Honestly I usually use key for edge guarding, as it does have decent knockback

Bell's better, it has a harder to deal with arc and stuns so you can go in and hit them with whatever.

Hey guys alternate playstyles is a thing now.

If you're including SSB4 normal moves along with the specials, that's quite a few sprites that has to be made.

Normal moves, not a chance. B moves, chance.

I'd say that Bonus Fruit and Hydrant would be the only real specials to be brought in if Alt. PAC were to happen We already got a Pellet Trail and why would you even think of getting rid of the luxurious Rev Roll

What's the point of it being an alt, then? You keep existing moves for the existing Pac if we blend in Sm4sh elements, for an alt it should be all-in on the Sm4sh moves.

Why do people want the hydrant back so much? It's a windbox, kinda lame tbh, also kinda gimmicky. Not that gimmicks are bad inherently, but it's not really super... interesting, imo.

I'd say we'd go all-in for specials, but keep the normals if it would ever happen.
His Crusade normals are superior anyway

Guys, Alternate Playstyles isn't new moves, but little tweaks to gimmicks special to that character. So Pac-Man wouldn't need an alt playstyle because of specials that we can just add to a normal moveset

^ Yes and no. Alternate playstyles are meant to be gimmick changes, such as the ones we revealed with. However, they can also be alternate movesets IF AND ONLY IF the sprite changes required are very minimal. This is a way to use code alone and not extremely timely character spriting to beef up the replay value, uniqueness, and customization of our game, while our spriters focus on more significant things such as entirely new characters, stages, resprites, items, etc.
So yes, a "Smash 4 specials, Crusade specials" scheme is in the realm of possibility for any character. Though, they are a little tougher and thus lower on the list than a mechanic change. Other options, such as "Melee moveset, smash 4 moveset" are similarly possible.
The guy in the Olimar thread did have the right idea though for what we are going for in general, we would just need to figure out exactly how that would work without coming up with any new B moves in that case.

^ So if we made the Smash 4 Pellet Trail as a Side B, that wouldn't require much effort since it's just a beefed up version of Crusade's Up B, just horizontally. But making something like Bonus Fruit would be less chances of happening because you guys would basically have to sprite the entire thing (Summoning, the BGFX circle thing when the Fruits are swapping, the Fruits themselves and the Throwing Animation) from scratch.
Notes taken. Notes taken indeed.

Uhm...only the summoning and throwing animations would need new sprites. The fruits can be simply ripped from the original Pac-Man and the circles are just that, circles (and could be possibly ripped from Smash 4 and scaled through code).

Well, you need a new character, each sprite needs to be done, they don't have a lot of time for a new move sprite just for an alternate playstyle

They wouldn't even need new sprites for the Bonus Fruit, really. They probably have some form of Assist Trophy pose somewhere that could be used for switching fruits, then they could just use any vaguely similar animation for throwing (fair or end of fthrow maybe?)
Hydrant would almost definitely need a new animation, though.

Definitely not. We are past the "using what's available even if it's not totally suited" thing in getting sprites for this game.

Fair enough. I'm pretty sure it's the same animation for Assist Trophy and switching fruit even in Sm4sh tho so there's at least one frame you won't need to make a new sprite for

Except Smash Bros Crusade doesn't even have Assit Trophies yet. I mean, they are planned, but I never actually saw them in action. And this conversation makes it sound like almost everyone forgot that this game doesn't have any Assist Trophies yet.

I'd still be shocked if they didn't have sprites for them drawn up. If it's planned, I'd think that would be one of the first things they do.

It's a great way to attack from up high, is great for mix-ups when launched (and is also a potent projectile), can improve mobility (such as "riding" the water while charging an F-Smash), and can be a good way of blocking projectiles.
And I'm not even a Pac-main. It's just a fun move overall.

I have to agree there. Just dealing with the hydrant kind of makes Pac-Man fun to fight. It's lots of fun to send back at him and rewarding when you successfully work around it, and doesn't ever feel cheap or anything when it works in his favor.
Also, from a casual standpoint, the move is hilarious.

Sm4sh's nspec and dspec are the two most interesting moves in his arsenal. Crusade's nspec and dspec are the two least interesting moves in his arsenal. Why is this even being debated?

-Replace the "chomp" special with the Pac-Dot throw from PMW1, Not only would it be more effective but it would also be more fun to use and again: represent his famous platforming series. -The Butt-Bounce is fun but why not add a Bounce-Bounce-Shockwave combo like in Pac-Man World 3? This is a fighting game after all so I think that would make sense. ((And to speed it up a bit faster in terms of the "delay" it has
And somewhat of a nitpick but I would kinda like his normal A-A-A combo to be the old 3 punches he did in PMW3, I even have sounds of his fists swinging mixed with the 8-bit sound bytes ripped right from the game if you are interested.

Question as an alt character slot wouldn't Pacman be able to have Pacman from Street Fighter X Tekken?

That'd actually be really cool, all things considered Plus that's a way to have Modern-Design PAC-MAN, but WITHOUT the ear-grating voice
Because in SFxT the only real thing PAC said was "Alrighty!" when he wins But in Ghostly Adventures he screams something like "AWESOOOOOOOOOOOME!" or "COOOOOOOOL!" every time he JUMPS in the Ghostly Adventures games
