| The Sprites!! Everything else is pretty good and interesting, the huge roster of characters keep you interested, except if only the sprites could have more polish to them. A lot of the characters seem to be lacking a lot of their natural range, and hang-time flub ability. This could be simply due to small hitboxes and just not enough frames for smooth fluid motions. But when i play crusade with my friends they get really hype by all the characters, then turned off with their animations. Some find them funny and go along with it , while others criticize them to the point of refusing to play . But to the ones that are open to tying new things, we had a lot of fun. especially with them new characters like geno (my personal favorite ), goku, and WEEGEE!! Good stuff with duck hunt dog too!! I think Nintendo likes that character so much, that they decided to add him into smash 4 as well! lol: - Spoiler:
Good Stuff either way guys. Looking forward to playing with crash bandicoot and friends, like i did at Zenith NYC. Keep up the good work!

| Hey X.
Nice thread, and I definitely see your point.
And also like to tell you something in regards to the people who refused to play the game becuase of the animations.
When you play any game, you undergo a suspension of disbelief which can vary in intensity. However, in order for suspension of disbelief to happen, it must be diserable; you must want it.
If you play a horror game predispositioned that you won't get scared, your suspension of disbelief will suffer dramatically. If any specific horror game is graphically outdated but have other merits, the player may have to approach the game with a specific mindset in order to enjoy it.
This game is no different. You need to able to approach it with a specific mindset to sunspend your disbelief. This is no problem for, say, us. But there are people who are unable or unwilling to do that.
In my opinion it's their loss. There are a lot of games you can enjoy if you adopt a mindset that gets you beyond the fact that the graphics don't meet your expectations. |

| Very true, your right. Its the mind set we have going into something that determines what we get out of it. And thats true for not only videogames, and movies but everything in life.
The law of the universe, what you put out is what you get back.
Its like mind over matter, If you go into something with a negative outlook, you will only experience the negative, but if you go in with a positive outlook you will experience what ever it is positively. Perspective is everything.
But that said, there is a common ground to stand on and truth in both. I feel the sprites could use a bit of touching up, even if it is only before the final version is released. Just my opinion.
It would really help the combos and overall gameplay. Like say marth's jabs not having enough range. And falcon's up air and back air not being able to connect as naturally as it normally does.
I guess what i'm really trying to say is, make sure each character has enough range to their moves to make for a more satisfying footsie game. Or simply increase the size of the hitboxes if you have to. |

| I understand what you're trying to say.
In regards to the hitboxes and range, I'm really curious to see how the coders and balancers will respond to it.
In regards to the sprites needing improvement, that has always been true, and it's ongoing process. 0.9 will probably be vastly superior to 0.8, and even 0.9 test somewhat, in terms of graphics.

| The dojo hasn't been active lately, but quite a few dojo features have been for resprites. You should except a great deal of improved sprites for the next demo. yes that was on purpose sp |

Oh ok cool. So then updated sprites are in the works then, Awesome! Side Note: Did you purposely change your wins and losses to somehow come at me? I-is that a challenge?? |

| In general hitboxes match sprites. There are exceptions though, balancers usually have a background in melee/pm/brawl competition and agree that range is important. Some moves have gotten such hitbox treatment, Jigglypuff's back air for example or, surprisingly one you named, Falcon's up air. But, there's always room for improvement somewhere or another when it comes to balance. So, i would recommend starting there, in the balancing board you have access to. I would also recommend reading the balancer demo thread OP, especially the section on debug features. |

I-is that a challenge?? It's a forum variable that replaces itself with the viewer's username. For example, on my screen, I see my name. |

| I agree...some of these sprites are kinda ugly and I think Lil' Mac's lack of range is due to his rather small sprite. If he had a more sclaed sprite with animations that didn't end as soon as you trigger them...I think he would be way more fun to play with.
And looking at SSF2 with it's inferior physics and mechanics...but super detailed and beautiful sprites.....it's irking me! >0< lol xD |

| Sprites are excellent on some of the characters I've played with, but I agree, many of them still need work, and I'm sure the devs know this, like Ridley if I'm not mistaken. Original sprites would be really awesome if they had the support, than familiar sprites from past games, like Mario based on Superstar Saga, but I understand the work that needs to be done to get those done and better if they work on new sprites after all the character movesets are finalized. |

| Mario is completely custom, as far as I know nothing was drawn from Superstar Saga. |

| Waluigi? I think ZSS's are far worse than his - fewer pixels, uneven animation quality. What is it about Waluigi that is so bad? |

| The fact that his overall anatomy does not match the character. He needs longer, lanky legs. |

| Ecxatly, ZSS needs custom sprites, not taking from Metroid: Zero Mission. |

| I think Yoshi just needs new animations in the following areas: - idle - Down Aerial (especially this) - Forward Aerial - Back Aerial - Up Smash - Side B - Something to make B and grab look different from one another
And he will probably be fine.
I agree Snake, DK, and space animals also need work. ZSS is by far the top of my list though. |
