition that pressing the move again while the virus is active has the Doc throw a pill at it to kill it.
This brings an interesting mechanic where the viruses are a lingering projectile, but also a mark for the 2nd part of the move that makes Mario toss a pill straight to the virus regardless of any of both their positioning.

Eh, just an idea that won't happen i guess. The new utility on his moves all look sufficient for many anyway.

Side B has a larger hitbox and higher duration than Fair, even outlasting spot dodge invincibility entirely. It also comes out and ends slightly faster, and it can be used on the ground. Fair on the other hand can utilize fast fall. It also has the potential to have lower end lag depending on how quickly after the hitbox you land. It also does not change your current horizontal/vertical movement, whereas sideB slows both down regardless of direction, even during startup. Fair is more mobile. It also has a higher hitbox placement, and this combined with the speed thing makes it more suitable for following up after most combo moves, since docs combos tend to pop upward.

Am I the only person who thinks that the whole down-b freeze effect is kind of made useless by the fact that the enemy goes down and away from Doc and can escape the ice before Doc is even out of endlag?

That only happens at high percent when the ice effect happens. At lower percent it pops up. If anything that's helpful, as the attack scales to the point where it would otherwise stop comboing, instead they get frozen and put into a bad position where doc can easily chase with a falling aerial

Alright! That makes sense and definitively adds to the character's differences. The only question i would have about him is if he would be a Mario Alt or receive his own slot.

Not bad the idea of adding him, but, I have only a question: he'll have his own Alternate Playstyle, right?

I'm questioning this because he has variants of Mario's Special Moves (altought they were Customs from SSB4)...

Just gonna say I totally love what they did with Dr. Mario here, and even with the viruses. It helps a lot setting him apart from the plumber.

Also, I was just having a little idea for him that I don't know how to feel about:

The Doc would have a little pill indicator somewhere next to his damage indicator. Depending on the colors of the pill (red, blue and yellow, of course), there'd be a 50/50 chance of the rest of the B attacks (and the Side Smash as well) to have any of both effects.

Example: The Doc has a red and yellow pill stored, and uses the Cape. The Cape has a 50/50 chance of being either a fire attack or a thunder attack, and same with his Up-B and Down-B.

And how can you change pills? Simple. With Neutral B, Dr. Mario throws his currently stored pill as the projectile we all know (and maybe the red tip could do fire damage and the yellow tip could do thunder damage), thus the previously stored pill gets replaced by another different pill (for example, get changed to an entirely blue pill that makes the rest of Dr. Mario's B attacks have ice effects). The taunt could also be used to change the current pill.

And to vary things up a little, this is how I'd say the other B attacks would work depending on the chances of the pill's effects

Side Special:

Fire/Red: The cape doesn't do much knockback, but it can rack up continuous hits, along with the obvious fire effect.
Thunder/Yellow: The cape would work as it works right now.
Ice/Blue: The cape would slow the opponent down for 2 seconds, and freeze them in higher percentages.

Up Special:

Fire/Red: The punch would work as it currently works.
Thunder/Yellow: The punch can cause continuous hits as it takes the opponent upward, with a finishing hit of more damage and knockback, but doesn't do as much overall damage and knockback as the fire punch.
Ice/Blue: The punch would freeze the opponent as it hits them no matter the damage percentage, and would do as much damage as the fire punch. However, the opponent would get only one hit out of the move.

Down Special:

Fire/Red: The tornado would obviously do fire damage, and would release two small fire explosions at both Doc's sides, doing sideways knockback.
Thunder/Yellow: The tornado would do more hits and would even be harder to escape from than the fire tornado, but wouldn't do as much damage. It'd also spawn a small thunder that falls on the Doc as if it powered him up (cough cough Pikachu much) doing an upwards knockback.
Ice/Blue: The tornado would work as it currently works, maybe even slowing the opponent down for 2 seconds, I don't know.

Maybe the Final Smash could be affected by this whole gimmick as well, along with technically counting as 2 pill changes.



Anyway, this is my idea. I doubt it'd ever happen, but I'd say it would truly be a blast to play with anyway. Whaddya think?
